I find it more insulting to him when people claim to speak for him or in his name on issues he chose to remain silent on. But there you go.
I’ve not seen anything discussed the Church hasn’t made its teaching clear on.

That’s not the question, The question is whether or not Church teachings reflect Jesus’ teachings. Most of the time they do, sometimes they don’t. It’s our job to change them when they don’t.

Interesting article on Falwell’s death and how young evangelicals like young Catholics are more open to homosexual issues and environmental issues. I think this is why the Pope/Vatican backed off what would hav been at one time a traditional orthodox stance on the reception of communion. They know history is not on their said as apparently new leadership among the Baptitis recognizs too. IMO I think 100 years from now both catholic and fundamenatlist/evangelical positions will be greatly changed. We see that process underway now:

The change you will be seeing and is already happening is a lot more envangelicals and other protestants coming into the Catholic Church because of Her strong stand on morality issues and the backbone of the magisterium to stand on those teachings of faith and morals which haven’t changed.

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice. And I know them: and they follow me.

You going to nail your beliefs on whats wrong with the Catholic Church to a Church door some where?

Did Jesus gave you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, or did he gave that to Peter, who in turn gave it to his successors. You must remain obedient to the Church period.

BillP,

Have you contacted the Vatican with your concerns? And if you think the Church has lied in the past, why are you still a Catholic?

God bless,
Ed

Technically if someone disagrees with such basic Church beliefs haven’t they already?

I call them hypocrites. If they practice Catholic Apologist they should stop because they themselves disagree with the Church and demand that Rome change its doctrines and certain discipline by allow women priesthood.

I think Catholic dissenters are more hard headed than Protestant Apologists. They apparent want change, while some of us more “traditional” Catholic do not want change.

The only thing I disagree with is this uncompassionate term of disorder for a homosexual orientation. Does that make me a hypocrite? Don’t think so. I still agree that the behavior is a sin but not because it goes against nature’s laws but God’s laws.

You’re seriously deluded if you believe for a second that Jesus Christ held any of your modernist, secular, views while on earth. There was absolutely no one in Judea in the first century who believed that homosexual behavior was anything less than gravely immoral (except perhaps homosexuals themselves). Jesus Christ told us that we’re committing adultery if we even LOOK at someone we’re not married to with lust. And guess what - they didn’t have gay marriage in the first century! Figure it out! If you imagine that Jesus Christ would be in agreement with your views, you’re seriously confused.

If Jesus Christ were preaching on earth today, you would be very quick to condemn him and his ‘backwards’ views from the ‘dark ages’.

I tell ya’ll what. Ya’ll look at the Catholic Church at say 100 AD, 500AD, 1500AD, 1950AD and 2007AD and tell me it never changes.

It not only has changed (massively!) it will continue to change. This thread started when I offered to bet that the Church’s teaching on ABC, Female Priests and Homosexual behavior would change within 25 years. I stand by that.

I honestly don’t care what any of the bunch of you think. The Canon law says I’m Catholic until and unless I formally renounce Catholicism and join another religion (which I have no intention of doing), so ya’ll are just going to have to put up with me unless you all go join SSPX and spend your lives grousing and complaining about how the Cafeteria Catholics have taken over the Church…

You are betting against God. You find yourself completely at odds with the desposit of faith. Since female priesthood and homosexual behavior have never been accepted since it’s birth at Pentecost.

Jesus Christ instituted a male priesthood, women will NEVER BE ALLOWED to become Priest and nor will Homosexual activity be allowed.

I find Caferia Catholics totally against the Church. They ought to re-examine themselves if they want the Church to become a popular church and allow that homosexuality is ok. homosexual is an immoral evil, women priesthood was never allowed in the Levite priesthood since that priesthood is ENTIRELY male.

Jesus is a JEW. He came had a Jewish education and mindset. He came to fullfill the Law not to abolish it. He instituted a MALE priesthood and He is the high priest. Unless Jesus himself reincarnated as women, there would be a justification for female priesthood.

He did not institute a female priesthood. We see this in Church history. Pope John Paul II himself said that the Church had NO authority to allow women priesthood, and many Popes have condemned homosexuality even the earliest Christian catechesis condemned homosexuality as well as abortion.

homosexuality is EVIL. MORALLY EVIL. It is the selfish love and against God’s design. It also falls under the desposit of faith. Therefore this teaching cannot change.

The issue of slavery change because it brought forth abuses towards the slaves. The Holy Spirit will not allow the Church to change its doctrine.

If you so desire to change the Church teachings on these grounds, you better join a Protestant Church because you apparently have issues with these unchanging doctrines on morals and faith.

I shall pray for you and change your ridiculeous liberal ideas.

Homosexuality is an disorder. God made us male and female. He did not intend that a man to be alone, he created a female so that a man can have a helper.

You should read John Paul II Theology of the Body… It brings about a whole new prespective on human sexuality in relationshipn with God.

and complaining about how the Cafeteria Catholics have taken over the Church…
You are thinking like liberal-white-American, your world view is from that view point, guess what, the majority of the Church is not liberal, nor white, nor American praise be to God. May I suggest you read Philip Jenkins’ *The Next Christendom, the Coming of Global Christianity and *The New Faces of Christianity: Believing the Bible in the Global South

The reformation is coming to an End - the Kingdom of God is hand.

You are a liberal… you wish to the Church to be secular. Do you think Church doctrine is dictated by polls?? NO. Doctrine is not a popularity contest my friend. If you think that you should leave the Catholic Church like the rest of the heretics and hyprocrites.

BillP,

You don’t belong in the Catholic Church if you keep these views. You need to re-examine yourself before you lead others to such liberal ideas.

You know you are Very WRONG in your way of thinking.
