I can understand how this was confusing, when I read it again I too was a little puzzled. I meant to say that Edris cannot claim alcohol is one of the factors of rape and death, these guys that raped this girl (mind you this was one of many gang rapes) were not intoxicated, it was broad daylight and they knew what they were doing. In Court they claimed that it was permitted to rape (yes they actually said RAPE) a women in their country.

Guilty people say desperate things to try to get free. I hope these guys were punished.

Be very careful with your charity here. Some Christians do bad things, just as some Muslims do bad things.

Negative actions of Christians certainly do not mean the whole of Christianity is wrong. The same applies for our muslim brethren.

Feel free to continue the discussion with this in mind.

Listen, first of all, I don’t claim that alcohol is one of the factors of rape and death. This is a fact, not just a claim. Everyone knows here in North America 80% of rape cases are related to alcohol. Here are links, no one denies that:

"Death: 1,400 college students between the ages of 18 and 24 die each year from alcohol-related unintentional injuries,
Sexual Abuse: More than 70,000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 are victims of alcohol-related sexual assault or date rape. studentaffairs.cmu.edu/HealthServices/alcohol/

"There has been evidence to show that there is a strong link between alcohol consumption and sexual assault .yourzone.com.au/content/Health_lifestyle/Alcohol/Alcohol_related_rape_drink_spike%20.htm

Now regarding this story, you’ve been talking about. Ok i’m not gonna argue about the authenticity of this story. But it does mean anything. Simply it is rediculus to claim that this is because of Islam. If I want to narrate to you similar stories that take place here in canada crimes commited by christians, it’s endless.

Since you are from Australia. I have to mention this:

“Queensland’s Islamic community says its numbers have more than doubled in recent years, and it now boasts more than 15,000 followers, including those who’ve turned away from other religions such as Christianity.”
abc.net.au/am/content/2005/s1447377.htm

“Against all expectations, Australian Christians, including Catholics and Anglicans, and agnostics are finding Islam an answer to their spiritual voids.”
smh.com.au/articles/2003/11/17/1069027046245.html?from=storyrhs

"The most recent Australian Census in 2001 revealed a remarkable rate of growth in Australia’s Muslim population. The Census listed 281 576 Australian Muslims, an increase of some 40 per cent in five years, while the Australian population as a whole only grew by 5.7 per cent in the same period…Significantly, more than one-third of Australian Muslims are born in Australia.

If the image of Islam in australia is as dramatic as you claim. Then this won’t be happening right?

The leader of the pact got 55 years initially and his brother got 35 (???) or so years then there was a problem with one of the jury members attending the site where the rape happened (loop hole, apparenty clouded their judgment) so their sentences were reduced, the original sentences could have been upheld but the matter had to go before a jury once again and the girl that was raped couldnt face her attacker again in Court and go through the ordeal all over again. 😦

I agree 100% with the Moderator, there is good and bad in every race, religion and country.

Edris, this story is one of approximately 6-7 gang rapes UNFORTUNATELY all gangs were muslim. I truly feel for the muslims over here, especially the women, as they are targets now due to the behaviour of some of their brothers! I am not saying the rapes happened because of islam, these people claim islam allows it. You and I both know that is not true. I never denied the fact that alcohol can contribute to sexual assault and death, but the way I read your post, you claim thats why muslims are not allowed to drink and thats why the crime rate is so low???

Please dont get me wrong, I know of muslims, catholics and other religions who commit horrendous crimes, I work in a law firm so I see it all the time. I am tired of hearing people claim their religion is peaceful, perfect, once again not just muslims. I know of catholics who claim to be devout, yet the minute they step out of church they do all the things that would hurt my dear saviour, but hey WE ARE ALL HUMANS! All I am saying is NOONE can say they are perfect because of their religion, there will always be bad apples in every race, religion and nation. 👍

gurrato alaien:
Jesus was born of a virgin
Hello gurrato alaien,

I am a Christian. I would like to know why Muslims believe Jesus was born of a virgin (did it serve a specific purpose)?
he came from her womb and from dirty place like any man, how can you think that he is God or Son of God!!!
Can you elaborate on this? It seems very disrespectful.

