Playing hardball doesn’t get you anywhere. Deciding to kill all the 7 year olds would cause more harm than abortion, estesbob. CWBetts - I’ve answered you. Get over it.
So you are a single issue voter-it just depends on the issue. Why is killing the unborn more palatable than killing 7 year olds?Playing hardball doesn’t get you anywhere. Deciding to kill all the 7 year olds would cause more harm than abortion, estesbob. CWBetts - I’ve answered you. Get over it.
\estesbob, you’re making a ridiculous argument, and putting up a few straw man arguments along the way.
what’s really difficult is persuading people when you totally distort their position all the time
You have not answered me. How would killing children who have been born do more harm? There is no difference between the born and the unborn.Playing hardball doesn’t get you anywhere. May I please ask a question? Is it the Church that says abortion causes far more carnage that killing all 7 year olds, or is that your opinion/interpretation? I just like to know please, if that is a Catholic teaching or yours. Why do you make an exception for abortion which causs far more carnage than killing all 7 year olds would?
The Church calls all murder grave sin.does the Church find abortion more sinful that killing all 7 year olds?
It finds them both to be a serious sin-a sin we can not dirrectly or remotley support either with our actions or our votes.May I please ask a question? I know that some people on this forum have said that abortion was far worse a sin that rape, but I really need to have this clearly understood: does the Church find abortion more sinful that killing all 7 year olds?
Ok, thank you for answering. It finds them both to be a serious sin-a sin we can not dirrectly or remotley support either with our actions or our votes.
In US Elections there is almost always a clear distinction between the cnaidates stand on abortion. i am aware that in Britaon that os not usually the case and am also awae that UK law is not nearly as permissable on abortion as US law is.estesbob, let’s clarify what your point is - you are by means of your extreme example making the point that if the single issue was extreme enough any reasonable person would vote on that single issue. I don’t disagree. So you’re asking why the issue of abortion doesn’t cross my personal threshold for a single issue vote. I find that the positions of candidates in UK elections aren’t collectively extreme enough for the issue of abortion to be decisive, and the practical reason for that is voting for a pro-life candidate will not achieve the delegalisation of abortion.
No. This makes the incorrect assumption that the only people who would agree with that assumption are Catholic. Not true.I suspect, as i have mentioned before, that it is hard to have this dicussion with one who does not share a Catholic perspective. From a Catholic perspective there is no difference between killing the unborn and killing 7 year olds.
My point is all Catholics should, not all non-Catholics do.No. This makes the incorrect assumption that the only people who would agree with that assumption are Catholic. Not true.
Are you that obtuse? I mean, really. As a Catholic, we must accept the teachings of the Church. ALL OF THEM. We cannot pick and choose. That being the case, we must also accept the basic fact that we are to do what we can to preserve human life from conception to natural death. It really is not that hard of a concept.…and when did abortion come before preaching the gospel???
Is “Pro-Life” the actual religion of some Catholics?![]()
All Chrisian religions are based on the Gospel of “life” None of he promises made by Jesus can be enjoyed by those who are denied life.…and when did abortion come before preaching the gospel???

Yes, I see both of you have managed to miss the point - no great surprise thereAll Chrisian religions are based on the Gospel of “life” None of he promises made by Jesus can be enjoyed by those who are denied life.
I didn’t realize you actually had a point…except for espousing cafeteria Catholicism, that isYes, I see both of you have managed to miss the point - no great surprise there![]()
I think you are confusing “pro-lfe” as a political issue and “pro-life” as a spiritual issue.Yes, I see both of you have managed to miss the point - no great surprise there![]()
