This is in stark contrast to EVERY previous prophet and of course totally different to Christ.
It is unfortunate that your book, and we are free from these distortions, describes Prophet Lut [Lot] (peace be upon him) - Prophet Abraham’s pure nephew) –peace be upon him- as a drunkard and as having slept with both of his daughters, one older and the other younger, and they both got pregnant and no repercussions came from that! See Genesis chap 19 verses 30-38.
As to inconsistenciees this one fits in well with moral behavior(The Quran says you should show kindness to Parents always here): ( S. 6:151; cf. 4:36 , S. 17:23-24, S. 46:15-17 , S. 31:14-15; cf. 29:8 , ) for kindness: the bolded one i emphasise since it says you should care for a parent despite non-islamic beliefs: This contradicts with the following: ( S. 3:28 , S. 9:23-24 , Sura 58:22 ) the final one is emphasised because it is in stark contradiction to the ones imploring children to show kindness to parents even if they be non-muslim.
As to Sura.58:22 With these points in mind, it is very hard to see how Muslims are able to show kindness to their parents when they cannot even befriend or love them! After all, what type of kindness is this, which actually prohibits Muslims from even loving, let alone befriending, their parents?
This to my view is clearly in opposition to Christ who says that one should love their enemies. And thus this inconsistency in Muhammads teaching in the Quran is one reason to me in a neat little package why Muhammad cannot be a prophet. As he is not consistent and his behavior and some of his teaching is starkly opposed to that of all prior Judaeo-christian prophets and teachers. Thats not to deny the fact that there is good in Islam, but it is clearly from my understanding a religion created by man, not God.
These aren’t inconsistencies but just your lack of understanding of the texts. In Islam we have a concept called Al walaa wal baraa (loyalty and disloyalty for the sake of Allaah). When looked at as a whole, we understand and are obligated to show kindness to our parents whether they are Muslim or non Muslim. However; this love IS CONDITIONAL and not UNCONDITIONAL. Unconditional love is only for Allaah. Generally, people have natural love towards their relatives and nothing is wrong with this but revelation tells us not to go to extremes in this love. If they transgress bounds we hate them just as we would anyone else who fight us for our belief and so forth. We know and understand that our parents and anyone else are only created beings, created by Allaah and that we only obey them in what is good and not in what is bad. How do we, as Muslims, judge right from wrong, by revelation. Our parents are not protected from error, they are not Prophets, and we were not commanded to worship them. We have been commanded to worship and to love Allaah more than anything else. Our understanding is the same as all of the Prophets including Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) when he was asked by the scribes:
"…Which is the first commandment of all? "
Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) said;
" The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is ONE Lord: And thou shalt love thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. " Mark 12: 29-30 ]
First notice the emphasis on Tawheed (The teaching that God is One Absolute, with no equal or like and its opposite is Shirk-to ascribe partners to God) then he shows tremendous emphasis on how to God belongs the highest form of love and devotion, no one else. Whatever your Creator commands you to do you do it, no matter who tries to prevent you. If you dismiss the commands of Allaah for the commands of men, this is a form of Shirk (polytheism) and ones claim to truly believe in The Creator was just words that passed through his/her mouth. If you love others the same as you love the Creator, this is Shirk of love. If you love them as you love God, then you never really understood the first commandment and you would be willing to obey creation equally or more than you obey The Creator of the heavens and the earth.
The Holy Qur’an says –translation-:
2:165-
Yet there are men who take (for worship) others besides Allah, as equal (with Allah.: They love them as they should love Allah. But those of Faith are overflowing in their love for Allah. If only the unrighteous could see, behold, they would see the penalty: that to Allah belongs all power, and Allah will strongly enforce the penalty.
A believer can only have one master. Another example of conditional love within the bible is when Jesus (peace be upon him) said:
“If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.” (Luke 14:26)
“Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.” (Matthew 10:34-39)
If this doesn’t sound like loyalty and disloyalty for the cause, I don’t know what is.
All praise be to Allaah, the Lord of all that exist.
