You’ve probably already heard that you can offer up your sufferings to God as well and you probably do that. However, even if you suffer your entire life and don’t ever feel God’s presence or that he is with you, you certainly will be made aware of it and rewarded in Heaven if you remain faithful to the Catholic Church. Oh, and Confirmation, to my knowledge is not necessary for one’s salvation and eternal life. So, even if you never are able to get confirmed that shouldn’t pose a problem as long as you remaing faithful throughout your life and trust in God even if you don’t see the benefits in your lifetime.

You know, this was not very nice. I actually know quite a bit about depression. It runs in my family and I have had to deal with it my entire life.

It is this very type of response that discourages those, like me, who want to help you. Sometimes truth is painful. You must take personal responsibility.

There is a very good book out there which can help you. Feeling Good: The New Mood Therepy by Dr. David D. Burns. This book is ofte used by clinicians but can also be used as self-help. I strongly encourage it. It has greatly helped two of my relatives go from being bed-ridden with depression to normality without drugs or years of therepy. (Though they did have professional help, of course.)

I will continue pray for you.
Do not pretend that in your first post you were trying to help me and now will pray for me. Where were your prayers initially?

You did not respect my wishes that any advice on my depression NOT be discussed as I posted in this thread. Thus you did not show me respect.

Then you went on to question what I have done and told me to get off my chair… And you have the nerve to say you were trying to help me and will continue to pray for me?

MODS PLEASE LOCK THIS THREAD… It is obvious I cannot take my own advice and ignore posts when it comes to my depression and those who make a joke out of it.

I need to just stay offline period.

rpp, when you have depression, you cannot take personal responsibility, it is beyond you. Would you tell a cancer sufferer to heal themselves, and stop being such a loser?

Hi Maryam. I’m a first time poster. I didn’t plan to register until I saw your letter. I just had to write to you. I hear so much pain from your letter.

I hear you when you say…"This post is about my not having gotten support in my faith, not being helped when seeking to become Confirmed and realizing I don’t have any faith in Christ. If you want to make into “oh, well she has depression so she is making every problem bigger” thread… then please take it elsewhere."

I hope you won’t think I haven’t been listening (or rather, understanding) what you said above, but I’m going to say something which in case you feel that I am, yet again, adding pain to your suffering, please forgive me in advance.

I am going to recommend a site that might help you. And although I haven’t really gone through it too thorougly, I’ve gained some comfort from reading from this site. You see, I have a bother who is also suffering. Believe me when I say that people who cares for you, suffer with you. So, I am coming from that angle… I know we don’t know each other but … as a human being to another human being (in pain)…

The site is dbsa.invisionzone.com. I am hoping this will help you. I’m not sure if I’m going against rules for posting the site here. It’s just a discussion board where you can vent or if you even want, ask for advise (from Family & Friends section). It’s a support group in other words. (For depression and those with bipolar disease).

So I hope I didn’t offend you nor break any rules… and I hope the site will help you.

I’m also hoping that by giving you this site, I don’t do you more harm than good. Please, let me know **if **you ever get to visit the site, whether it helped you. I feel a lot of trepidation about recommending the site to you. But it really did help me. I’m hoping it will do the same to you.

PS. I admire you for sticking so long with our faith despite what you have been feeling (dryness). Someone here said, the will to pray (or in your case, staying catholic) is as much prayer as the prayer itself… or something to that effect.

PS…I’ve hated reading long posts, yet look at what I did!! First time to post anywhere too!!

Take good care of yourself…

For others out there…Hi!!
