Although, as a Protestant, I agree with your decision to not be affiliated with the Roman communion; I must ask why you felt the need to post that decision here? It seems to be of a personal nature…
This person has a point…why bother. We are people, not an authority. A dig? Why bother with that either! People are funny sometimes!

I pray your search leads you to God’s truths. God bless you and your wife!

You had said above that you’d never been to a Mass, and that you weren’t allowed to. The Catholic Church does allow non-Catholics to attend its services, as long as they do not participate in the Eucharist.
That isn’t entirely correct, so long as they don’t receive communion, the sign of true unity with the church (a lot more than ‘a sign’), which they’ve not yet sacramentally and fully chosen in unity with the Church…but they can participate in the Mass, the Eucharist!

Have you read the ancient church fathers?
How much of the bible have you actually read on your own?
Do you know who the Patristic Fathers are?
Why did Paul warn Timothy about laying hands on just anyone?
What about John 6.
2 Thes. 2:15

What about sin? Are you gonig to make up what sin is now? Or is any sin okay now? Which sins are greater than others…
Are you actually going to teach that raping is just as bad a saying bad words? How about claiming that baptism is not necessary now. Should a woman speak in the worship? Do you start meeting on Saturdays now? Which middle of the week night are you going to meet on? How do you arrange the leadership in your church? Are women allowed to be preachers…elders…deacons…? At what age do you baptize, if you do at all? Does Satan actually exist? Is fornication okay now? How about Abortion? What about how we treat same sex attractions… what about the dignity of the human person? Do you excommunicate people that rise up against you now? Do you even bother to go to church anymore. You say you can get to know Christ now…well actually you will get to know and understand him much less. I’ve been there… It gets confusing once you lose truth. Every protestant faith has a majesterium, tradition and scritpure base. Everyone of them. I’ve been excommunicated in my own Protestant faith…twice. The last one was for my wife defending poor Catholics living in apartments from being treated like trash from our preacher and elders. Her daddy was a bishop… I was in the process of becoming a preacher… We have a large family of preachers, deacons and elder/bishops…its not so fun…its not easy at all if you really care about truth.

I could write all night long about why I returned after believing all of you, Catholic and non-Catholic were bound to hell because you were not a member of the one true church that Christ founded. I can spill my guts on what I learned but many of you would simply not get it. I could use a Vulcan mind meld and it would do nothing because first you must be open to the truth. I am discovering it all the time. I wish you luck on your journey. But I’ve been in your shoes at this stage in my life before. Beleive me when I say this… One day, you WILL regret it. I just pray that you really do not understand what you’re doing.

Chapter 4. Beware of these heretics

I give you these instructions, beloved, assured that you also hold the same opinions [as I do]. But I guard you beforehand from those beasts in the shape of men, whom you must not only not receive, but, if it be possible, not even meet with; only you must pray to God for them, if by any means they may be brought to repentance, which, however, will be very difficult. Yet Jesus Christ, who is our true life, has the power of [effecting] this. But if these things were done by our Lord only in appearance, then am I also only in appearance bound. And why have I also surrendered myself to death, to fire, to the sword, to the wild beasts? But, [in fact,] he who is near to the sword is near to God; he that is among the wild beasts is in company with God; provided only he be so in the name of Jesus Christ. I undergo all these things that I may suffer together with Him, Romans 8:17 He who became a perfect man inwardly strengthening me. Philippians 4:13
Chapter 5. Their dangerous errors

**Some ignorantly deny Him, or rather have been denied by Him, being the advocates of death rather than of the **truth. These persons neither have the prophets persuaded, nor the law of Moses, nor the Gospel even to this day, nor the sufferings we have individually endured. For they think also the same thing regarding us. For what does any one profit me, if he commends me, but blasphemes my Lord, not confessing that He was truly] possessed of a body? But he who does not acknowledge this, has in fact altogether denied Him, being enveloped in death. I have not, however, thought good to write the names of such persons, inasmuch as they are unbelievers. Yea, far be it from me to make any mention of them, until they repent and return to [a http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/15073a.htm”]true belief in] Christ’s passion, which is our resurrection.
Chapter 6. Unbelievers in the blood of Christ shall be condemned

Of course you’re allowed to! Why would you think not!

Bless you, Trishie
Not allowed to? By whom? Certainly not the Church…

You had said above that you’d never been to a Mass, and that you weren’t allowed to. The Catholic Church does allow non-Catholics to attend its services, as long as they do not participate in the Eucharist.
I hope they do lol

Let no man deceive himself. Both the things which are in heaven, and the glorious angels, and rulers, both visible and invisible, if they believe not in the blood of Christ, shall, in consequence, incur condemnation. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it. Matthew 19:12 Let not [high] place puff any one up: for that which is worth all is faith and love, to which nothing is to be preferred. But consider those who are of a different opinion with respect to the grace of Christ which has come unto us, how opposed they are to the will of God. They have no regard for love; no care for the widow, or the orphan, or the oppressed; of the bond, or of the free; of the hungry, or of the thirsty.
Chapter 7. Let us stand aloof from such heretics

