I’ve always had an affinity for Isaac Jogues. What always impressed me was that after being grievously tortured he escaped from the Indians and returned to Europe where he begged his superiors to let him return to the Indians. . If I recall correctly he even had to get special permission from the Pope to hold the hose between his , middle and index figure because the Indians had cut off his thumb and ring finger.

Gosh the pre-Vatican II Church had rubrics for everything, including telling the Vatican fire brigade how to hold the hose!

Sorry couldn’t resist, sorry for poking fun at your errant fingers. Been that done that in far more embarrassing ways!
