It is NOT immoral to vote for Democrats

The most effective way to stop unwanted pregnancy is first free contraception and real sex education.
All I was pointing out is that teaching sex education without promoting birth control increases unwanted pregnancy. Not teaching sex education increases unwanted pregnancy. Teaching sex education AND promoting BOTH abstinence first and contraception second is by far the most effective approach. Studies have shown this over and over again.

Regarding contraception. No amount of sex education will stop the current STD epidemic in the United States.
With the advent of Truvada, which purports to stop the transmission of HIV, I think things will get worse on the STD front.

Truvada encourages indiscriminate sexual behavior, and new bugs are going to arise as sure as I’m sitting here.

Sex Education, today, can violate the rights of parents. It’s being taught to kids who do not have the mental or emotional maturity to understand it. Kids go through phases as they mature, always have. But trying to replace what the parents would understand as not age appropriate is wrong. Parents, as parents, do not need others teaching their kids what they know is wrong. They are entitled to opt-out their kids.

Yet, we do nothing to tighten laws concerning common sense gun laws. The holier than thou “I’ve got my Gun Rights” Wild West crowd has taken precedent over other rights to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” because those in the line of that gun fire are dead.
Here’s my question. We used to have FAR MORE GUNS in America (percentage wise) than we do today. Why we’re people doing these things in the past? (though they did like to burn down Catholic Churches in the 1800s)?

I’m not personally against LOCAL gun control, but I do have an issue with federal level gun control.

Reason: the needs of rural America - where some people live 20+ miles from their local police station is far different from the urban & suburban areas.

Also, I personally believe that part of the 2nd Amendment was to allow the STATES (not individuals) to raise a militia to fight against a Federal govt gone rogue.

So while I personally do not like AR-15s, etc. If you outlaw them, then if the federal govt is ever overthrown by a totalitarian regime, it becomes harder for the States to raise a militia to declare war on the federal govt.

In my view, that is the ultimate purpose of the 2nd Amendment.

exactly 🙂

He resonated with enough people in each state to win the election. That’s all that matters. That’s a lot.

It is amazing that anyone thinks sex education has been a success. Just the opposite has happened. Instead of true, life giving relationships, two dogs meeting in an alley for an encounter is what’s being promoted on TV and movies.

None of them are atheists.

Bill Gates is a Catholic Christian.

Warren Buffet was raised Presbyterian Christian and is now agnostic.

Mark Zuckerberg was raised Jewish but now identifies as a Buddhist and has shown Christian sympathies.

Just thought I should point that out 🙂

Oh and while we’re talking about super rich people, the richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos, is a Christian.
Bill Gates - does go to a Catholic Church with his wife but has said he is an atheist many times and has publicly stated most religious beliefs are based on myth, and that science takes precedence. When pressed, he says he is an atheist, but thinks it makes sense for others to believe in God.

Buffet - yes, an agnostic

Zuckerberg - raised Jewish, lived most of his adult life as an atheist, now believes religion is important, but primarily spiritually not dogmatically.

Regardless, gates and Zuck are heavy duty democrats. I don;t know about Buffet. This was in response to a post that Republicans are the most generous.

Sorry, vz71, but “Godwin’s Law” is negated if the target of the comparison really is behaving like Hitler, for all intents and purposes.

If anything, Godwin’s Law has become a tool used to shut down debates by painting the other speaker as a hysterical fool, regardless if the Third Reich analogies are actually appropriate. So, I’m afraid you lose by taking out that card in the first place.

It’s such a slap in the face to holocaust victims to even try to draw a comparison between our president and Hitler. I think it’s on a par with halocaust denial, at best it’s holocaust minimilization and it’s a hysterical conspiracy theory to boot. It makes “birthers” look tame by comparison.

Once you begin to look for them, one sees Pelicans in parishes and in Catholic illustrations often.

We stand by Israel because it is the only stable country in the region, not because it is the Jewish state.
If it weren’t for their cumpulsatory army and ultra modern weapons, they’d hardly be stable. They are surrounded by countries that harbor ill towards them, we both are aware of that. Regardless, I couldn’t have thought of a better analogy than their plight in the 40’s and the refugee’s of today.

Come to think of it, many of that Temple massacre did as well. They were highly involved in re-locating immigrants through an organization called HAIS. We ought to look to them as an example.

It’s sad and sick but you’re exactly right.

“Hook up culture” is a horrific degradation of human dignity.

Its not gaslighting, he is nothing like Hitler and he doesn’t hate Mexican people. Even what he said during the campaign in 2016 about them not sending their best illegally was just seized on and twisted, into this whole “he thinks all Mexicans and immigrants are rapists and drug dealers”. No, trying to tackle the problem of illegal immigration, and not allowing a mob of thousands of unvetted people to walk right in, is not hitler-like.

If a few people have been highlighted in the media saying that, it doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty more that disagree and find it outrageous.
