On the side here, in the book, ‘The Desire of All Fulfillment’, the Catholic spiritual doctors of the Church assented that our relationships founded in Christ will go on in the next life, and continue to grow in the Lord.

So married couples in this life whose marriages are Christ oriented will grow in heaven but it will not be carnal as that is for propagation.

One of the big victories for pornography is that it separated the sex act from the procreation of a child…contraceptive heaven???

Sex creates a baby. We do not believe heaven will be used for creating new beings. It is all done here on earth.

I found this information for you from islam q&a web site:

Why are some things forbidden in this world when they are permitted in Paradise?

The Q&A has way too much information for copy/paste so I’ll just enclose the internet link.

islam-qa.com/en/ref/4994/paradise

Also there are over 900 fatwas from this site explaining Q&A for paradise…

islam-qa.com/en/search2/paradise/AllWords/t,q,a

I also found this for you:

What is there for Woman in Paradise?

islam-qa.com/en/ref/608/heaven
Thank you. Read the last one re. women.

There was a woman Umarah-al-Ansariyyah who went to the Prophet and said to him, " I feel that everything is for men. Women are not mentioned as having anything."

Observant lady. After, Mohammed apparently had a revelation. Things were then adjusted and there is a statement “All men and women will have just rewards for their deeds.”

And that brings up the question, once again, if both sexes will have just rewards and men get 72 virgins etc., do Muslim women get the same?

Please note that it was a Christian that had to come up with information re. Islam.

Found another fatwa for your review about “women” & the number 72…

Again, this is from islam Q&A and it’s NOT a anti-islamic site…

The female martyr and the male martyr’s reward of seventy-two hoor al-‘iyn
If a woman is killed as a martyr for the sake of Allaah, how does the hadeeth “The shaheed will be married to seventy-two hoor al-‘iyn” apply to her?

Praise be to Allaah.

We put this question to Shaykh ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Jibreen, may Allaah preserve him, who answered as follows:

** This number is only for men. A woman will have only one husband in Paradise, and she will be satisfied with him and will not need any more than that. **

The Muslim woman – who is not influenced by the claims of those who propagate permissiveness and knows that she is not like men in her make-up and nature, because Allaah has made her like that – does not object to the rulings of Allaah or feel angry. Rather she accepts what Allaah has decreed for her. Her sound nature tells her that she cannot live with more than one man at a time. So long as she has entered Paradise, she will have all that she desires, so she should not dispute now about the delights and rewards that her Lord has chosen for her, for your Lord does not treat anyone unjustly. If she is one of the people of Paradise, then she is included, like men, in the words of Allaah (interpretation of the meaning):

“Trays of gold and cups will be passed round them; (there will be) therein all that inner-selves could desire, and all that eyes could delight in and you will abide therein forever”

[al-Zukhruf 43:71]

We ask Allaah for al-Firdaws, the highest part of Paradise. May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad.

I notice that some have said there will be no alcohol in Heaven and I thought, “That’s not what Jesus said”.

Mark 14:25
Amen I say to you, that I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I shall drink it new in the kingdom of God.

Matthew 26:29
And I say to you, I will not drink from henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I shall drink it with you new in the kingdom of my Father.
wow , it’s amazing that no one comment on that

i was plan actually to invistigate about heavin from point of view of the bible to see if it was in harmony with the thoughts of church and to know why exactly our friends from cathoics have objections about paradise in islam !

thank you for sharing these verses , Church Militant

more proofs that paradise is physical according to the bible

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To those who are victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. Revelation 2:7

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. (Revelation 22:2)

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure (thesauros) in heaven. Then come, follow me.” (Matthew 19:21)

The word thesauros could mean…
  1. the place in which good and precious things are collected and laid up
    a) a casket, coffer, or other receptacle, in which valuables are kept
    b) a treasury
    c) storehouse, repository, magazine
  2. the things laid up in a treasury, collected treasures

The title of the thread is "islam & afterlife" NOT “Christianity & afterlife”.

**The moderator has warned us several times on this thread to “stay on topic”…**or he will terminate the thread or lock it up.

That is why no one addressed the poster about the Bible & wine.

Thank you so much for this information.

And in case anyone should be concern that this is going off-topic, I would say that what Prophet Jesus (pbuh) says about the afterlife according to the Bible, such as the verses that you have quoted, is indeed what Islam teaches about the Hereafter.

