Now the parakletos is a holy spirit but is this about Mohammad? …
This good analysis is long but interesting because its thesis is that Islam must be rejected because it is self-contradictory. It also addresses this “parakletos” issue that Muslims grasp at like so many straws. At the risk of defending Christianity in lieu of questioning Islam, I quote part of it here because Muslims rely on it as some sort of “proof” of Mohammed’s prophethood:
Jesus Predicted "Ahmad"
In the following passage, the Koran depicts Jesus making a prediction that an apostle will come after him by the name of Ahmad.
And of Jesus son of Mary, who said to the Israelites: ‘I am sent forth to you from God to confirm the Torah already revealed, and to give news of an apostle that will come after me whose name is Ahmad.’ (p. 391, 61:1, 4th Para. – 61:8.)
The name “Ahmad” is taken [by Muslims] as a reference to Mohammed since the name Mohammed is a compounded version of the name “Ahmad.”

Now, the New Testament was written in Greek, so the word “Ahmad” does [sic] not actually found in the New Testament. However, Muslim apologists have argued that the Greek word “periklutos,” which means, “praised one,” does appear in the New Testament – or at least it was supposed to. While neither “periklutos” nor a derivative of it appears in the New Testament, the argument is that the Greek word “parakletos,” which does appear in the New Testament, is a corrupted or mistaken occurrence of “periklutos.” In this way, “periklutos” would have appeared in the New Testament if it were not for an error that somehow recorded “parakletos” in its place.
The definition of “parakletos” is listed below.
3875 parakletos
a root word; TDNT – 5:800,782; n m
AV – comforter 4, advocate 1; 5
  1. summoned, called to one’s side, esp. called to one’s aid
1a) one who pleads another’s cause before a judge, a pleader, counsel for defense, legal assistant, an advocate
“Parakletos,” (Strong’s No. 3875) is translated as “Comforter” in the Gospel of John, which provides the key passage on this issue.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter (3875), that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14:26 But the Comforter (3875), which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 15:26 But when the Comforter (3875) is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter (3875) will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you…13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
If the Greek word “parakletos” were to be changed to “periklutos” as Muslim apologists suggest, then these passages might indeed state that God would send a “praised one” after Jesus, which in the Arabic tongue would translate as sending “Ahmad.” At this time we should point out that Mohammed’s claim that Jesus predicted him requires a specific appeal to words contained in the written Gospels.
… there are several problems that prevent us from accepting the Koran’s interpretation of these passages.
First, other than the desire to substantiate Mohammed’s claim, there is no reason to suspect corruption of the text of these passages. While periklutos and parakletos might look or sound similar, they have two distinct meanings in the Greek. Periklutos may mean “praised one,” but parakletos means “advocate” or “comforter.” The meanings are quite distinct. And we have no indication either from within the text itself or from external manuscript evidence that indicates that there was a switch from periklutos to parakletos. The result is that this becomes the proverbial circular argument.
These passages are cited as proof of Mohammed’s divine mandate. But when we examine the passages themselves, we find nothing in the texts that will support this conclusion unless the reader already believes that Mohammed is Jesus’ successor and that the text was supposed to point to him. So, this text provides no objective evidence of Mohammed’s claim.
Please note that Mohammed relies on the New Testament to validate himself. If Christianity had never existed, Islam wouldn’t either.

I have studied Greek and there is not 1 shred of evidence that parakletos means praised one. Periklutos means praiseworthy but that word is never used in the entire NT. Furthermore Muslim claims that the parakletos has to be human are absurd becauseit is described as a spirit, and always in neuter.

If this spirit really meant “prophet” like Muslims say then it would not be in nueter but masculine because its talking about a male prophet. But this is never the case because it uses neuter the spirit is neither male or female so does not posses human qualities. On top of this it says he wont be seen, unless Mohammad was invisible its not about Mohammad.

The more and more I talk to Muslims and hear such utter garbage which they believe to be true so completely the more i think Islam has eroded their brains. Not even fundamentalist evangelicals come up with such bad biblical interpretations. And that is saying something.

so , you wanna to say that Periklutos means praiseworthy !
do you know what is the meaning of “Mohammed” ? in the matter you don’t know so i will be happy to inform you that mohammed means praiseworthy

what is the spirit then , the spirit for me is the soul
evey living thing consist of the body and the spirit , the death means the separation of spirit from the body
so , there is no problems if you refered to human by the word spirit , and the spirit can to be for woman and can to be for a man
so , you give me your insight

Mohammad means praised one. Periklutos does mean praiseworthy but this word is not used in the entire NT. Parakletos on the other hand means advocate, aid, comforter etc. they arent the same word. This is one of dedat’s lies.

