I won’t bore you all with the details, I’ve posted on our complicated relationship a few times already. The jist of the story- we have an almost 16 year old son together and have been living in sin for the majority of those 16 years.
I’ve felt a calling to return to my faith the last few years and am living in a separate room (have been for months now). We’ve just decided to part ways. I am choosing to put God first in my life, and have realized how self destructive to my soul my relationship is. Not only that, but I have NOT been a good example to my son over the years.
He (my ex) told me a few days ago that his intension is to have our son at his house every other week… and I fear that will not go over well with our son. I get the impression he wants ro do this solely to avoid paying too much child/spousal support
although I pray i’m wrong. My son and I are very close, I’ve been the one to take care of him all of these years, the constant nurturer. . While his dad has shown more interest in his friends and fun. My son doesn’t want to live with him part time, he wants to live with me and visit with his dad.
I don’t want to wind up having to take this to court, i’ve made that much clear to my ex… but to protect my son, and give him the much needed support and stability he needs, I will go that route if I have to.
I would appreciate any advice anyone can give me. I am trying to go at this in a non negative way. Praying that God leads the way and softens his heart, that He helps him understand. I fear that pushing this to the courts will fog my road… I feel like if Mike doesn’t agree to our terms, that it may be because God wills him to have his son living with him as well… that it’s His will.
I would never stand in my ex’s way, he loves his son… I want him to have a relationship with him… but I don’t want to force it on my son. I fear it would be too hard on him.
I’d appreciate any prayers you can throw our way. I don’t pray that I get my way- I pray that God gets His way… and that He gives me the ability to accept whatever His will may be… even if it’s hard for us to understand and accept.
