Why not stop calling kendo, ‘kendo’ and call it stick fighting too?Stretching?

Because not all stick fighting is kendo, but all kendo is stick fightingWhy not stop calling kendo, ‘kendo’ and call it stick fighting too?![]()
Not all stretching is yoga either!Because not all stick fighting is kendo, but all kendo is stick fighting![]()
Yep. Honestly, the confidence these folks have in their logical inconsistencies…Not all stretching is yoga either!
But you also said, “Yoga is objectively spiritual, you cant seperate its spiritual nature from the physical aspects of yoga.”In very basic terms:
Stretching is cool and non spiritual.
Yoga is spiritual.
Actually she proved my point with that staement, not yours.Yep. Honestly, the confidence these folks have in their logical inconsistencies…![]()
Stretching is stretching. But you also said, “Yoga is objectively spiritual, you cant seperate its spiritual nature from the physical aspects of yoga.”
The physical aspects of yoga are stretching & holding whether we call it “yoga” or just “stretching”.
My point exactly. Not all stretching is yoga either!
You’ve contracted earlier statements you’ve said.It depends what youre doing it for.
Fasting on Fridays during Lent for God is good.
Fasting on Fridays during Lent for Satan for more abortions is evil.
Standing up is an ordrinary human function.
Standing up with Yoga in mind is for a different purpose.
Not contradictory. You’ve contracted earlier statements you’ve said.
However, you’ve also come around to what I’ve been saying all along: It’s all about intent.
You’re also hung up on “yoga = spirituality.” It may mean so in India, but not in the U.S. Yoga in the U.S. typically means simply stretching. It is misleading to state otherwise.
You can’t prove it’s not contradictory by stating a statement that contradicts yourself. Not contradictory.
Not all those fasting during Lent are Catholics, all (practicing) Catholics during Lent are fasting.
Please explain how its contradictory and I will gladly explain it back to you that it is not.You can’t prove it’s not contradictory by stating a statement that contradicts yourself.
You’re stuck on a preconceived notion and working backwards to attempt to support such notion.
You stated"Please explain how its contradictory and I will gladly explain it back to you that it is not.

This is a CLEAR indication that INTENT matters. This is so obvious that I believe you are trolling at this point. Even the Church recognizes this. Example: Sins are mortal or venial based on intent. There is no sin in stretching, as much as you insist it is so.Standing up with Yoga in mind is for a different purpose.
So if the intent to use an ouija board is for simple innocent use, does that negate its sinfulness? Or is it always sinful, because the Church says so, even if we dont believe that or understand that? You stated"

standsIm not saying youre INTENDING to engage in yoga (which is a religion) in its fullness, but the fact of the matter is you are. Then what?
Stretching isnt a religion. Yoga is.
Did you ever eat Chinese food? Because if you did, you just enjoyed an application of five-element theory, thus are practicing Buddhism.Stretching isnt a religion. Yoga is.
Not all stretching is yoga and a religion, but all yoga is stretching and religion (regardless of your intent, because yoga’s religiousness isnt subjective, its an objective fact)
Yoga IS strictly stretching, in one sense as the word is commonly understood and defined. It is just a particular type of stretching - some of the positions and sequences of positions are unique to the one type of stretching that is yoga. Just as some stretches and sequences are unique to the type of stretching that is Pilates and so on.Stretching is stretching.
Yoga is stretching.
Yoga is not strictly stretching. Stretching is strictly stretching.
This is the point of contention. But you also said, “Yoga is objectively spiritual, you cant seperate its spiritual nature from the physical aspects of yoga.”
The physical aspects of yoga are stretching & holding whether we call it “yoga” or just “stretching”.
This is the point of contention.
Yes the physical aspects of yoga (stretching) most certianly can be seprated from the spiritual because the spirtual involve intent, belief, and philosophy. The physical aspects do not.
Now a comparison has been made to the use of a ouiji board, that such physical acts are inherently dangerous to the spiritual well being. Again, it is not the physical moving of the planchette that is thought to be a danger but the opening of the mind. It is a matter of intention. Even if the intent is just to play a board game, that intent has an implicit intent of such openness.
Then again there is even doubt about that danger:
While Ouija believers feel the paranormal or supernatural is responsible for Ouija’s action, it is parsimoniously explained by unconscious movements of those controlling the pointer, a psychophysiological phenomenon known as the ideomotor effect. Despite being repeatedly debunked by the efforts of the scientific community and deemed superstitious by conservative Christians, Ouija remains popular among many people.

But this whole thread gives us anopportuntiy to speak more precisely. Yoga is several methods intended to bring the mind to stillness. It is that stillness that is the goal of yoga. The philosophy of yoga is an interpretation of what that stillness means, who we really are, and what life is all about.
Many of the methods of yoga are also present in other religions, especially the moral precepts (Yama & Niyama). These are in fact preliminary requisites of not only yoga but all religions worth their salt. Stretching and holding poses (hatha yoga) is another of these methods. The Catholic CDF has stated that such methods can be beneficial to Catholics.
Is it possible to honor a demon without intending it? Probably, but it has nothing to do with stretching…more to do with vice and seven deadly sins, more to do with anger and pride than touching your toes.
And if the name a lone is a problem how about "Praisemoves™?
Laurette Willis is a certified personal trainer who has developed a stretching exercise program that incorporates Scripture called PraiseMoves™ that she considers “the Christian alternative to yoga.”

If that makes anyone feel better.
Is it really that different?
Of course in regard to these Ouija boards "it is parsimoniously explained by unconscious movements of those controlling the pointer, a psychophysiological phenomenon known as the ideomotor effect."
You tell that to the young lady who just watched as her friends used a Ouija board as she watched. It was a slumber party and she didn't know what to do. The demon knew that she was like many here in this forum, not all but some are here, had an unrecognized Charism of the Holy Spirit. It used this as an oppurtunity to attack her. Now she is an important member of an exorcist's deliverance team. She would never say this of herself; but she is a genuine religious seer and is recognized by the Church as so.
Then there is the physicist here who as a teenager who participated to some extend in the use of a homemade Ouija board. It was made by a young teen age girl, new to the neighborhood, who enticed several of the locals to this séance or session of Ouija board. He suffered about 17.5 years until he was able to have a priest devoted to the ministry of deliverance pray for him. He was freed of this presence then. Oh everyone was startled at that session and the glass planchette was broken.
Those are just 2 cases. I think they will say "Baloney" to the explanation given above.
Regardless, divination of spirits is a mortal sin. A good Catholic should not go further than that and just reject all forms of spiritism, including the Ouija board.
Yoga comes from Hinduism. Hinduism is a pantheistic pagan religion with over 350 million "deities or gods," These are all demonic entities. Quite simply Yoga is derived from and is a product of a demonic system.
The "strong delusion" has not even come yet but many have been led astray.
These things are all impediments to obtaining Salvation. Quite simply they are crocks.
The majority of the Catholics would never engage in either Yoga or Ouija boards. They simply avoid this stuff. It is like what parents tell their children "When you see trouble go the other way" with this exception: they pray for all of their fallen brethren.
Ever notice before any important religious season or feast day, threads become reservoirs of anti-Christian sentiment. The goal is to disturb the Peace and distract from Christ.
