Israel puts Jewish extremists under house arrest for pope visit

I wanted to respond to your post hours ago but was staying away because I wanted to confirm something I already had noticed all too often. The majority of Catholics are strickly Rome oriented and remain detached from the Holy Land. And it seems even when the Holy Father is about to risk his life by going there.

Ever since the Vatican announced the visit Jewish harassment of Catholic institutions has been on the rise. But when it was reported they were blaming young Jewish thugs from Jewish settlements inside the West Bank. Of course those are illegal settlements within Palestinian territory.

The Israelis have a difficult job in front of them protecting the Pope in light of the fact he has refused to ride in a bullet proof vehicle and intends to walk with the people too.

I am praying for his safety and that He accomplishes his mission.
 
wow pope francis is brave going anywhere without the pope mobile, I think it shows his faith that he is willing to risk his life to walk with the common people, but I will admit I am a catholic that is ignorant of the situation of catholics in the middle east I had no idea that Jewish extremists had any problem with catholics, muslims yes I know they don’t like catholics or any christians but Jews? Never crossed my mind I learn something interesting every time I get on CAF
 
While it is good to see Israel standing up against Orthodox Jews rabble rousers. I find it just as disturbing to using house arrest on the ‘ultra’ Orthodox Jews as I find it disturbing the way the treat their Palestinian citizens and neighbors. I pray that our Pope may be able to navigate these troubled waters and be able to do something positive to help all sides in that troubled area.
