Is your boss allowed to "chew you out"?

I’d prefer to avoid such petty arguments.
Always be ready. Confrontations and challenges come when you’re least expecting them.
Your only option is the boss or bosses above who you hopefully know already and have met face to face. If they don’t co operate, move on.
My HR is extremely responsive. An unwanted nickname nearly got someone fired. Nowadays, a single joke or touch can destroy you. Regardless, once you confront the bosses, you’re gonna get dragged through the mud. Thankfully, where I work, we have a Union to provide anonymity and shield us from management’s reprisals.

If you get that opinion then I have completely messed up my reply or you have misunderstood. I don’t mean that at all and I thought I made that clear(how wring was I ??). To make it clear, it is never
ok to behave like that to anyone. I thought I said that!?? People should complain, if they can. I’m just saying not everyone is in a position to handle what may happen if you complain, especially if you have to take it all the way to the top.

I am surprised you think I am the boss who shouts at people by what I wrote!? I must be much much worse than I thought at expressing myself, lol. I am the one who’s been bullied before and not come out on top. God bless.

Sorry I misunderstood your opinion, it sounded like you knew it was wrong and supported your friend reporting it and was seeing what people thought. My bad I apologise. I meant no offence. Yes sadly, I think what happened to your friend is normal in other parts
of the world. Not right but yes it happens here too (UK) and where I am from RSA.

I understand now where you are coming from. No problem. God Bless.

We may be talking about different things based on different experiences. I’m hoping I haven’t offended you. Let’s leave it there. Take care.

A boss is only allowed to talk to his staff this way if the staff accept it. I would be looking for another job, because I don’t accept people talking to me like that.

As someone said, it is a test of your confidence and self-esteem. Those with low self-esteem will think they have to put up with it, to keep their job.

Yes. Bullies typically only pick on people they know will not defend themselves.

And you know, I grew up with old school thinking which was kind of influenced by misinterpreting “turn the other cheek” and “take up your cross”. We thought we were doing something Christian and heroic by taking abuse from bosses without question.

There’s nothing to be offended about. I understand what you’re saying. Unless a person wants to fight and make a mess, they’re probably better off leaving quietly. It’s not always worth the trouble :man_shrugging:t2:
