Christian life aims at rediscovering the beauty which the creator had endowed upon us which was lost due to sin. However when we go after beauty as is understood by the world we will be only falling prey to the evil designs of Satan. Let God shower his wisdom on our priests that they understand and appreciate the Gods plan of beauty which is none other than being united to the life of his only begotten son Jesus Christ for which Mary the ever virgin mother of God stands as an example. How many of the so called christian truly understands the beauty of the redemption through the cross ? The beauty contest can also be treated as sin and abetting the same, because sin is according to one definition " missing the target " and when the wordly standards are adopted we are falling prey to sin.

“I have had some e-mails from Christians who perhaps have not grasped the evangelizing spirit of the initiative, or the potential of the internet, which is a marvelous tool for spreading the Christian message,” Father Rungi admits.

beauty contest a “marvellous tool for spreadind the xian message” ???
then why exclude the bathing suits? surely they have more potential as “tools”…

i don’t know if this rev father understands how his idea would change the perception of many people in a country like india.
nuns, would be looked at as objects of desire instead of models(sorry, bad pun) of virtue and dedication.

i hope this contest is stopped from taking place.
crazy idea, really:mad:

I think it’s a good thing that this so called beauty contest will not continue, but you know, it did remind me that some of the most beautiful people I know are sisters, and I’m not limiting myself to the beauty that is only skin deep and fades as all things do. If there are any sisters reading this thread, I want to thank you for the witness of your vocation and the service you have provided to the people of God. This is the beauty that our Lord sees and recognizes, and though we may not often express it, many of your fellow Christians see it as well. Thank you and God bless!

I think this just shows a misunderstanding of organizational know how. I applaud the Father on wanting to show a different side of the Religious Life for Women, however there are other, more effective, and less trivializing ways to do this. Mainly, while younger nuns should be taught the disciplines that are a part of the order, younger nuns and even novices should be the ones at the forefront of “recruitment” and “public relations” if you will. It’s no different than recruiting people for the military or a certain college. Do you send a 5-star general who knows more about battlefield placement than what’s it like to be a teenager, figuring out what they want to do with their life? Or would you send younger officers and even privates who can remember what it was like to be those kids shoes and can relate to their pressures and talk about the job? That’s how you let the public know what the religious life or whatever your organization is really like, instead of letting people’s prior experiences and memories to portray the image you don’t want.