After all, there is a good reason why Muslims regard Prophet Jesus (pbuh) to be one of the mightiest Prophets in Islam.

About wine in heaven…You can look to the last passages of Revelations…that are the replica of the Mass…our first step into heaven from here on earth…

The Lord said we would be at banquet table…there would be many mansions… there will be a new heaven and a new earth…no more tears…all illuminated by Jesus Christ…

All our neediness will be satisfied in Christ alone…I don’t think people will be concerned whether or not their drink, if they need one…will be even given a second thought…Jesus is now and then in the future the source of our banquet…His Body and Blood Who gives us eternal life…

All the rest is conjecturing…

Interesting write-up from CAF Encyclopedia:

Mohammed and Mohammedanism

The joys and glories of Paradise are as fantastic and sensual as the lascivious Arabian mind could possibly imagine. "As plenty of water is one of the greatest additions to the delights of the Bedouin Arab, the Koran often speaks of the rivers of Paradise as a principal ornament thereof; some of these streams flow with water, some with milk, some with wine and others with honey, besides many other lesser springs and fountains, whose pebbles are rubies and emeralds, while their earth consists of camphor, their beds of musk, and their sides of saffron.

But all these glories will be eclipsed by the resplendent and ravishing girls, or houris, of Paradise, the enjoyment of whose company will be the principal felicity of the faithful. These maidens are created not of clay, as in the case of mortal women, but of pure musk, and free from all natural impurities, defects, and inconveniences.

They will be beautiful and modest and secluded from public view in pavilions of hollow pearls. The pleasures of Paradise will be so overwhelming that God will give to everyone the potentialities of a hundred individuals.

To each individual a large mansion will be assigned, and the very meanest will have at his disposal at least 80,000 servants and seventy-two wives of the girls of Paradise. While eating they will be waited on by 300 attendants, the food being served in dishes of gold, whereof 300 shall be set before him at once, containing each a different kind of food, and an inexhaustible supply of wine and liquors.

The magnificence of the garments and gems is conformable to the delicacy of their diet. For they will be clothed in the richest silks and brocades, and adorned with bracelets of gold and silver, and crowns set with pearls, and will make use of silken carpets, couches, pillows, etc., and in order that they may enjoy all these pleasures, God will grant them perpetual youth, beauty, and vigor.

Music and singing will also be ravishing and everlasting" (Wollaston, “Muhammed, His Life and Doctrines”).

elwil…if there will be wine in our heaven, it will be wine. We drink it here. To me it is no big thing. Wine is also part of our communion. For Muslims, you don’t drink on this earth and when you get to heaven you’ll get “wine” but it will not have alcholol in it. If it isn’t fermented, it is grape juice. So, you are not getting wine.

Let me try and give you what Catholic heaven is like. We participate in the Beatific Vision which means we see and know God. What will that be like? The most thrilling thing in this life on earth is to fall in love. Ever happen to you? You see the one you love and you are joyous, you lose your breath, you float on air. Take those feelings and expand them a million times. That is what it will be like when you see God…for Catholics. There is nothing that will ever compare to that. You will never want to leave Him. It will be a feeling that words can not describe and it will continue non stop through eternity. You are enveloped in LOVE.

In comparison to that, I can’t even conceive that you’d settle for 72 virgins.

“Allah has made her like that”…so she gets one husband. What if she doesn’t like her husband and he was abusive to her on earth. Why does she have to stay with him?
What does a single woman get in heaven?

Although some Muslims take more than one wife, most have just one wife. Now what happens when they go to paradise and surprises the wife with their desire to have 72 virgins? What happens if we now find out that the good Muslim man on earth actually has had desires for boys/young men?

If Allah made him homosexual, why wasn’t he allowed to act out on those feelings on earth?

How do you address this with your children? If you suspect your son to be gay do you instruct them that they must keep these desires hidden on earth. Do you tell them in religious classes that you can be stoned on earth for sleeping with a man but in heaven you can be gay? This must have come up in the past because Islam does say they’ll be rewarded in heaven with boys or young men. If Muslim men can be gay, what does a gay Muslim woman receive in paradise?

I think some members here are trying to portrait the muslim heaven as a sort of place of physical pleasure while the christian heaven is a place of spiritual bliss and giving a normative ranking. If you prefere your views over the ones of islam i dont see why anyone would want to debate any further … but thats me and how i think.

