Thank you for sharing your personal story and views with me, R_not. I respect greatly that you are willing to do so. It helps to understand where people are coming from, and parts of your story are relatable to my family’s own story as well. My cousin has served in Iraq (the current war, not the first), and now will perhaps be heading to Afghanistan. My family has a military tradition stretching at least back to WWII where my grandfathers each served (one as a medic and one as a soldier). I have the utmost respect for all who serve in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world. Theirs is a sacrifice I cannot imagine making, and I am very thankful that they are willing to do so.
I guess I am just dealing with the Muslims that I see on an day-to-day basis, not necessarily connecting them to specific events or peoples in the Middle East. So I approach them differently because if I approach them in a friendly, loving manner, hopefully I can help to show them what is good in Christianity through my individual interactions with them. If they are lying when they say they respect me, then it is on their consciences. They will have to answer to THE LORD in the end, and we can at least both agree that the Lord is NOT Muhammad’s version of God!
