I disagree that such egotistical hissy fits are considered signs of courage these days. .
Oh For His Sake no!

Oh no! and three times NO!

There is a priest in distress.

I would not and could not support the action!

But it seems that who has given his life to the church has lost faith and in the circumstances that is more than predictable.

We must CATER.

The poor man is shatterred, if my guesses are correct.

Did Peter abandon Thomas?

Nor we should him.

And i am first to defend our beloved benedict who was courageuos enought to recognise his timely frailness.

As God wished.

Peace

Shocking. whos to say that the Holy Spirit did not lead Benedict to retire???
Why is this priest acting like such a child.

If you believe in the Pope then you MUST believe he was guided by the Holy Spirit.
The spirit will also be guiding the Cardinals, and the new Pope.

This may have something to do with it:
Orengo said he would inform Church authorities about the incident, adding that Maggi was going through a “fragile” time from a psychological point of view.
I’m sure many of us are disappointed that the Pope resigned, but, for all we know, the nature of his health problems could render him unfit to rule within a few years. I’d rather he step down now, while he has his faculties about him, than serve out the rest of his life, and allow all sorts of mischief to take place while he’s unable to stop it.

Hopefully this priest will get the psycological help he needs, and apologize once he’s gotten a handle on himself again.

I wonder what his Bishop is going to say to him!
You can be fairly confident that his Bishop will have quite a long chat with him. He will try to get to his reasoning and his state of mind, I am sure, and then hopefully act accordingly. Possibly he needs some professional help or maybe just some time off in sabbatical. Say a prayer for him as whatever the problem is, he needs God’s help.

Obviously he did the wrong thing. Obviously it is much deeper seated than what it looks on the surface. Stress can show up in many strange ways / acts.

Pray that he will receive all gods guidance.

The Priest needs a padded cell. His parishioners deserve better than a rude, insane person running the Church. Talk about disrespect of the former Pope.

Negative and rude comments toward CAF members, clergy (deacons, priests and bishops) or toward religious and religious orders are banned.

Everyone, online and offline, deserves to be spoken to and about respectfully. However, some posters seem to feel that clergy and religious are fair game.

If you have an issue with them, take it up in private, not on this forum or any of our forums.

You may cite something from another source, if you are not using it to further an agenda. Agenda posting is not allowed.

If we deem that you are disrespectful to our clergy and religious, you will receive an infraction or even a ban.

Proof what you write before you post.

You may not make disparaging remarks about:
  • Vatican II
  • Clergy (deacons, priests and bishops) of any group
  • Religious (brothers, sisters, and nuns) of any order or congregation
  • Lawful actions and disciiplines by the Church including the historical excommunication of the SSPX. It happened. Rome explained why it happened. End of story. Rome did not put it out there for debate by the faithful.
  • Another poster or his/her ideas. You can disagree. You cannot attack, insult, ridicule or dismiss as unimportant. His opinion is as important to him as your opinion is to you.
  • Parishes, pastors, civil leaders.
  • Other religions – if you’re unsure how to speak in public about other faiths, look at the Pope Benedict XVI. He is fraternal, polite, and intellectual in discussing religious differences.
Avoid arguments that will lead to violations of charity. You don’t have to like what you read and others do not have to like what you post. But you must be civil toward each other and those who are not on the forum.

I am saddened by this priests actions. Surely this act is against all he stands for? As a revert I find his actions unacceptable.
:signofcross:
Agreed but nobody knows what was going on in his life or mind at the time.

Lets hope that God will help him through this difficult period in his life.

Yes I agree and hope he’s going to be ok and God will I’m sure help him.

The less said about this immature and senseless controversy, the sooner this incident will be forgotten.,

I don’t think we know the real reasons for the Pope’s retirement. We have found out that he is sicker than we thought, for starters.

We are led to believe that there is a scandalous report from three cardinals locked in a closet for the disposition of the new pontiff.

I think we need more than a caretaker pope, for a few years. The new pope really needs to clean house at the Vatican,or the vitality of the Church is going to take a steep nosedive. I don’t think any pope will be following the liberal agenda.

Years ago, I lost my mental health and did a little cursing myself. I deeply regretted it later, confessed it, and now I hope you will pray for this priest’s mental and spiritual health.

The first word that comes to mind with this act is Arrogance. I hope this priest repents of this grave scandal.