I would like to remind everyone here that this thread is about “Islam and Afterlife”. I can understand why people are tempted to ‘compare’ the different perspectives but this shouldnt be done and is not the topic of this thread.

Aicirt, your post was not directed to me but i would still like to comment on it if i may (btw you use the explicit word “comparison”).

I can assure everyone here that the islamic heaven/paradise (someone asked me for the difference, which i must say that i use both terms synonymously so i either dont know or think that there isnt one) is one of

physical delight and spiritual delight

just as you mr. aicirt described. The same love, the same nearness, the same definite experiece of Allah, the same never ending bliss and happiness.

“It shouldn’t be done and is not the topic of this thread” your concept is totally strange to the Christian mind. What do you expect? Total acceptance? This is, after all, a Catholic board. You will get a Catholic slant on this.

Please note that this is the first time you or any Muslim has mentioned being in the presence of God. Muslim heaven has been constantly described by the pleasures you will obtain and they’re sexual pleasures which is TOTALLY mindboggling to the Catholic mind.

Yes, I used the “explicit word ‘comparison’”. So?

I’m trying to understand how you can accept this. I have fellow Christians researching on this board but not having too much luck with the Muslims answering questions. Certainly, you must have wondered about some of this yourself? Why so indignant?

Did you just accept that a man can be stoned to death for homosexuality but can be rewarded in heaven with young boys? There has to be a time in Muslim history when it became necessary to stipulate that homosexuals or pedophiles will be rewarded in Muslim heaven. Do you know under what circumstances this revelation occured?

Right now I’m imagining a situation where some pedophiles needed to be encouraged to give their lives for a cause. And maybe there was some insight that if they gave their lives they’d be able to enjoy themselves in heaven rather than be stoned to death.

Here’s another question: Do you believe in the Bible? The 10 Commandments? I know you believe in Abraham and in Moses. Where do you break off?

Stop right there mr. aicirt you are talking about homos and pedos as if its part of my religious doctrine while for me you are not making sense at all!

I thought this is a religious forum where people would deal others with respect for the reason that we have on thing in commonality which is the faith in a higher, superior and moral entity that has created us and the reality we are living in.

So if you deem this to be true, then for the sake of being us being believers dont throw uncessesary harsh words like homos and pedos! I wont do that and i expect (yes, i expect that) that from others too.

Your asking me of questions after questions that range from a variety of topics is a bad move from your side and shows me that you lack kognitive abilities to order your thoughts and categorise and prioritise knowledge. I know that bombarding a person with questions is a strategy used by people who have no good intentions of having a respectable debate. I ask you to reflect on what you want to achive debating with me. Im willing to talk about things as long as they are on topic one by one. I pick your answer to my post and start from there.

You said: “Please note that this is the first time you or any Muslim has mentioned being in the presence of God. Muslim heaven has been constantly described by the pleasures you will obtain and they’re sexual pleasures which is TOTALLY mindboggling to the Catholic mind.”

You admitted to your little knowledge of Islam “I find the little I know about Islam incomprehensible.” Maybe that is an answer as to why you hear this the first time. Im guessing from what i know about you (which is not much). You say Muslim heaven is described by physical pleasures. No muslim has ever denied this and this is part of the reward the believers receive. Paradise is a place where every wish is fulfilled.

As a side note: a muslim cannot enter paradise until he is not fully cleansed from his sins. Homosexuality is a sin in Islam and there is no place for such in paradise. A person with homosexual tendencies will be cleaned from it. How is a persons sins cleaned?
  1. He repents and does not commit the same sin (however, Allah is All-Forgiving and especially He is Oft-Forgiving, so if a person falls back into his sinful habit he still can be forgiven if he repents anew. One must repent with the intentions of not commiting the sin again and mean it or otherwise it is not real repentance and Allah knows what is in the hearts of His creation)
  2. Some of his good deeds will be traded for the sins. I.e. if a muslim sinned by harming another person, the other person has a right over some of his good deeds on the day of judgement. So the deeds will be transfered to the scale of the person who had been harmed.
  3. If however the person was a great sinner and is left with no or very few good deeds it might be that Allah commands him into hellfire. Hellfire is a purification and a punishment. So if a believer was punished Allah might grant him paradise after ALL his sins have been cleared, i.e. he has been purified of his sins.
  4. Only without sins, you will enter paradise. (i want to add that this is not a complete list, its just what i remember)
Once every wish of the believers has been fulfilled and the believers have been satisfied by the promise of Allah and found their resting places in paradise:

