Pain is to bring us “in union with the passion of Christ” and it “becomes a participation in the saving work of Jesus.” (CCC 1521). Pain, if not wasted, can be a beautiful prayer.
Those who promote euthanasia as a means to end pain deny the gift from God to bring one’s eternal soul closer to our Blessed Lord. A man has less need for God when he is comfortable and healthy. But, when he is suffering, his soul cries out “Jesus, mercy!”
What are your thoughts on pain? Are there certain things you do or prayers you do when you are in pain?
