I’ve bought only a few in my lifetime, some of which I’ve given to friends and family. Most have been given to me. I have a few ones special to me, others I keep and am happy to give away if someone needs it.
The finger rosary I purchased became part of an interesting story. I purchased it because of the numerous rosaries that had broken in my pocket. One day upon visiting the local Dominican monestary I went to grab it out of my pocket to pray with it to find it had broken (how I have no idea). I proceeded to pray my rosary with my fingers. Upon leaving the monestery chapel a rosary was hanging on the stairway railing. It was not there when I entered. I took it to mean it was meant to replace my other one. This one was aestheticly nothing special, one of those plastic ones given away for free in churches. Because of this story it was very close to my heart and i kept it hanging in my car when not using it. In October of 2018 I received a call that a good friend of mine was unresponsive in critical condition following a suicide attempt. When I went to visit her, the only thing I could think to give to her was this rosary. Sadly, after two weeks on life support, my friend passed away. My simple little plastic rosary was on her person when she passed and was one of the things placed with her in the casket. I still miss that little plastic rosary hanging in my vehicle, but I’m glad that my friend had it in her final moments and has it, mortally, for eternity.
