Hi, tonyrey,

Actually, I had the U.S.ofA. public school system and colleges in mind. I would like to think that our Parish schools and Catholic universities and colleges do have faith and reason in good partnership.

I am sad that the great English education system no longer gives faith the credit it deserves in education. Nor in other parts of life. That’s not sarcasm.

God loves you,
Don
Lack of faith and values have undermined the fabric of society as well as education. There are over a million one-parent families. You can imagine the effects on the children…

Yes, sir, our entire society is also torn, for the lack of faith and godly values.

I don’t have to imagine, there are one parent families all around me in this neighborhood. It’s so sad.

“By their fruits you shall know them”. The secular society with its rejection of religious “superstition” is revealing its inner emptiness. The quest for pleasure at all costs results in misery for everyone. It is impossible for anyone to be happy when surrounded by so much unnecessary suffering.

The main cause is not malice but ignorance of what really matters - unselfish love. But how can “naked apes” be capable of that? Darwin’s “Descent of Man” has led to consequences he did not foresee: the Moral Descent of Man…

Ouch, tonyrey,

You have pushed my button with your remark on Darwin. In my layman’s opinion, Charles Darwin has been made a cult figure by his followers in our century in both Darwinism and Neo-Darwinism. I consider both those philosophies as having become religious cults around the dead figure of Charles Darwin.

Back to you first paragraph. I find joy and consolation in the facts that both Jesus Christ and his mother Blessed Virgin Mary are safe in Heaven, safe from being slimed by the defilers on this planet.

God loves you,
Don

The truth is not always pleasant, Don.
Your point is linked with what I’ve just written on another thread: “Is religion a scam”.

They both suffered unnecessarily in this world as a result of the struggle of good against evil. On this very forum they have been verbally abused - which bears out my point about irrational hatred…

Hi, tonyrey,

Yes, the truth has its unpleasant aspect, as well as God’s truth.

I can’t promise to come to your thread tonight, maybe sometime later this weekend.

God loves you,
Don

Well, I’m a little disappointed. I perked up when you mentioned Heinlein, but then you went into folk philosophy and didn’t get juicy at all. I first off thought that you might get into Eve, or Adam and Eve relative to the Race. Or Satan and Mark Twain’s biting remark about prayers for him. Or original sin itself. I mean if you are going to put out a statement like that, why not deal with the big stuff? RAH got pretty down and dirty about it all. I expected more after that first line, but really, you could have left him out if this is as far as it got.
