In such cases, one local priest advised us to park and stand as near the Tabernacle as we could could and then offer prayer. After all, he said, “He is right there on the other side of that wall.”

In your case, I would make contact with the parish office and make yourself known - either by signing up for adoration or by some other means.
 
Banks have alarm systems, redundant alarms, cameras, and fairly thick vault doors.

And all they are protecting is money.

I understand why it has to be locked
But that’s just it
It has to be locked so someone doesn’t desecrate or steal it
and it’s pitiful that we even have to think about keeping it secure…
 
Well, that’s been the case since the very beginning - see Matthew 27:64. The concern for securing the tabernacle is hardly new.

It’s a shame that we have the limitations we do, but it makes our opportunities that much more precious. Per my earlier comment, I have a greater respect and appreciation for the Eucharist as a result of the experience (granted, after my emotions resolved).
