There were many Arab Jews and Christians who had the name “servant of Allah” in pre-Islamic Arabia like the Jewish Rabbi “Abdullah bin Salam”…

Did they also worship the “moon god” ??

Louie1983:
It is apparent from your comment here that your understanding of the christian faith is below par, quite bad actually. The catholic faith says that it is 1 god in 3 divine persons, not 3 gods making up 1 big god. There is nothing pagan about the idea of the trinity given that jesus mentioned the trinity when he said “go out to all nations and baptise them in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit”.

Many have tried to explain this to you in this thread but you continue to ignore it, typical.

**Louie, I read for the first time that Allah was also three parts. trdchubi had suggested that in the post. So it came to my mind that trdchubi was creating some kind of trinity for the Muslims, You see the catholics are free to invent all sorts of things against Islam. But we are not allowed to even point out to some discrepancy in the bible.

I agree with the saying of jesus (100 %) that followers should preach to all Jews in the world in the name of the father, the son and the holy ghost. There is no harm. But when you people try to take wrong meanings of things then there is a cause for objection. I do not mind that you preach in the name of father, the son and holy ghost. Only do not make the son and the holy ghost as gods.

We preach in the name of Allah and Muhammad. But we do not take Muhammad as a God. You could also do the same. In fact it would be necessary to preach in the name of Jesus because Jesus is an important link to your theology and approach to God. When you talk about God and tell a few things, any one can ask :“From where you got those things?” You can then reply “Jesus”. There is no harm in preaching in the name of Jesus.

Jesus told you to preach in his name. But did he tell you to preach in the name of Jesus as a god? No. Not at all. You have made that all up yourself. Same is the case with holy ghost. That is also an important link in the christian faith, and must be mentioned.

I have read the bible. I have told you what i understand by that verse you have mentioned. You are having three gods and One God, i.e. running back to One God also. That is your business. You think I do not understand. I understand everything. Only i do not think that you are right in your beliefs of a Tri-partite God or Triune God. But of course I do not object to your thinking. You are free to believe what you like.

You stick to your belief. I will join you when I am convinced. keep praying.

I’m no Zionist or anything, but let’s try to elevate the dialogue here a little bit higher than taunts of “You got OWNED!” or “You worship a pagan moon God named Allah”, okay? Islam’s truth or falsehood doesn’t depend on who uses what word for God. I have no problem calling God “Allah” as my brothers in the Arabic-speaking churches do, and I know that I am not praying to a “pagan moon God” or anything like that when I do so! That’s just insulting.

Without understanding the word “Owned”, I find this post honest, balanced, useful post, . It is a good post.

Wow silly me:rolleyes: By the way FYI he was not called abdullah ibn salam as a yathrib rabbi. He was more commonly known as Al-Husayn ibn Salam. NOT ABDULLAH.

muhammad gave him his name “servant of allah” during his conversion just like muslims do today with their newly decieved minions.

A jewish rabbi in medina would be a good start to attract converts to make muhammad’s lies look more credible.

When islam became the dominant political force people were coerced to use the name allah for God or suffer the consequences from the hands of militant muslims. Because of islam’s dominance allah became the common name of God. The translators of the Bible gave in to the religious pressures and substituted allah for Yahweh in the Arabic Bibles, but this is not the name of the God of the Hebrews, nor of the creator who made heaven and earth because of its source in paganism. His nature and attributes have only a few basic similarities and many more differences. And the most important point is that all through the qu’ran it says allah has no son.
Very well. What is the name of the biblical God in the Arabic language?

Allah is a contraction of al-ilah (The God). I can’t think of anything better to call Him.

Oye, that reminds me of a terrible broadcast of Search the Scriptures with Dave Hunt, where he ranted in his usual rambling style about the word Allah. One of the things he said was Allah can’t be the name for God because you couldn’t find it used in the Old Testament. Well duh, why would you find an Arabic name for God in a book primarily written in Hebrew and Aramaic? That’d be like saying the Korean name for God isn’t legit because it’s not found in the New Testament.
If that is the worst Criticism for a Dave Hunt book then he is doing pretty well.

Are there any pre-islam Christian documents/Bibles refererring to God as allah for the Christians living in Arab lands / Middle East?