**They abstain from the **Eucharist and from prayer, because they confess not the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Saviour Jesus Christ, which suffered for our sins, and which the Father, of His goodness, raised up again. Those, therefore, who speak against this gift of God, incur death in the midst of their disputes. But it were better for them to treat it with respect, that they also might rise again. It is fitting, therefore, that you should keep aloof from such persons, and not to speak of them either in private or in public, but to give heed to the prophets, and above all, to the Gospel, in which the passion [of Christ] has been revealed to us, and the resurrection has been fully proved. But avoid all divisions, as the beginning of evils.
Chapter 8. Let nothing be done without the bishop

See that you all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as you would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is [administered] either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not lawful without the bishop either to baptize or to celebrate a love-feast; but whatsoever he shall approve of, that is also pleasing to God, so that everything that is done may be secure and valid.
Chapter 9. Honour the bishop

Moreover, it is in accordance with reason that we should return to soberness [of conduct], and, while yet we have opportunity, exercise repentance towards God.** It is well to reverence both God and the bishop. He who honours the bishop has been honoured by God; he who does anything without the knowledge of the bishop, does [in reality] serve the devil.** Let all things, then, abound to you through grace, for you are worthy. You have refreshed me in all things, and Jesus Christ [shall refresh] you. You have loved me when absent as well as when present. May God recompense you, for whose sake, while you endure all things, you shall attain unto Him.

I actually want a relationship with Christ…
As does Pope Benedict:
Christ says: “If you love me … ” Faith does not just mean accepting a certain number of abstract truths about the mysteries of God, of man, of life and death, of future realities. Faith consists in an intimate relationship with Christ, a relationship based on love of him who loved us first (cf. 1 Jn 4:11), even to the total offering of himself.

“God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us” (Rom 5:8). What other response can we give to a love so great, if not that of a heart that is open and ready to love?

But what does it mean to love Christ? It means trusting him even in times of trial, following him faithfully even on the Via Crucis, in the hope that soon the morning of the Resurrection will come. Entrusting ourselves to Christ, we lose nothing, we gain everything. In his hands our life acquires its true meaning.

So, I just, in great detail, explained to my wife why I no longer consider myself a RC and why I have left the Church. She totally understood and supports my decision.

I feel great, like the chains of bondage have been removed. The RCC is a fine institution and if some people can find God within that particular Church, then it is a very good thing.

The Church was holding me back, for years, this is an exciting time. I no longer have the distraction of the all the Catholic requirements that are necessary for any hope of my salvation. Those distractions also prevented me from forming any relationship with God.

When someone asks, ’ are you a Catholic’, I will respond, nope I am a Christian! 👍
Praise God! I am so happy for you! PM me anytime you wish. Now, without the weight of the externals, you are free to really know Christ.

Yep. Now you can just be 100% sure, beyond a shadow of a doubt. I’m glad you’re at peace with your decision. May God have mercy on you.
He has had mercy on him, he set him free!

Let me make this really clear. You have NOT officially left the Catholic Church until you write and submit a letter to your Ordinary…your bishop explaining why you reject the teachings of the Church. You must make this very clear and sign it and actually submit it. But I didn’t do it and now I’m back…Thank God I didn’t do that.

As far as breaking the chains…you have just wrapped them around your neck. You wife obviously doesn’t understand either. I knew what I was doing was a chance. My story is long a full of pain, which is why I fell prey to the sin of pride in leaving…sort of a self-defense mechanism in my life. I grew up in a mixed religious home with divorced parents. I still believe that I knew the teachings of the Church but I was brainwashed into believing solo scripture from the woman that actually raised me…Mom and then step mom. Dad was a lost Catholic too… I learned more about scripture at an early age… which is what brought me back home ultimately…not the “crazy” beliefs we have. Thos make sense when you take scripture in its original context.

You must have had a problem with sin or something in your life that you didn’t understand. You are not free. And do you practice a Protestant faith now? Just the words you chose to express yourself sound Catholic…most Catholic do not know the teachings of the faith and why… You obviously do not… Now I realize that you will most likely argue that you do know and just will deny them as truth. That is on your head and I will pray for you…you will need it. I left as an adult at the age of 28 and returned 17 years later. I’ve been home for almost 2 years now… I really wanted to be Orthodox once I realized that the church was truly one holy catholic and apostolic. It’s historical fact…that protestants have to twist to fit their model. I am praying for you, your wife and your family…

Pax tecum
More nonsensical rules and regs…they wont even let you leave without dead weight of their manmade rules.

Habemus Papam!! We have another Pope! Enjoy!! You now have great freedom! Awesome! But to whom much has been given, much is required. Aw screw it… you probably won’t mess it up. Have fun with your religion tho…
At least his is real.

*“Many therefore of his disciples, hearing it, said: This saying is hard, and who can hear it? *But Jesus, knowing in himself, that his disciples murmured at this, said to them: Doth this scandalize you? If then you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth: the flesh profiteth nothing. The words that I have spoken to you, are spirit and life. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning, who they were that did not believe, and who he was, that would betray him. And he said: Therefore did I say to you, that no man can come to me, unless it be given him by my Father. After this many of his disciples went back; and walked no more with him. Then Jesus said to the twelve: **Will you also go away?****And Simon Peter answered him: Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. **And we have believed and have known, that thou art the Christ, the Son of God.” - John 6, 61-70
And it seems he has indeed turned to Christ. Your point?

Your post is the type that really validates a decision like his…what condecension! What arrogance!

I’d also like to inform you that you’ve just read part of the Douay-Rheims translation of the Bible.

I’m sure you’ll want to go wash your eyes or perform some Southern Baptist purification ritual or something.
