Ok, besides the point of how big of an excommunication he just incurred, we are speaking of something that happened in a village of 355 people. How did this make the national news? Hmm…:hmmm: knowing how the press works in my country, I have lots of reasons to think this was not a bona fide act…

This Priest disgusts me. Why does everybody feel the need to criticize the Pope for resigning. Since none of us have been Pope’s we should learn a little humility and not arrogantly voice an opinion on whether he should have done that or not.

Oh my word! It is embarrassing to see such lack of obedience!!

Shocking. whos to say that the Holy Spirit did not lead Benedict to retire???

Che cretino:mad:
Dobbiamo avere pieta’ invece.
Orengo said he would inform Church authorities about the incident, adding that Maggi was going through a “fragile” time from a psychological point of view.
Non si puo’ scusarelo cosi’ facilmente ma non dovremmo tirare insulti finche non sappiamo il situazione completamente.

Ma ha detto cosa ha detto, se i fonti sono giusti. 😉

He said what he said, if the sources are correct.

I will pray for him, but if he indeed said this, it was a really dumb remark.

What he said may have been “cretinous” but that does not make this priest a “cretin”

In other words, a silly and miguided act, does not make this man an idiot.

We don’t know that and I am sure the Benedict will forgive him as quickly as JPII forfave others.

If I were to speculate, I would say he feels abandoned and distraught, and that, I believe weighs heavy on our beloved Benedict.

So we should pray for him and our once Pope and pray for the Church.

There are greater trangressions than this, surely. Let 's not stoke media fires.

If this this man’s crisis of faith, let s remind him that even though Psalm 22 begins in despair, it ends in triumph and renewed faith.

As our Lord reminded us on the Cross.

Peace.

btw liked the font gag.😉

I do not feel any of us have the right to judge another persons choice in life. The Pope had said he had a new calling to pray…this decision is between God and the Pope…Is it wise to question someones calling? We should all pray to God and learn what our own calling is and act upon the Lords request instead of critisizing another persons. Pray to the Lord our God!![BIBLEDRB]

I accept your corrections. 🙂 I did not mean to give the impression that I was throwing this man under the bus, but I obviously must have. My apologies for being a bit of a cretino myself.:o

i definitely do not agree with what this Italian priest did in front of his congregation at the start of his homily. i am glad that part of the congregation walked out to show their disapproval.

it was a very disrespectful act on the part of the priest against the Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and the Catholic Church in general.

does anyone know how old this priest is or anything about him at all?

i wonder what his Bishop has said about this.

Well now, I completely disagree with this…but…it sure took guts. Imagine what good he could do if he re-directed those guts to something productive within the Church.

And let me also extend such warmth.

Come here and hug me.:hug3:

I disagree that such egotistical hissy fits are considered signs of courage these days. :banghead: Tell that to a soldier on the front lines, tell it to a single woman trying to raise children in poverty, a man who tromps the streets everyday looking for a job. Those things take guts.

Doing something good with one’s energies, now that, yeah, I could get on board with. Perhaps this priest needs to go work in a soup kitchen. I can’t judge his soul or his mind but I do hope his Bishop is informed about this. Maybe he can counsel him in some virtues that are counter to the behavior displayed.

I think standing up for what you believe in when you know you’re not going to get the pat on the back you want is indeed a form of courage. Imagine what good he could do if, say, he used that courage to talk about the Catholic things that many of those parishioners don’t want to hear.