Does anyone know - I’ve googled and googled and can’t locate any.

I got plenty more criticism of Dave Hunt where that comes from - as I’m sure most members of CAF do 😉

The fact is the logic of saying “You can’t find an Arabic name for God in a Hebrew/Aramaic text, therefore it can’t be God” is like arguing “I can’t find the Thai name for God in the New Testament, therefore the Thai Christians must worship a false god.” Also it was a radio broadcast, not a book.

Someone once responded to a post on my blog on the subject and suggested Arthur Jeffery’s The Foreign Vocabulary of the Quran as a source on the subject, although I haven’t checked the book out myself.

**Yes, Muhammad did not know many things.
  1. He did not know that The god can be tempted by Satan.
  2. He did not know that Jesus was also tempted by the Satan.
  3. He did not know that the God also prays to another God.
  4. He did not know that a God dies also. That a God can die.
  5. He did not know that the God had a father and the another God or same God had a son too. So he who was a son, was also the Father too, at the same time.
  6. The son god was praying to the Father God in the Garden before arrest.
  7. At the real time of distress, the son forgot the Father and yelled out to God as “O My God, O My God… Why have you forsaken me?” At that time the God was not addressed as the Father.
  8. Muhammad believed that Jesus was never tempted by the devil. How bad !
  9. Muhammad believed that the mother of Jesus (Mary) was also never tempted by the devil. How bad !
  10. Muhammad believed that the disciples of Jesus did not forsake him.
  11. Muhamamd believed that the disciples of Jesus gave pledge to stand by him all the time and they did so.
There are many things that perhaps Muhammad did not know and did not believe about jesus and his mother. Good-Bye. Blame Muhammad.**
that has to be the most moronic muslim apologetics i have ever seen

The Blessed Trinity, like the other dogmas of the Catholic Church, is a belief that has been held since the teaching of Christ to the Apostles. The Trinity is not found clearly defined in any passage in Sacred Scripture, nor does the name “trinity” appear within its pages. However, in order to be considered “Christian,” one must believe in the Trinitarian God. In the first centuries the Church sought to clarify what the Trinity was by deepening its own understanding and by defending it against errors. In order to do this, the Church had to develop its own terminology which is reflected the dogmatic statement:

“In God there are 3 Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each of the 3 persons possesses one Divine Substance.”
The term “substance” designates the divine being in its unity (there is only one God); it doesn’t mean that God has a size or shape. The term “person” designates the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (these persons are really distinct from each other).

Attempts to describe this relationship clearly always fall short. St. Patrick is credited with using the shamrock; one stem composed of three leaves. Others have used water; a material which exists as ice, liquid, and steam. No matter how it is described, the Trinity is three persons in one God.

while the moongod theory is rather bogus it is a fact that Islam does have pagan origins. these include, hajj , running between safa and marwa, circling the kaba (the pagans did it naked), revering the black stone, stoning satan, ramadan etc etc. hell! the pagan Arabs even used to call their head god, the lunar deity Hubal, Allah (possibly what started the moon god theory)

Muslims will say that the pagan Arabs learnt all these things from ibrahim when he went to Mecca and built the kaba so its really just monotheistic traditions which Mohammad revived from the darkness of paganism but there is no evidence ibrahim ever went to Mecca. The torah never mentions it. The only account of it happening is in the Koran a book written some 2600 years after Ibrahim was supposed to have lived. There is no evidence that the kaba even existed in the time of Ibrahim (around 2000 bc) and the 1st written record of it is in the 2nd century AD by the roman historian Ptolemy. It took 2000 years before somebody wrote about it verifying its existence? i don’t think so! The Arabs were surrounded by literate cultures, if Mecca was as prominent and as old as Muslims say there should be a lot more evidence but there is no archeological evidence that Mecca even existed at the time of ibrahim. religionresearchinstitute.org/mecca/archeology.htm

This is all a concocted history by Mohammad used to cover up Islam’s pagan origins by saying yes those rituals are pagan but its ok because the pagans originally got them from ibrahim so islam isn’t pagan and monotheistic. Such an argument his highly dubious and unsubstantiated
