And infanticide is the next unavoidable step, because ignorance breeds ignorance.
If one human being is denied, all are denied, and no one has intrinsic value.
As the rest of the world with clean running water agrees, a baby obtains personhood at birth.

Your faulty “unavoidable conclusion” is quite avoidable, as evidenced by the real world we live in.

The right to absolute bodily autonomy is a farce. It is a figment of the imagination.
It’s the justification of an empty argument.

In no other arena of life is a right to bodily autonomy admitted.

Do us a favor, walk out of your house without your clothes on, and yell about your bodily autonomy.
(would be a nice metaphoric demonstration of the transparent illogic of your position.)

As the Nazi’s agreed, a human being might be a person, or might not be a person. Or in the world of 19th century racists, a human being might only be 3/5ths of a human being.

You are in such esteemed company!

You should rethink your position. You should think about who you are in bed with.

(and you know what? if you can just eliminate enough people, clean water can be a reality for everyone!!)

Hey, if you refuse to respect the bodily autonomy of women, I can’t help you.

Thank goodness I’ve got the votes to beat you, including half of American Catholics.

I respect women.
You subject women to barbarism.

let it sink in.

All it means is that most of the posters on this forum can only focus on one political issue. Abortion.
As I stated at the top of this thread, there are many other issues out there.
I do not think everything else has to be excluded just for the sake of one issue.
We can walk and chew gun at the same time.
And I do not subscribe to your theory that violence of all kinds happens this country having anything to do with abortion.
We have violence, because people have easy access to weaponry, especially guns.

Think we ought to invoke a rule Dr H invoked his is philo classes back at university-

“If you need Hitler, Stalin or Mao to help make your point then it stinks and your point is rejected by default.”

How about: "if your philosophy looks, walks, and smells like Adolph Hitler, maybe you are on the wrong side. "

(I’m sorry you find the comparison unpleasant, but that is exactly where you are)

To be frank, it was inevitable.

In a request to discuss “anything but X”, X is the only thing you actually defined in the request.

It’s like telling people to not think of their boss in their underwear. They naturally do it because the question requires them to on order to frame it

The right to life is cast into suspicion. To remain silent and pretend it is secondary is not an option.

I’d be glad to talk about clean water and adoption, but we have people here who don’t even give human life prime value. So who are human rights for?
Cats?

I love kittens, but by gosh if my neighbor wants to bash em over the head with a baseball bat for scratching his upholstery, he has the right.

but yea, kittens are great.

Next, I will just ask open a thread on health care, homelessness, hunger, and other issues of our time.
But two to one, some one will inject abortion and it will be off to the races again.
I truly believe that this country is obsessed with two things, abortion and guns. It is interesting to note those both take lives.

Who started the topic?
Who is championing the killing of human beings?

And we should all be silent?
Are your expectations realistic?

This thread has turned into a mirror image of the evolution thread. The same people, making the same arguments…over and over again. I’ve called Bingo on at least 15 cards already! In a secular government, this freedom simply won’t and can’t be taken away. Again, the best action is prevention, which is where all of your energies should be going.

It appears some people just want to win the argument or get their way, instead of being result-driven.

I did not say anything about abortion being secondary.
I said there are other issues that plague our country.
There are many people who do not have a place to sleep. Others do not get enough to eat. Many work long hours for little pay. Others struggle through addiction.
I would like to see these issues addressed. They are important.

Both hot topic political issues and the Repubs take opposite side stances on both of them.
