Like any false Prophet, jack mixes lies with truth. Makes it hard to see the truth sometimes.

Your poll is missing an option.

(x) I love them, Chick tracts are full of hilarious nonsense. Btw, Jack Chick is totally nuts.

**I’ve read a few stories regarding canonized saints and they’ve certainly been inspirational. Though currently, I’m interested in seeing the face of today’s church. I’m interested in seeing how the average Roman Catholic man/woman/child reflects the teachings of the church. **

I caught up to the man who initially gave me that Jack Chick tract and I was amazed with how serene and at peace he was when discussing Jesus. It amazed me because Jesus seems to be such a touchy subject in our country today, you know? 😦

Not saying that it’s a bad thing, but why are you more interested in how the average person reflects on Church teaching? Reading the saints is highly beneficial towards growing in holiness, while looking at the average, lukewarm Catholic Christian can only be detrimental (unless you are simply trying to better evangelize them, but you would still progress further in this area by working on your own holiness first.)

Just curious.

That’s good… but kinda scary. It’s good that he is serene and at peace he seems when discussing Christ… but its scary that a person that is serene and at peace would help to spread untruths.

See… what makes Jack Chick tracts so disturbing is that they get so CLOSE to the truth, then veer off… so that when you prepare to dispute it, it falls into a lot of ‘I didn’t mean it like that’.

It’s really scary. How they can take something that is good and try to make it bad.

The problem with publications such as this is that for the uneducated but “searching” person – this looks pretty good. Unfortunately, it’s packed with lies.

Pray for them.
Blessings,
Joanie

Laughing and mocking the man will do no good.

The very fact that he writes such things is evidence to me that he is not of Christ. He needs our help in prayer.

I also observe the way Catholics and Protestants conduct themselves in these forums. I look for evidences of love, hate, passion and prejudice. I look for signs of patience and temper and I use indicators such as these to help me on my way to the true Church of Christ, knowing full well that the true Church MUST be a reflection on the One upon whom it was initially founded.

Those who would often spew hateful words, one way or the other, would be hard-pressed to convince ANYONE that they belong to Christ… and I’ve seen evidence of impatience and acrimony on both sides of the fence.

This is so true. For something encouraging, head over to another topic in this forum, written by a very insightful and well-spoken 16-year old, who reminded us all to be careful how we approach others when we see a need to “correct”: forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=77119

However, because many of us are struggling with this, and we’re all human, be careful about judging a religion based on individuals. Especially if you are only looking for negative examples. Yes, some Catholics are Saints or aspiring Saints (literally). Some Catholics are not even close. Many are somewhere in the middle. You will find the very loving, the very not-loving, and the very mediocre in every Christian denomination. Sadly, we are human.

I know that they shall know us by our fruits, but a better measure of a religion or denomination is by the overall fruits. Not the fruits of an individual. Individuals are dealing with their own hangups…let God deal with their fruits!! Instead, what has the Church brought to bear on the world as a whole? It’s been very good on the whole, despite what may be taught in a University history class.

The point is, don’t look for warm fuzzies, look for Truth. There are a lot of questions to cover, and we may never get to all the answers. But seek the Truth on the big questions, and pray about it a lot. Pray to be led to the Truth. I am finding Truth every day in the Catholic Church, and seeing lots of love - more importantly, building Love in myself - every day. Thanks be to God!

Especially since he really isn’t very funny…
Pax tecum,

We MUST pray for him. Evil is the only source that could be leading him. But, it makes sense- we are told many times right in the Bible that evil will directly attack the TRUE church. Hello- anyone see a connection? Also, the Bible says to love everyone & not to judge others. If he REALLY was a Christian he would do neither! :nope:
Also, why does he attack our church primarily in the United States & thru US protestant missionaries in South America? Because the devil is sneaky & takes the barely visible approach. Evil can’t & WON’T face God head on, because it can’t win. But, if it moves in inconspicuously- it can @ least reap some havoc & create more lost souls, which is it’s untimate goal! Why doesn’t this man take all of the “facts” he’s collected & go head on against the Vatican- the root of the church itself? Because his evil influence knows the TRUTH! As true Christians, we know these facts to be true, because the actions of evil & the war between good & evil is written in the book of Revelation. Not, only have we read what happens in the end, but so has the devil. He knows he doesn’t stand a chance @ winning anything head on!So, we can be confident in our abilities to distinguish the TRUTH. After all- We “know what happens in the end- WE WIN!” Tim Staples. :amen:
Bottom Line: evil is OBVIOUSLY behind his ANTI-CHRISTIAN tactics. Remember- as Christians, it is NOT our duty to judge lost souls, but we ARE told to recognize & pray for lost souls. My suggestion- Everyone needs to put him in EVERY ONE of their ROSARY intentions & ask for as many SAINTLY intercessions as you can! I’m sure that he & his influence (AKA: Satan) will LOVE that! :gopray2:

Peace> Rebecca

It is truly amazing all the weird things people hear and/or believe about the Catholic Church (it’s power, evil designs on non-Catholics, etc.). When i took a history class in college, i learned that this country has a very anti-Catholic past. This is a Protestant country. Jack Chick is the extreme anti-Catholic, but people believe a lot of his ideas…

I hate to say this but i think it is the Catholic Church’s fault that people don’t know Her true teachings. i wasn’t and i was “raised Catholic”. I had to teach myself through books written by Catholics (and how many of those are in the libraries and colleges of our country?). I once believed in that “once saved, always saved” thing only because i didn’t know better. I was young and had never been catechized…It cost me. It nearly cost me my soul.

The Masons are infiltrating the Church, becoming priests, etc. in order to modernize, protestantize, etc. the Church… They are a major force behind the anti-Catholic sentiment in this country…