Thanks.

Wake up - Brothers and Sisters Christians - Before it’s too late

Muslims do believe that Jesus (A.S.) was sent down as a Prophet of Allah (God), but he (Jesus) is not God or Lord, nor the Son of God. and this will not put him down as some people think.
God have no son no wife no mother no father no partner, unique eternal invisible Most beneficent, the Most Merciful. Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnibenevolet, it’s the biggest sin while they don’t know.

Christians have committed a great blasphemy by trying to attribute a son to God. Jesus was born of a virgin he came from her womb and from dirty place like any man, how can you think that he is God or Son of God!!!
God may forgives any sins except shirk (associate partner with him like son)
  1. Verily, Allâh forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allâh in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. (Qur’an 4:48)
  2. Verily! Allâh forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners in worship with Him, but He forgives whom he pleases sins other than that, and whoever sets up partners in worship with Allâh, has indeed strayed far away. (Qur’an 4:116)
We believe that God ever chose to come down to earth in a form of a man to die for our sins to purify us and forgive us. According to Islam, Jesus never died on the cross, nor ever wanted to die on the cross, nor ever was born to die on the cross. Muslims believe that Jesus was sentenced to death, and people thought that he got executed on the cross. The Holy Quran rejects this idea, and claims that it is a false one. Jesus never died on the cross, nor he ever died for anyone’s sins. Muslims believe that Jesus (peace be upon him) according to the Holy Quran is a wonderful, generous messenger of God who came down and revealed God’s words to his people, the people of Israel. We believe that he was raised to heaven and is there, and will descend at the appointed time, end all wars, and bring peace to the world. Like Jesus (A.S.), Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is also a Prophet and Messenger. Muhammed (P.B.U.H.) is the last Prophet, though, and there is none after him. Hence, Islam is the last religion, complete, with the Holy Qur’an as the unchanged and perfect word of God for over 1400 years, as God promised to preserve it till the last day for all of humankind, unlike sacred texts of other religions which have multiple versions and are “revised” periodically. God, or Allah in Arabic, is Divine and Supreme Being and Creator.
  • What the Holy Qur’an says about Jesus:
“They slew him not, nor did they crucify him but it was made dubious to them.” (Holy Qur’an, Surah Nisaa, Verse 157)

Now in: 157 above “…Nor did they crucify him …”

Let us look at verse 3:55 “Behold! Allah said: O Jesus! I will take thee And raise thee to Myself And clear thee (of the falsehoods) Of those who blaspheme; I will make those Who follow thee superior To those who reject faith, To the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all return unto me, And I will judge Between you of the matters wherein ye dispute.”

Here we see that Allah Almighty promised Jesus (peace be upon him) to raise him to heaven. Jesus was charged by the Jews with blasphemy as claiming to be God or the son of God. The Christians (except a few early sects which were annihilated by persecution, and the modern sect of Unitarians), adopted the substance of the claim, and made it the cornerstone of their faith. Allah Almighty clears Jesus of such a charge or claim. Those who follow Jesus are the Muslims and the Christians who don’t believe he is God. All of the controversies about dogma and faith will disappear when we appear before Allah. He will judge not by what we profess but what we are.

Let’s look at verse 3:59 “The similitude of Jesus Before Allah is as that of Adam; He (Allah) created him (Jesus) from dust, Then said to him: Be. And he was.”

After a description of the high position which Jesus occupies as a prophet, we have a reputation of the dogma that he was Allah, or the son of Allah, or anything more than a man. If it is said that he was born without a human father, Adam was also so born. Indeed Adam was born without either a human father or mother. As far as our physical bodies are concerned, they are mere dust. In Allah’s sight Jesus was a dust just as Adam was or humanity is. The greatness of Jesus arose from the Divine command “Be”, for after that he was. He also was a great spiritual leader.

=gurrato alaien;1030637] We believe that he (Jesus) was raised to heaven
Hi

I am an Ahmadi a peaceful Muslim.
I respect your faith.

I think your belief, “We believe that he (Jesus) was raised to heaven” is not supported by Quran/Islam/Muhammad.

If you mean by your word "raised " (4:158) that Jesus is alive or resurrected from the dead; that is not there. The word sky or heaven is also not mentioned in the verses 4:158

Kindly make necessary corrections accordingly. No compulsion

Thanks

Paar,
The lack of Charity and kindness in some of this tread is one example of why Westerners have trouble accepting Islam as a religion of peace. I know that it works the other way as well. Both sides have much to learn.

Two questions for everyone on this thread.
First, why would Jesus teach peace and forgiveness, praying for your enemies and those who hate you and turn the other cheek while Islam teaches destroy those who fight you?
Second, does Islam have any understanding at all of free will? It seems like the answer is no. You should remove all temptaion so you will not hav ethe chance to sin.

Cont…

Jesus was born of a virgin
The Truth shall set you free. For God so loved the world, that He became man and took the flesh, and was born of the Virgin Mary, a woman untouched by Sin, the Immaculate Conception. A vessel so pure could only hold Him, who by His mercy and love, came down and lived among us.

Our God is a God of mercy and love, a father, who we will meet and be with on the last day. Allah, in kind, is a Master and Muslims his slaves, who on their last day will not see him, nor be with him, but will relegate themselves to carnal pleasures and paltry delights of the flesh.

Our Book, the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God. The Koran is the inspiration of Muhammad, a violent warlord who claims inspiration from Allah, being in turn contacted by the angel Gabriel who started his journey. But I say to you, be careful! All is not what it appears. Is not the evil one capable of deceit and apparent beauty? Couldn’t Muhammad have been tricked by the devil, taking on the guise of Gabriel? Why else would violence and subjugation play an important role in your religion? The Son of God tells us to ‘love one another’ and love your enemy. How can two messages by two ‘prophets’ be so contradictory? While one, Our Lord, performed miracles that raised the dead, restored sight to the blind, and made the deaf hear, another preached war and did as he pleased, killing his enemies by the sword and taking things to please his fancy?

I might be censored, but I speak the truth. We cannot hope to allow others to slander our faith, while we, in the name of ‘tolerance’ and multi-culturalism let other do what they wish with ours?

I have seen nothing but intolerance in the Muslim world. There is only peace to those who are Muslim, and war to those who are not.

Just my opinion.

Our muslim friends seem to think that they are being concilliatory by “acknowleging” that Jesus was a “prophet” but He wasn’t the Son of God , hence God. Listen up…Jesus was either the Son of God or He was a liar and a lunatic. He was the Son of God…we Christians believe that as a matter of our faith. Don’t try that condescending stuff to make islam seem more compatible with Christianity…they are a universe apart IMO.

First off I would like to voice my thoughts, I know that what is on the first post is a bunch of BS. The Islamic people are very war like, and with everything that Mohammad did during his rain of tyranny, today would make him a terrorist.

What does Jihad mean? Jihad literally translates as “struggle.” Strictly speaking, jihad does not mean “holy war” as Muslim apologists often point out.

If you really want to find out the true history about Islam’s violent teachings, bloody history, backward culture, and morally depraved founder, and Why the Crusades were justified wars of Christian self-defense against centuries of Muslim aggression.

I highly recommend that you look into this book by Robert Spencer titled: The Politically Incorrect Guide™ to Islam (and the Crusades).

And if the Islamic Faith is so peaceful why would the author of revivingislam.com pray “May Allah rip out his spine from his back and split his brains in two, and then put them both back, and then do it over and over again.Amen.” for Robert Spencer for writing the true history of Islam. I think that it is time, as Christians and Catholics that we open our eyes and see the truth for what it really is.

I for one am getting tired of the muslims victimizing themselves when it come to the Crusades (and everyone looking at the Crusaders as inhuman), when in reality they (the muslims) were the ones who provoked it.

*“Not to oppose error is to approve it;
and not to defend truth is to suppress it.
and, indeed, to neglect to confound evil men
–when we can do it–
is no less a sin than to encourage them.”

Re: The Virgin Mary and the Trinity?

Quote:
Perhaps the text is miss-interpreted as virgin instead of young girl, but to look at it in context, a young Jewish girl that was living her faith would be a virgin anyway.
Hi

I agree with the above post.

Virginity of Mary for the first conception culminating into normal delivery of Jesus was meant in the Prophecy, I think. It would be only usual exaggeration of the scribes to insist on the permanance of virginity of Mary, this only shows that they are overzealus at times only in search of extraordinary miracles, nothing more.

Quran/Islam/Muhammad has pointed out in its Chapter # 19 titled Maryam that birth of John the Baptist (Quran names him Yahya) was as miraculous as that of Jesus (Quran names him Issa ), they both were cousins.

I would just quote two connected passages of verses in this connection, those who might be interested in more investigation should read the whole chapter for full appreciation of the issue.

Quran
[19:1] In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[19:2] Kaf Ha Ya 'Ain Sad.
[19:3] This is an account of the mercy of thy Lord shown to His servant Zachariah,
[19:4] When he called upon his Lord in a low voice.
[19:5] He said, **'My Lord, my bones have indeed become feeble and my head is all aflame with hoariness **but never, my Lord, have I been unblessed in my prayer to Thee;
[19:6] 'And I fear my relations after me, and my wife is barren. So grant me from Thyself a successor,
[19:7] ‘To be my heir and the heir of the blessings of the House of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, well-pleasing to Thee.’
[19:8] **God said, ‘O Zachariah, We give thee glad tidings of a son whose name shall be Yahya. **We have not called any one before him by that name.’
[19:9] **He said, 'My Lord, how shall I have a son when my wife is barren, and I have reached the extreme limit of old age?
[19:10] The angel bearing the revelation said, ‘So shall it be.’ But thy Lord says, ‘It is easy for ME, and indeed I created thee before, when thou wast nothing.’ **
Quran
[19:17] And relate the story of Mary as mentioned in the Book, when she withdrew from her people to an eastern place;
[19:18] And screened herself off from them. **Then We sent Our angel to her and he appeared to her **in the form of a well proportioned man.
[19:19] She said, ‘I seek refuge with the Gracious God from thee if indeed thou dost fear Him.’
[19:20] The angel said, ‘I am only a messenger of thy Lord, that I may give thee glad tidings of a righteous son .[19:21] She said, ‘How can I have a son when no man has touched me, neither have I been unchaste?’ [19:22] The angel said, ‘Thus it shall be.’ But says thy Lord, 'It is easy for ME; and We shall do so that We may make him a Sign unto men, and a mercy from US, and it is a thing decreed.’
[19:23] So she conceived him, and withdrew with him to a remote place.

Unquote
So, in Quran/Islam virginity or permanance of virginity of Maryam was not the issue, it was the tiding of sons to parants beforehand who were to become ProphetsMessengers.

Thanks

Just a quick side question for cute2904, since she’s making fun of what i’m saying apparently without thinking. My question is You’re not originaly from Indonesia (muslim country), What brought you to a muslim country of you are really persecuted there?. so please keep your comments to yourself, and don’t pollute this thread.

Peace
Dear Edris,

I am from Indonesia, and I know very well why some of the Indonesian go to Saudi Arabia. 100% of them are looking for jobs. Some of them got the illusion that living in Saudi Arabis is easy, but some really come to Saudi with courage. My question is, what about the unrecorded crime occured in Saudi? What about the Indonesian Hajj who were robbed there? When they reported their case, the Saudi policemen submit a statement that they will lose the Hajj status if they can not prove the crime? No wonder the crime rate was low. The burden of proof is on the victim. What an excellent system. If I rob you with a concealed face, and you cannot recognize me, then I will be free because the burden of proof in on you. Don’t say I don’t know that, because one of the victim was my relative. Alcohol rate was low statistically, but do you know the illegal consumption rate? Can you guarantee that?
