The same could be argued about the intention of Protestant “symbolic Eucharist”, yet you as a Catholic are not allowed to participate in that ritual, either.

**You´re going to compare Islamic fast (which they offer to God and God only) to how protestants discharge and disrespect our beloved Lord in the Most Holy and Adorable Eucharist? How dare you. The two can´t be argued. How could you possibly tell a Muslim you´re wrong for fasting for 30 days, now try to find reasons for telling a protestant why its wrong to think of the Eucharist only as symbolic. This is uncalled for.I don´t understand such hatred. This post wasn’t intended for evil acts done by men, but by simply praying for Muslims during their fast.

Now please, let us stop criticizing and pray for Muslims that they overcome great struggles during Ramadan.

Isn’t fasting for Ramadan is different than fasting for Lent? They are allowed to eat before the sun comes up and after the sun goes down, I don’t know how limited the amount of food is. We are limited to one full meal and 2 small meals when we are fasting during Lent. I give up meat also during Lent, (not required) but do Muslims have to give up meat during Ramadan?

If Muslims will abandon their desire for a worldwide caliphate (to supersede national sovereignty - powers the Medieval popes once claimed) and abandon the jizya tax on unbelievers (and the death sentence on those who convert from Islam to other religions), this would a long ways to resolving the conflict between Islam and modernity. It’s not uncharitable to say this.

they are not allowed to eat anything during bright day. Once its dark they can eat anything they want. But that’s not the point, the point is they are fasting for the Good Lord. So prayers would be appreciated. :)😃

By the way, what do you guys think of the picture I found on the internet?

I´ve been thinking and I think during the last week of Ramadan I will join fasting with my brothers and sisters in Allah. I think it be a good idea to unite with others to fast for our Eternal Father in heaven.

We are friends with a practicing Muslim Family and their daughter is keeping the Ramadan Fast very well. She didn’t even take water to drink when we went Kayaking on Labor Day, even though it was hot.

My daughter tried to keep Ramadan for just that one day and was unable to. It is a rough Fasting regiment during the day, but when it became dark we were at the Fair and the girl ate whatever she wanted. And she wanted Funnel Cake! & Curly Fries : )

There is only 1 God and the CCC has positive things to say about the Faith of Islam. I don’t think that there is any harm in trying to keep the Ramadan Fast with them. It’s a time of remembering that we must depend on God alone for all of our temperal needs and that God is more important than even the food we eat.

That’s interesting about your Muslim friends. I agree that fasting truly is a good way to focus on God. And it makes “Give us this day our daily bread” so much more meaningful.🙂
 
I can’t imagine how other Muslims would react when they read these posts. They will be shocked to see that some Christians *are actually asking God to help the Muslims during Ramadan *. I’m speechless !!
but I will do one thing, I’ll will translate these prayers into Arabic and post them in a Muslim forum that I frequently visit. I can’t wait to see their reaction , I’m sure that will clear up a lot of misconceptions in their views toward Christians and the West.

Great post, Ben! This is a good but arduous time for Muslims. I bet it’s tough because Ramadan is not just about fasting. During Ramadan, Muslims have to make sure to pray more frequently, open the Koran a bit more, make sure to go to all Friday prayers, and be extra nice to other people. I respect their devotion.

Hadi, this post nearly brought me to tears. I am so glad I did this. I have been personally struggling with other things in life, but this is a great relief. The fact we can connect to others in mysterious way is so amazing to me. So please let me say thank you for giving your efforts.
