Tim:

You came to my mind several times today.
And I have been praying for you.

God bless!

TOP,

In reading the Rule of St. Benedict and the reflections for that particular chapter today, I thought the reflections covered a bit about what you’ve been dealing with. Read the chapter but really focus on the two reflections that follow.

May God Bless You and Keep You
May His Face Shine Upon You

Hey, TOP, none of us love well enough-that’s one reason we need the Church to begin with-to tell us that something’s wrong. Adam & Eve started it all by rejecting Gods’ love. As I began to recognize my own lack in this area, it then became possible for me to do something about it. We have the awesome ability as Christians to ask for anything good and the Father will grant it. Like the father of the possessed by in Mark 9:24 who said, “I believe, help me in my unbelief.” Ask and have some patience. He’ll answer that prayer.

Salvation is by the grace of God. It sounds like you’re relying on your own natural ability when you should be praying to God for the grace to love and forgive. Remember it is Christ who lives in and through us. Where selfish human love fails, Christ’s love prevails. The whole aim of the spiritual life is for us to decrease and Christ to increase. Pray to God for all the gifts of the holy spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, self-control, gentleness and faithfulness. Ask our heavenly Father for all the actual graces you need to prevail in sanctifying grace. Remember, our Faith is one of grace. Grace gives us the ability to life the supernatural life, that is, above what is possible to our natural human selves.

Hi everyone,
I want to thank all for your prayers and advice. It seems that each one of your post’s have touched, in some part, on a complicated issue even though I have been vague about it. I often think of the parable of the man with 1 talent, who out of fear, buried it to no gain. Then when the master asked him what he did with his talent, he had done nothing and that was taking away and given to someone else. I don’t have much time right now so I’ll leave it open on that thought. Thanks, Tim

Tim,

Gods Blessings to you, your wife, your family, you’re in our prayers.

Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

question for you TOP:
Did you ever “once” have love—receiving or giving or feeling it?

For you to say you have no love, then you must already recognize what ‘love’ is----that’s a start!

Sometimes, God sends us someone else’s love for us to manifest and ignite the love that is inside of us! I know because it happened to me following my divorce. I was numb, lack of affect, did not care–and was still a Christian and a church-going Catholic. I was just going through the motions of life–with no emotion. Someone I met ,(a platonic friend) , who was so patient with me and showed me caring, love and respect when I didn’t want to receive it, helped me to heal. When I healed, I discovered love again.

Hope this true story helped you in some way.

Thanks you all, I need to focus on the war rather then the battle’s. If I stray, my family will follow. I have to reconcile, if not for myself, then for them. My mission has always been my family, to bring them to Christ at His command and my vows. I should have expected a challenge of this nature. The enemy is relentless and this attack seemed beyond my capability, but I am reminded the first thing God taught me. It was that my family are not my property and that I am a steward. I have to get back up and fight off the demons that once held me captive for so long, that have returned with wrath and despair, and choose to serve God despite adversity. Not questioning the reason behind the allowance of such attacks. Thanks for your prayers, Tim

How does Father Corapi say it, “Place yourself and your loved ones in the encolsed garden of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and She will protect you.” “Go to your Mother, our Mother Mary”. “As Mary is the Mother of our Lord, She is our Mother also (In the spiritual order), as such She has our best interest at heart”.
Praying Gods Blessings on you and your family now and always.

For me, the turning point in my (difficult) marriage came when I was deploring the defection of so many Priests and Religious from THEIR vows. I did a study of the vows of marriage (you’ld think I would have done this BEFORE saying “I do!”) and discovered that my vows were even MORE binding than the vows pronounced by most Religious. I.e., the vows of marriage are SOLEMN. Turned me totally around. When *I *turned around, gradually, so did my spouse.
