Ankara, 13 May (AKI) - The Turkish gunman, who tried to kill the late Pope John Paul II in 1981, has told an Italian newspaper he wants to convert to Catholicism. In an interview with the Italian daily, La Repubblica, Mehmet Ali Agca said he wants to be baptised in St. Peter’s square, where he shot and wounded the Polish pope.

I hope and pray this man is sincere.I totally support him being baptised a catholic if that is truly what is in his heart.I am concerned that he may not be sincere but i so hope he is.I do not think he should be given special treatment as to where he gets baptised(prison will do adequately)such as where he shot the Pope.It was for Pope John Paul II to frogive him and God himself not us to judge.So i judge not im just cautious of his sincerity that if he is not he could use the "baptism " as a terrorism example.I will pray for him
 
Another reason to get rid of the d eath penalty. They’re are other cases like this. St. Maria of Gretta’s m urderer is one example.

God bless him though and JPII. I hope he can keep his faith as I’ve seen some converts lose theirs.
