itullian, I’m reposting my own post because it appears you failed to answer my question. Are you not doing what I wrote above?
 
I would like to add one simple observation and warning here. There is a tendency to say that people have lost their faith because they are poorly catechized. Basically, it places the problem at the feet of the Church.

Here is the issue with this. Long before the catechetical renewal we had many people who had lost their faith. This is what Francis and Dominic dealt with during the Middle Ages. There was no change in catechesis then.

It was the case during the Protestant Reformation. Again, there was no change in catechesis.

After the French, Mexican and American revolutions, there was a loss of faith in these places. It had nothing to do with changes in the catechism.

There are many reason why people loose the faith, one of them can be poor catechesis and most of it falls on their doorstep.

Having said that, a person who says, “Help me, I’ve lost my faith,” has not really lost his faith. He wouldn’t be asking. If a person believes that he’s a goner, He stops resisting the water and succumbs to drowning.

I totally agree with the OP!

the world is in shambles. Good people try to make sense of it and are stuck down often by others (usually not so good ) in society.
Sometimes , I really feel alone.

I think that is one of the reasons why we are designed to be in a faith-filled community. It is easier to live in the world and not be of the world if we often are with people who lift us up, and we can lift them up in return. The Body of Christ in prayer and action!

I will relate a little experience I had a couple of years ago when I was in depression.

I was lying in my bed, before going to sleep, and I had 2 realizations at the same time.
  1. That I am a very tiny part of the HUGE universe, essentially a dust mote, AND
  2. That I am infinitely loved by God.
It was not first one, then the other, it was BOTH at exactly the same time. So there was no time for me to despair about my relative insignificance before I knew that God knows me and loves me SO much.

Sounds like you’re having a rough time of it, itullian. 😦 You are in my prayers.

I’m afraid that this might be considered another platitude, but many, many people have had crises and “dry spells” like the one you are experiencing now. Please don’t turn your back on the Lord who died for you, even if you’re not quite sure what you believe right now. Such a Divine act of love is worthy of many years of patient endurance from us, His children. Hang in there!

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
 
I’m a product of the (NY) 1970s religious instruction. So yeah, it was poor. I fell a lot during my late teens and early twenties but that was mostly because of the company I kept. I can’t use being “poorly catechized” as my excuse. I believe Our Lady tapped me on the shoulder and led me back home to her Son. Call that my apparition (sorry, no earthquakes, read 1 Kings below). Finding out the Truth of our faith was up to me. I had to do the “leg work”. You’ve got to want to.

And for those who post on here saying, “I totally agree with the OP!”, I thought this forum was to support people trying to come home or regain their faith. And what are you doing? Stirring the pot. You’re supposed to be helping this OP regain their faith (if in fact that’s what he wants), not help them fall further away from it.

And to the OP, if your intention was to have God put on show for you, on your terms, then maybe you shouldn’t be posting or starting threads to begin with.

But if you really are searching, then we all hope and pray that you find your way home.

We deserve nothing. His grace is enough. If you study Fatima, you will see it points to a coming Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Saints have indicated this to be a mass conversion of many in the world. Pope Benedict prayed at the Fatima shrine in May, 2010 for this to come before the centenary of Fatima in 2017. So be ready!

Also, in the 1930s, Our Lady indicated to Saint Faustina that her writings on Divine Mercy were to prepare us for the Second Coming:
*You have to speak to the world about His great mercy and prepare the world for the Second Coming of Him who will come, not as a merciful Savior, but as a just Judge. Oh how terrible is that day! Determined is the day of justice, the day of divine wrath. The angels tremble before it. Speak to souls about this great mercy while it is still the time for granting mercy. (Diary 635).*The Divine Mercy devotions were approved in 2000 by JPII who also canonized Sister Faustina and also declared the Sunday after Easter to be known as Divine Mercy Sunday (check it out next Sunday!) This is a sign that the Second Coming is close, since the spread of the Divine Mercy devotion serves as our preparation for that moment.

Fatima Miracle of the Sun
  1. The time and place of this event was predicted three months in advance.
  2. The miracle both began and ended abruptly.
  3. “The sun danced around, sending off great shafts of colored light which tinted objects on the ground. Should you believe the children were liars and that the miracle of the sun was the result of chance…a mere coincidence, or just some giant magic trick set to deceive the public, keep in mind that the three children were subjected to 48 hours of imprisonment by the government. They were threatened to death by boiling oil and were interrogated separately, yet, not a single one of them faltered. Two of the three children died at a young age while the oldest one lived a pious, holy life as a nun and just passed away recently.

The powerful Portuguese goverment, which had ruled for 7 years with an incredible anti-clerical mood had failed. It strongly espoused atheism, vowing that it would wipe religion within two generations. Lisbon, was the atheist capital of the world and a few years after the miracle of the sun, it was no longer. The miracle converted an enormous amount of atheists, those at the crowd who witnessed it and others who were swayed by evidence and testimony. In fact, Antonio Maria da Silva himself, who was the nominal founder of the goverment party, was one of the notable figures that converted. O Seculo, one of the two most prominent newspapers of Portugal during that time (and one known for being “predominantly anti-religious”, attested to the event). And as you can imagine, their testimony caused a lot of controversy, especially since they had been ridiculing the children and the “prophesied miracle” prior to its happening.

I don’t think it’s a ridiculous comment, considering your past comments about how you want Him to reveal Himself, and the thread title. 🤷

Either way, I’m glad you are sincere. I will try to figure out how I can help (in addition to prayer…which is VERY powerful…like the rosary).
