Well, but I do think He should keep his promises to us. He is loyal to his word. And He did promise to return, but He hasn’t.

Now, I’m not sure why. But it is at the very least curious that He could be delayed for almost 2,000 years.
thank you for your courage…it’s been a looooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnng time.

i will accept Jesus coming to me and putting my finger in his side.

in fact i’ll even skip the finger thing. just the appearance would do.

i’d probably have a heart attack,but it’d be worth it…
Jesus told Thomas, “You believe because you see me, Thomas. Blessed are those who do not see but believe.” That’s called faith. Oh, ye of little faith.

So you think that was the second coming?

If so, what makes us think there will be a third? Does it talk about a third coming in the Bible anywhere?
At the moment of death, the first thing each person sees is Jesus. He returns personally to each, individually, to give you that last chance for salvation. He told St. Gertrude, “When I behold any soul in agony, who has thought of me with pleasure, or who has performed any works deserving of reward, I appear to that soul at the moment of death, with a countenance so full of love and mercy, that the soul repents from its inmost depths for having offended Me, and that soul is saved by this repentance.” How many comings do we have a right to expect? Whenever I don’t get an immediate response to a prayer, especially when I feel that I desperately need a respnse, I rein in my emotions and realize that first of all, God loves me. I know that for a fact. Secondly, God wants the best for me. I know that for a fact, too. So I take a deep breath and say, “Jesus, I trust in you.” That, in all reality, is all that’s needed. Stop looking for a visual appearance of Jesus. That will come in God’s time. Keep Jesus as your constant companion, talking to Him as though He is constantly at your side, which He is, and you will soon know that in reality Jesus never left us, so looking for His next appearance is somewhat silly.

Why has God left us alone for so long now.

isn’t 2000yrs long enough.

we need him to reveal himself or communicate with mankind again or something.

2000 years???
You know, 2000 years to us could be one second to God… you never know

we deserve a mass miracle or private revelations for all believers all at once.
We deserve NOTHING, my friend, except death for our sins. Anything apart from that is a gift from God, especially the gift of eternal life. I repeat: **We deserve NOTHING. **

The problem here is your attitude, not God.

questionable at best. and those cryptic messages to the kids too. many people saw nothing and those figures are questionable.

why didn’t Mary just appear to everyone instead of the sun thing.

in my opinion God wouldn’t fool around. he’d do something big, profound, beyond doubt.
“Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day. And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man’s table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores. Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.’ And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father’s house—for I have five brothers—in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’ But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’” Luke 16: 19-31

You’re like the rich man’s relatives…do you realize that? You won’t be persuaded by anything, because you don’t really want to be. There is plenty of evidence for God’s existence and His love for us. We have the Church that Christ left us and the Holy Spirit to guide us. If that’s not enough for you, then even your own private revelation wouldn’t be enough. You’d wonder if you had hallucinated or some other reason would come up for you to doubt. Notice that private revelations tend to be presented to people who are already living the Faith…not people who say “God, if You’re up there, I dare You to come down here.”

And we will all see Christ face to face very soon…at the moment of our death. If you haven’t made up your mind to trust Him before that time, then I’m sure you know what happens…

“Let this Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, so that we may see and believe!” Those who were crucified with Him were also insulting Him." - Mark 15:32

Itullian, are you not doing this exact same thing? You are mocking God.

@OP I’ll call it right now, you aren’t Catholic, stop trolling.

There have been countless saints, who have performed many wonders, and miracles throughout Catholic history. I find it hard to believe how a “Catholic” could utter what you just said. I’ve seen most of the threads you’ve made on your profile and your either a troll or an uncatechized Catholic who knows nearly zilch about his faith. Take a look at church history and you’ll know our Church has been guided by Christ.

Excellent question, my friend, you are the answer to my prayers! I have been searching for someone to validate what I know. Since you are claiming you really want to know God, first you must answer one question:
Do you want everyone to be able to experience happiness without ever losing any peace (being completely free from disturbance)?

If so…

Find the solution to the following problem:
Given ALL the following:
-You, as a thinking, feeling, acting, living being exist in solitude (Hint: It is best to think of yourself existing as a single-celled being, similar to how you first came to be).
-There is nothing else in existence.
-The only method to create something, living or non-living, is to first think of it in full detail.
-You want to experience limitless happiness without ever losing peace.
How do you make that happen?

I recommend first thinking about what are the requirements and trying to figure out how to make those happen individually. For example, one requirement: To experience a limitless happiness, one cannot know everything. Since in your initial existence you have to know everything, you will have to think of a way of sacrificing all knowledge.

If you want to find the solution on your own, you must work towards being unconditionally patient and kind, so that your relationships and self may experience happiness without losing any peace.

If you would like any assistance, just ask.

My friend, I greatly look forward to an excellent and amazingly beneficial conversation. And I am extremely gladdened to see that you are remaining patient and faithful with Catholicism for it is the Fullness of Truth!

