You do know that tracts like that are only gonna fuel the fire of pro-gay activists right? What Chick fails to utilize is the ability to use logic against whatever he is attacking. Anything that doesn’t use logic in a debate with regards to the gay agenda instantly gets the overused homophobe label.

The way he portrays gay people as seemingly wanting to take over the govenerment and with demons crawling over them is pretty awful.

You do have a point here.

There a powerful arguements as to why the homosexual lifestyle is destructive and counter-productive.

I agree that subtlety is not one of Chick’s strong points!

He should have given the reasons why heterosexual marriage is the system that God wants us to use.

This is perhaps one of the main failures with most of his comics - they do not show how God’s love is real and is the answer to all that Satan can throw at us.

Now that you mention it, I notice that he draws satan a lot more than he does Jesus. You don’t suppose that can tell us something about him do you?

What I don’t understand though is… why is his ministry still standing? Where’s he getting all that money? After all, if everybody already regards him as a crack pot then logically, most people wouldn’t even dream of buying any of his material so where’s he getting all that cash? Who keeps buying his garbage?

Paranoia is exactly that. It’s being ruled by fear. Of course a paranoid person can’t use logic. Fear isn’t logical, it’s visceral and powerful. It spreads because whoever picks it up becomes consumed and thinks it’s urgent to hook as many other people as possible, like any zombie or other contagious-monster film.

Well in a sense he does have a ministry because he has people preaching his hate message via his material. Still, that’s not really my question. The question is why the blazes is Chick Publications still in business? Who keeps falling for this nonsense and supplying wasted money to Chick and his ilk?

Jack’s motives are interesting… He claims his work is all out of love for people who do not know Jesus (Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Atheists, Homosexuals, etc, the list is endless). But the work itself clearly is not saying that these groups are all misguided people he wants saved. They are malicious and after their own ends. So is Chick driven by fear? I’m not so sure. He seemes perfectly fearless in his convictions. He is certain in his beliefs and sure in his religious zeal. Hes an extremist certainly, but pretty convinced of his own salvation. Not sure where the fear is. Although to be sure he is trying to induce fear in others.

Well, moms and dads who believe this junk, eventually pass it onto their kids…and then a whole new generation is born, spewing this garb. That’s my best guess.

That’s how it always is though. I’ve seen and been through paranoia of several types. It’s just as the Buffalo SPringfield song says: Paranoia strikes deep; into your life it will creep; it starts when you’re always afraid.
After being kind of afraid of everything it seems relieving to be afraid of only SOME things. But then the fear of some things deepens and becomes a cancer that consumes you. So you try to prove only the things you fear are dangerous – that the particular paranoid beleif system you wandered into is enough to explain the whole world. Any doubt seems like it might reopen the possibility that everything is scary and you won’t be able to function at all again. So proving the theory becomes so reassuring in its warped way that there is no more fear of normal scary things, like being made fun of or not being liked or dying alone or whatever. That’s why paranoid people often project such compelling confidence. They feel little or no fear of things that scare normal people because they have made a space for fear and are careful to keep it there, focused tightly on whatever htye have become convinced they should fear. But it doesn’t last forever. Soon the fear oozes out into everything again and the person falls apart or finds some kind of help.

I went to a Liza Minelli concert yesterday and I didn’t once think, “queers,” about the couples of men. Should I have? I thought the word queer is on the same level as the word ****** as far as acceptable conversation. Should I teach my Godchild to use the term, “queer,” so that she may be a better Christian and draw people to God? I’m serious. I didn’t know that this was acceptable.

I think it’s on the same level as showing little kids images of kissing demons…

These days it’s much more acceptable than the bundle-of-sticks one (the ‘GLBT’ acronym often has a Q for queer appended just to get all the bases covered). It can still be used insultingly, of course, but if you aren’t snarling most people won’t take offense.

Of course, when Jack was writing those tracts, I don’t think this was the case… :whacky:

Yeah I don’t think its acceptable at all. Chick is trying to dehumanise/demonise homosexuals in this comic. The use of the word queer by children is basically saying that there is no need to respect homosexuals at all, and its fine to just be derogoratory. Or thats what we should teach children. Which is certainly not what Catholics believe.

Not likely. I mean look at today’s generation. You got rockers, punks, otaku, gamers, skaters, cheerleaders, fan girls, emos, gangsters, goths… does that look like Jack Chick’s ideal teen generation to you? It’s mostly likely to give the old, uptight bloke nightmares.

Besides, I’ve got self-proclaimed fundamentalist friends online and even they dismiss Jack’s attitude. One even said that he disagreed with his views towards Catholicism!

I like the jack chick comic where a neo-nazi is confronted by Jews as he spray paints a hate symbol on a temple, and is overpowered by them so the police can come and arrest him.
