Islam: Evil or Targetted?

The crux of my point (or question, if you will) is this:

To what extent does the press coverage (particularly in Western culture) help shape a feeling of distaste towards the faith of Islam?
The press is an individual’s only means of contact with the rest of the world. So its extent of shaping us is great.

Rather than speculating on what persons unknown to us believe, perhaps a pertinent measurement would be what percentage of Muslims publicly condemned the murders of September 11. There were cheers, and those cheers were broadcast worldwide. But who condemned the murders?

I’m sure that some Muslims have condemned the killings, although I have never heard such a condemnation myself. What percentage did?
Please check out this page–Muslims Condemn Terrorist Attacks

.It is not a complete listing of all condemnations written or spoken by Muslims but is intended to provide a representative sample

Approximately 7% of Muslims approved of the 9/11 attacks

Iran held candle light vigils in Tehran, and one of Pakistans most concervative clerics(name excapes me) said it was the duty of all good Muslims to support the US in Afghanistan.

I have known many Muslims, never once has a single one supported what Bin Laden did, nor should they.
Concerns about such things as cartoons might be taken more seriously if the murder of thousands of people was also taken seriously. I’m sure that some Muslims have condemned the killings, although I have never heard such a condemnation myself. What percentage did?

I’d say 7% are evil and 100% are targeted.

According to recent polls 93% of Muslims worldwide condemn 9-11 attacks.

If you consider that there are 1.5 billion Muslims, that equates to 105 million that support 9-11. When there is a number of people that large that are okay with terrorism it seems reasonable to be weary. Accounts of people who had dealings with the 9-11 hijackers they say “they seemed like nice normal guys.”

My heart goes out to the 93% that condemn the attacks.

I agrea, 7% in 1.5 billion is a serious concern, however look at the statics of American Christians who beleive torture to be justifiable, stunning.

So I clicked on the link to the poll and it was titled:

Poll: 93% of Muslims Worldwide Condemn 9/11 Attacks -
**0% Approve of Attacks on Religious Grounds **

So those 7% even are not basing their opinion on the religion but merely political dissatisfaction. Given the current international climate, I would say that 7% is a small figure.

Before asking questions of this sort about Islam, Christians need to first ask themselves what exactly it is that constitutes either ‘good’ or ‘evil’.

I do not believe that there are to be found many Christians in the world who would be able to clearly define the difference between ‘good’ and ‘evil’ without at the same time contradicting what is written in their own Bible.
Do you know the difference between good and evil since you follow a man who looted and raided caravans, who had people killed simply for writing satyrical poems about him, who had sex with a nine year old child, who raped women captives after having them watch their husbands being tortured and killed!

As a faithful Catholic, I would have to say Islam is evil, because it leads people away from Jesus Christ and salvation.

That is not to say moslems are evil. Some are evil, some are good, some are indifferent, like all people.

But, if we believe the words of Christ, any religion that denies His divinity is leading people to damnation.

God Bless

It is possible for a person to disagree with Islam without having to make up stories (lies) to defame a people, to defame a religion, and without committing such gross offenses that could never be uttered by the tongue of a righteous person.

Bilop provides such an example. He disagrees with Islam–even called it evil–but with the kind of courtesy appropriate on such a forum as this.

Booklover, on the other hand, still has a lesson to learn before she should be allowed to post.

Sister Amy, if you find a post to be uncharitable, the most expeditious remedy is not to call someone out publicly, but to report it to the moderators using the small triangular icon in the upper right corner.

Of course I did report the post to the moderators, as I have reported many other posts before. I have never seen any response to my reports, however, and am afraid that my complaints fall on deaf ears. So I will continue to report, but also make a statement.

It is not that people disagree with Islam that upsets me, or any Muslim. It is a kind of behavior that mocks and ridicules what is considered sacred. I know I would never see a righteous and learned person of any religion espousing the vulgarities which are regular assaults on Islam here on CAF. So consider that I am only directing your sister to a higher standard of conduct more in line with the teachings of her own faith.

What lies are you talking about? Your prophet has been accused of those things many times. You’re the one who doesn’t want to face the truth and continue to ignore the evil things he did or else you approve of his behaviour!

There are two different types of people who frequent this forum.

The first type like to get into meaningless arguments, slander and libel one another, be insulting, etc.

The second type enjoys a higher form of communication, where we can learn from one another and appreciate the peaceful diversity of opinion which exists in the world.

Those in the second category are wasting their time when they indulge the masochism of those in the first. Those in the first are fulfilling various masochistic psychological needs. They need to feel persecuted, or attacked, in order to give their spiritual lives some meaning. They attack back, with meaningless arguments and personal slights, then they pat one another on the back and rejoice in how “correct” they are.

You, Sister Amy, are of the second type. If you’re arguing with those in the first category then you’re simply wasting your time.

This forum has an ignore feature. Populate it with the time wasters, and concentrate on having enjoyable conversations with the many of us who enjoy differences of opinion.

Muhammad as looter:

He first started raiding the Meccans’ merchant caravans. Then he moved on to expel and massacre the Jews of Medina and other places in Arabia and looted their belongings. Eventually he decreed that every person who believes in him should pay tithes and those who don’t should pay a larger amount as jizyah (protection fee) or prepare to die. They were “warned”, submit of die, very much like the mafia operated. Several verses of the Quran exhort Muslims to raid the unbelievers promising booty in this world and heavenly rewards in the other.

Allah promiseth you much booty that ye will capture, and hath given you this in advance, and hath withheld men’s hands from you, that it may be a token for the believers, and that He may guide you on a right path. [al-Fath http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/048.qmt.html#048.020”]48:20]

And that which Allah gave as spoil unto His messenger from them, ye urged not any horse or riding-camel for the sake thereof, but Allah giveth His messenger lordship over whom He will. Allah is Able to do all things. [al-Hashr http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/059.qmt.html#059.020”]59:6]

Now enjoy what ye have won, as lawful and good, and keep your duty to Allah. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. [al-Anfalhttp://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/008.qmt.html#008.069”]8:69]

These verses were stated to goad the believers to take part in the wars. They also tell us about the caliber of the people who converted to Islam. Muhammad convinced them that God has instructed them to attack innocent people, take them by surprise, kill them and loot their wives and properties as booty?

You have accused me of lying and I’ve provided the proof for my statements.
