Islam an offense to our LORD.

HUH??? That is deluded. Jesus allowed himself to be worshiped!!!

Repent! Follow Christ as the great I AM!
Remember that in the Gospels, the issue of Jesus’ Divinity and humanity is a confusing one (remember, early on in Church history, there were strong heretical movements that debated that issue: Arians, Montanists, etc.) and there are Protestant groups today that reject the notion of the Trinity. We acknowledge Christ has both God and man because of the dogma and doctrine of the Church, but the doctrine of the Trinity is only vaguely revealed in Scripture.

As a Catholic, I believe that Jesus is God the Son and also fully human, I am just saying that the Gospels alone (and this is why Sola Scriptura is dangerous) are not totally explicit on Christ’s Divinity and humanity and how they mesh as it were. That is why we need Sacred Tradition and the Magesterium.

TEPO and spn, you seem quick to attack Islam, yet you are doing so at the behest of the OP who is probably a Fundamentalist Evangelical. I find it interesting that a vocal Non-Catholic Christian comes onto a Catholic forum and then attacks Islam.

Muslims (as well as Jews) take strong offence to your belief that Jesus is God.
There are others that say they are Christians that also dont see Yeshua (pbwh) as G-d. i would not know if they would take offence.
And I say Protestantism is a greater threat to the Church than Islam because how many Catholics covert to Islam vs. how many convert to Protestantism
If i may offer for your consideration, i dont see anything as a threat to The One True Church who has power over G-d, who can have power His Church.
It is by His permission testing of our faith continues.

Bless ya pray well and stay well

Perhaps I should say a greater threat to the souls of Catholics.

spn, Yes, that would be true if Jesus had been preaching that he was God from the day one. We do not see any such activity (any such word) in the early parts of the gospel. He never preached that he was God. God need to be worshipped. But Jesus was himself worshipping his own God. That is very clear in the bibelNT.

So Jesus being God is not the principle message of Jesus. He has been made into a God by some one. There is very little of that news in the gospel. People used to know Jesus as a prophet of God for the Israelis. That is what the Muslims believe.

spn, it would be difficult for you to prove from the gospel that Jesus is God. So please do not put any pressure on God trying to prove that He was a Liar. Do not throw your ignorance on God. If you are sure that gospel repeatedly speak about Jesus as God then you could take some stand on this subject. But such is not the case.

You have evolved an idea (as believed by most christians) that Jesus is God. On the authority of that idea you are blaming God and Gabriel for telling lies. That is a wrong approach. Muslims (as well as Jews) take strong offence to your belief that Jesus is God. They will never believe that however you try.

But you can believe what you like. No harm to us. Only keep your belief to your self. Do not bring it near the Muslims in any manner. Unitarian faith will never admit such wrong belief.
It all seems to be correct. Very good.
That is doubtful. If something is not impossible it does not mean it must happen. Here you are uniting the God with man by some way of incarnation etc. Did such an incident happen only once in the history of mankind or it happened a few times??

From where did you get the above idea?. Was it some direct indication in the scripture (BibleOT/NT/Quran) or you derived it from the sacred scripture yourself? I cannot go with it.

I believe that. But remember that Jesus used to talk in parables. I understand what Jesus meant and his words were true. But the meaning you may be taking could be different to mine.

This is also true. Jesus received some commandment. Just remember please that Jesus received some commandment from Father (i.e. God).It is sure that he received them as a prophet, not as a God.

It means he used to receive some commandments in words…There must have been a medium who brought the messages (commands)… Jesus used to act on those commands. Whatever Jesus said is true. But we should not try to take wrong meanings of what he said. IN any case, literal meanings should not be taken.
How do these posts relate to and further the discussion about the topic ?

It’s a forum open to all. And a Fundamentalist Christian does not deny the Divinity of Christ.

Other than a few fringe “modernist lost” protestants…would you care to list which protestant denominations reject the Divinity of Christ as muslims do?

Thanks

Dear planten,

I will quote from all three, the Bible Old Testament, Bible New Testament, and the Qur’an.

(Genesis 1:1-2)
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”

(John 1:1)
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

In the beginning, only God the creator existed. God the creator existed as three persons in one being;
1.God
2.the Word
3.the Spirit of God.

After the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the creation of man, the second person of God, the Word, was made flesh (became man) and dwelt upon us.

(John 1:14).
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

According to the Qur’an, Jesus Christ was;
1.the Word of God (His Word)
2.the Word of God made flesh (the son of Mary)
3.the Spirit of God (a Spirit proceeding from Him)

(Sura 4:171)
“O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not “Three (Trinity)” : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is One God. Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.”

So, the Bible OT, NT and Quran are all compatible with the doctrine of the Holy Trinity and the Incarnation.

Blessings and peace.

Are you aware that all denominations of Christianity are part of the Catholic Church? They may be heretical and in dissent, but are still brothers and sisters in Christ…

All Christians are of The Church. (This is why a common baptism is acceptable)

Then explain the concept of excommunication.

As in the mutual excommunication of the pope and the bishop of Constantinople a thousand years ago?
I was thinking of it in general, but if you want to explain it using an actual case, take one more recent, like the excommunication of members of Call to Action only a few years ago.

That’s all well and good, but how can they be “of The Church” if they are outside the “path of righteousness”?
We’re outside the Church too when we have mortal sin… At that point we are no better off than one of those Call to Action Catholics. But even then, we still consider ourselves “of the Church”.

Then why is there excommunication at all?

Then why is there excommunication at all?
To keep the Church pure. It is to protect the Church from watering-down.

Those who are excommunicated are being reprimanded, and are given a choice… To stay Catholic or fall deeper into dissent… But regardless of their choice, the Church retains its purity.

The Catholic Church is the closest a soul can get to Jesus Christ… Not everyone can handle such devotion. But the Church has rings around her… Which keep souls from departing completely… It is an opportunity for souls to protect the Mother Church as well as have an opportunity to regain her membership…

Protestantism protects the Church whether it knows it or not.

(IMHO) 🙂