Considering how long it took God to bring salvation back to man from Adam to Christ - 2000 yrs is a short amount of time. Imagine if Mary had said “no” - we might still be waiting for Christ.

waaaaaaaaa?

waaaaaaaaa?
I am not sure what you mean, however, I will try offering some more insight:

Here is the task:
Given ALL the following:
-You, as a thinking, feeling, acting, living being exist in solitude (Hint: It is best to think of yourself existing as a single-celled being, similar to how you first came to be).
-There is nothing else in existence.
-The only method to create something, living or non-living, is to first think of it in full detail.
-You want to experience limitless happiness without ever losing peace.
How do you make that happen?

Requirements:
  • In order to ensure an unbreakable peace will remain for all eternity in the Heavenly kingdom, you must know everything about every person to search the depths of their intentions and judge them accordingly. (Catechism: The Father)
  • In order to experience a limitless happiness, you can’t know everything, therefore you must think of a method to sacrifice knowing everything. (Catechism: The Begotten Son)
  • You have to have at least one other person that is equivalent to you in being. Reasoning: if you are greater than every other person, you cannot experience a limitless happiness. Therefore you must create at least one other person. (Catechism: The Holy Spirit)
  • In order to have unbreakable peace for every person, all must freely choose to follow the rules to maintain a society with unbreakable peace and happiness for all. Reasoning: if they only participate out of fear, there will be a loss of peace for some, and this is unacceptable. Therefore, you must create a person(s) that is not afraid to deny, challenge, or reject you or your kingdom. In other words, you must create a person that does not know you exist and can freely with pure desire and without fear, choose to live according to your rules. (Catechism: Free Will)
  • In order to grant creations the opportunity to choose to live accordingly, you must create two places: an earthly place to allow all the freedom to choose of which they cannot know whether the Heavenly place exists, and a Heavenly place for those that choose to live accordingly. (God created heaven and earth).
  • Since your creations are ignorant, you will have to show them how to live accordingly. (Catechism: For us and our salvation, He came down from Heaven).
  • In order to achieve the objective of genuinely granting freedom to follow, you will have to create many persons, and they must all be of equal nature. (Catechism: All have same nature).
I hope this helps.

It is funny, Jesus did say he was coming soon… Guess soon has different definitions, heh…
Well, there is a joke about this…

A man once had a conversation with God. He asked, “Lord, I have always wondered about time. What is a thousand years like for you?” God answered, “For me a thousand years is like a second.”

The man then asked, “What about money? What is a million dollars like for you?” And God answered, “For me a million dollars is like a penny.”

The man became eager and said, “Lord, could you give me one of those pennies?” God answered, “No problem, but you will have to wait one second.”

“A foolish generation seeks after a sign, and the only sign that will be given it is the sign of the Prophet Jonah!”

I’m afraid if you refuse to believe by the same ordinary evidence as 99% of the rest of us, then you are bound to be as disappointed as those who were seeking signs and wonders from Jesus when He gave them the above response.

i’m the lost sheep

“will not he leave the 99 and go after the 1?”

i’m the lost sheep

“will not he leave the 99 and go after the 1?”
But if that sheep does not listen to and follow the shepherd’s voice it will remain lost.

And His voice speaks clearly to you from one source - ‘who hears you [the Apostles, the Church founded upon them] hears Me …’ - He did not leave us shepherdless!

The longest any of us have to wait isn’t much over 90 years. Meanwhile, His first advent/revelation is still current for many of us-and He can and has revealed Himself personally to many of us over the centuries-in the relatively ordinary means via faith as well as extra-ordinary means involving profound direct communication.

From the thread “Did God Create the World in Six Days?”
the Bible says 6 days

we know it’s billions of years.

Bible is wrong, face it.

one of the reasons i’ve lost my faith. 😦
I could have written that myself. So why do you state in your profile that you are Catholic when you are obviously atheist or agnostic? It just throws people off.
@OP I’ll call it right now, you aren’t Catholic, stop trolling.

I would give Itullian the benefit of the doubt. He is most likely a cradle Catholic who has recently lost his faith but has a hard time letting go of his identity as a Catholic. But he shouldn’t say in his profile that he is Catholic because that is misleading.

Well he must have been poorly catechized because he has yet to show us that he is knowledgeable in the Catholic faith. I mean, reading his posts, its almost common sense. The guy asks in one of his other threads if Satan is a real being or a metaphor* (according to christian belief i suppose). If he was actually geniunely asking, oh boy, it’s so basic. Itullian, tell us more about yourself, from your life as a Catholic to when you started to drift away. What made you unsure about your beliefs in God? What error did you find in the Catholic faith?..because your opening post in the thread “i’ve lost my faith”, “i’m heartbroken and in dispair. can anyone help”*, doesn’t help but feed my skepticism that you weren’t a former Catholic. Your posts show barely any knowledge about the Catholic faith, and when I say barely, I only say so because at least you know about genesis, the old testament, etc. But seriously, that’s as basic as anyone could get. Everything you have said on this forum are easily known by atheists, Muslims and other non-Christians. In other words, all of your posts in this forum fail to give me (or anyone i bet) a decent inkling that you were a former Catholic. I see that you didn’t respond to my last post. I apologize if I offended you, and in the end if i am wrong, sorry. However, in the meantime my view has not yet wavered, you are either a troll or an EXTREMELY uneducated Catholic who barely knew a thing about his faith to begin with. :hmmm:

Human notions of temporal significance are irrelevant as far as God is concerned…