The parakletos is a spirit which cannot be seen, it is not referring to a man because it is in the nueter. It cannot be referring to a man. So you say well maybe its referring to Mohammad’s soul? Hahah well if it was referring to mohamamd’s soul it would be ψυχη psuche . It is clear that the parakletos is not mohamamd. It never says he is a man but a spirit which is holy , which is also invisible. Was Mohammad invisible? I dont think so! John uses the neuter form on purpose because the Parakeltos Is not human, why not just use the Greek for male spirit instead of neuter if its talking about mohamamd? It is impossible for him to be the parakeltos and you don’t have a shred of proof he is. All you muslims can do is twist scripture so it fits with your Islamic beliefs.

another Islamic lie against the bible refuted have a nice day:D

Why do Muslims have to go to such lengths to find “proof” in the Bible that they allege refer to Islam and/or Mohammad? Why can’t Islam and Mohammed just stand on their own without any help from “corrupted” documents?

How can you support Muhammad with the “corrupted” Bible that you don’t believe in? I do not understand Islamic logic at all. In fact, there doesn’t seem to be any when it comes to this subject.

I already know the answer to this (“not all of the Bible is corrupted; the parts of it that confirm the Qur’an are not corrupted”), but this is a stupid answer since from the point of view of the people who actually know the Bible, the Christians and the Jews (for the Old Testament), Islam is not confirmed or even related to their scripture. If we said to Muslims that Jesus’ divinity is confirmed in the Qur’an, Muslims would laugh in our faces because it’s so obviously not the case. This is the same with the Bible concerning Muhammad. It is a ridiculous assertion that only convinces MUSLIMS or those predisposed to believe in Islam. No Christian who knows anything about their religion will be taken in by it.

Mega 👍 !

Right. There is nothing in the Bible that support Mohammed being Jesus’ successor unless you already believe that Mohammed is Jesus’ successor and that the text was supposed to point to him. Just more Muslim there-has-to-be-a-pony-in-there-somewhere circular reasoning.

Exactly its pure misinformation Muslim scholars say this is a prophecy of Mohammad but half of them cant even spell the word parakletos properly. I have seen them spell it pariklytos. Muslims don’t know the 1st thing about Koine Greek and what the word actually means when they make such weak arguments.

Even if the parakletos wasn’t the holy spirit and was a man what evidence is there that its Mohammad? None! It could be anyone in human history but its strange that if its about Mohammad its described as a spirit and a holy spirit.

Hahah planteen reckons that the song of Solomon is about Mohammad. Now that is really grasping at straws. Muslims always criticize it for being erotic but now its about Mohammad. What nonsense!

Jesus the Son of God came to us, preached to turn the other cheek and the love our enemies and then died painfully for our sins.

Does it follow that this same God would predict the coming of a raping murderer and say he is the one sent to us by God?

Does “pariklytos” mean “pony” in Greek?

**My note to sedonaman and Deus. You are making a joke of Jesus words. Please note that Jesus had a donkey. He rode on it to Jerusalem. So the donkey of Jesus is world famous. Some said that he was riding two donkeys at once. Anyhow, while you are discussing the parclete as a donkey (pony), I thought I should remind you of the donkey of Jesus. It is so famous that in Islamic world there is a poetic stanza: (in Persian).

Khar e Eisa Agar beh Makkah rawadd,
Choun Be aayad hunooz Khar baashad.

Meaning: The donkey of Jesus, even if he (it) went to Makkah, when it will return, it will still be a donkey. (That means will not progress spiritually.)

Also more important is the donkey of the anti-christ. That was prophesied by the holy Prophet Muhammad. That when anti-christ will come, he will have a special donkey, very big donkey which will travel on land and sea. There will be a span of seventy feet between his two ears.

It will move with big speed and will carry many passengers, believers and non-believers. It will eat fire.

Of course these are symbolic matters only and it appears that we have already got the donkey of anti-christ amongst us now. Only one has to look out for that donkey

The news given by the prophet is right. Only we have to recognise the anti-christ and his donkey. Please do. **.

This is really good stuff. Have you considered writing fiction for a career?

That is a cute story. Of course, going to Makkah (Mecca) progresses no one spiritually as what happens there is the pagan ceremony from the 3rd and 4th century Arabian tribes.

But the poem does make a good point in that it requires free will to accept God, just as it took Mahomet’s free will to accept the devil.

Did Jesus’ donkey go to heaven after it died? If so, is it a spirit?

yes IT DID. The donkey,Judas, and Hitler all have a roor with the three little pigs, its on the 5th floor

**In those words of Persian poetry, if you replace the word “Makkah” by “Jerusalem” it will still aplly very well. Please see the revised words below:

Khar e Eisa Agar beh Jerusalem rawadd,
Choun Be aayad hunooz Khar baashad.**

Meaning: The donkey of Jesus, even if he (it) went to Jerusalem, when it will return, it will still be a donkey. (That means will not progress spiritually.)

So I believe that the donkey of Jesus was brought back and tied up at its same old post outside Jerusalem from where it was borrowed. And it was still a donkey, no more saintly, no more purified.

Like the great debates on how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, what does this have to do with whether or not you get into heaven?