continued: Once every wish of the believers has been fulfilled and the believers have been satisfied by the promise of Allah and found their resting places in paradise:
On the day that the caller will call:
‘O People of Paradise! Your Lord - Blessed and Exalted - requests you to visit Him, so come to visit Him!’ So they will say: ‘We hear and obey!’
Until, when they finally reach the wide valley where they will all meet - and none of them will turn down the request of the caller - the Lord - Blessed and Exalted - will order His Chair to be brought there.
Then, pulpits of light will emerge, as well as pulpits of pearls, gemstone, gold, and silver. The lowest of them in rank will sit on sheets of musk, and will not see what those who are on the chairs above them are given. When they are comfortable where they are sitting and are secure in their places, and the caller calls:
’O People of Paradise! You have an appointment with Allaah in which He wishes to reward you!’ So they will say: 'And what is that reward? Has He not already made our faces bright, made our scales heavy, entered us into Paradise, and pushed us away from the Fire?’
And when they are like that, all of a sudden a light shines that encompasses all of Paradise. So, they raise their heads, and, behold: the **Compeller - Exalted is He, and Holy are His Names - has come to them from above them and majestified them **and said:
‘O People of Paradise! Peace be upon you!’ So, this greeting will not be responded to with anything better than: ‘O Allaah! You are Peace, and from You is Peace! Blessed are You, O possessor of Majesty and Honor!’ So the Lord – Blessed and Exalted – will laugh to them and say: ‘O People of Paradise! Where are those who used to obey Me without having ever seen Me? This is the Day of Increase!’
So, they will all give the same response: ‘We are pleased, so be pleased with us!’ So, He will say: ‘O People of Paradise! If I were not pleased with you, I would not have made you inhabitants of My Paradise! So, ask of Me!’ So, they will all give the same response: ****‘Show us your Face so that we may look at it!’ So, the Lord – Mighty and Majestic – will remove his covering ****and will majestify them and will cover them with His Light, which, if Allaah – the Exalted – had not Willed not to burn them, would have burned them.
And there will not remain a single person in this gathering except that his Lord – the Exalted – will speak to him and say: ‘Do you remember the day that you did this and that?’ and He will remind him of some of his bad deeds in the Worldy life, so he will say: ‘O Lord! Will you not forgive me?’ So, He will say: ‘Of course! You have not reached this position of yours (in Paradise) except by my forgiveness.’
So, how sweet is this speech to the ears, and how cooled are the righteous eyes by the glance at His Noble Face in the Afterlife…
{Some faces that Day will be shining and radiant, looking at their Lord…} (Quran 75:22-3)
Seeing and being with Allah is the greatest reward after all the pleasures the believer will be given. Satisfaction over satisfaction. Unimagineable and for now so much desireable. May i be one of those fortunate people who witness the sight of Allah.

Hi there… please use standard font & color… this light DIM gray color you chose, does not work with us “elderly” folk… 😛 Thanks!

Perhaps a black bold font will do! 👍

i actually wanted to put the text ‘back’ because it was just a side note to the homosexual remark from mr. aicirt and i wanted to get that done with that argument from ever apearing again .

I changed the color i hope it is a bit easier to read now.

Hi there again…
I know you stated that heaven/paradise when used in posts by you, you use both terms synonymously.

Not knowing you islamic ~sect~ background… sunny. shia… ahmadi… (etal)…do all muslims say paradise & mean heaven and vice-a-versa…?

Now that you are saying, perhaps they are not the same. Paradise (Jannah) being the eternal resting place for the believers while heaven is spoken of in Quran often mentioned “heavens and the earth” (fis -samawati wa ma fil-'ard). Ill use paradise for the metaphysical garden that awaits the believers from now on.

OK, thanks Licht…

Can you please identify what part of islam you come from…??

Please explain the Paradise?jannah as the eternal resting place for believers…

And what is the difference of the heaven that the koran speaks about…

Thanks much…

The Qur’anic description of Jannah just proves that it was made up by a man and did not come from God. A lush, green garden with plenty of fruit was the most beautiful thing that a man living in the desert could imagine. This description of the afterlife doesn’t even come close to being one with God.
