Golly, gee! It looks like I wasn’t the only one waiting to pounce! 😛

How about we make this one the official thread? I was here first. 😃

No you weren’t

I just got home from Adoration and couldn’t wait to look it up.

😃

I don’t know about that we both posted at 6:23am. We will have to go to the judges and see if they a count in seconds. 😛

Heck I don’t care who was first I’m glad it has happened. I:thumbsup: :highprayer: :hug1:

Amen! The tide in the Church has indeed changed. The restoration is underway. Thank God for Benedict XVI.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

:extrahappy: :bounce: :extrahappy: :bounce: :extrahappy: :bounce: :extrahappy: :bounce:

I am over joyed!!! There is Tridentine Mass here in Singapore, except SSPX. I am so happy that the excommunications have been lifted!

Alleluja!

😃 🙂 👍

Hopefully the confusion over whether we can receive Holy Communion from the SSPX will end now.

😃 🙂 👍

Here’s the most important part:

"According to the faculties expressly conceded to me by the Holy Father Benedict XVI, by virtue of the present decree, I remit the censure of excommunication latae sententiae, pronounced by this Congregation on July 1st, 1988, from Bishops Bernard Fellay, Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, Richard Williamson, and Alfonso de Gallareta and, as of this day, I likewise declare void of juridical effects the Decree published at the time." - Card. Giovanni Battista Re

What juridical effects is the Cardinal referring to?

I think something was lost in the translation. I wonder of the word “the” should have been “that”, which would make it read this way.

“I likewise declare void of juridical effects the Decree published at **that **time.”

It seems he’s declaring the whole decree invalid, as if they had never been excommunicated.

This is probably a better translation:

“According to faculty expressly granted to me by the Holy Father Benedict XVI, by virtue of this decree, I remit to the Bishops Bernard Fellay, Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, Richard Williamson and Alfonso de Galarreta the censure of excommunication latae sententiae declared by this Congregation on 1 July 1988 while I declare without juridical effects, as of today’s date, the decree issued at that time.”

It also clarifies that these effects are remitted only as of the 21st.

Okay…so if they’re not excommunicated anymore, can I attend Mass there?

Here’s another translation I found:

"Based in the faculty expressly granted to me by the Holy Father Benedict XVI, in virtue of the present Decree, I remit to Bishops Bernard Fellay, Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, Richard Williamson, and Alfonso de Galarreta the censure of latae sententiae excommunication declared by this Congregation on July 1, 1988, while I declare deprived of any juridical effect, from the present date, the Decree emanated at that date. "

I believe the Osservatore Romano is going to have an article clarifying this today.

No matter what, though, many will take this as a sign that they’re free to attend. ‘Adherence to schism’ was one of the big reasons given not to attend. As of today, no one can say that a schism exists.

As Roman authorities had already said, you could have attended Mass there the whole time. Due to the irregular situation in the Church, it was not forbidden to attend Mass at an SSPX Church, which was in an irregular situation. You just weren’t allowed to attend with the express intention of separating yourself from the Pope. If that was not your intent, you were permitted to attend. With this present decree, it should eliminate any further scruples on the matter.

I am just asking because I want to attend Sunday Mass tomorrow:D . I guess I am just a bit eager. I have been waiting a long time for this.
