Like any false Prophet, jack mixes lies with truth. Makes it hard to see the truth sometimes.

I caught up to the man who initially gave me that Jack Chick tract and I was amazed with how serene and at peace he was when discussing Jesus. It amazed me because Jesus seems to be such a touchy subject in our country today, you know?
That’s good… but kinda scary. It’s good that he is serene and at peace he seems when discussing Christ… but its scary that a person that is serene and at peace would help to spread untruths.font]

I also observe the way Catholics and Protestants conduct themselves in these forums. I look for evidences of love, hate, passion and prejudice. I look for signs of patience and temper and I use indicators such as these to help me on my way to the true Church of Christ, knowing full well that the true Church MUST be a reflection on the One upon whom it was initially founded.
Those who would often spew hateful words, one way or the other, would be hard-pressed to convince ANYONE that they belong to Christ… and I’ve seen evidence of impatience and acrimony on both sides of the fence.
This is so true. For something encouraging, head over to another topic in this forum, written by a very insightful and well-spoken 16-year old, who reminded us all to be careful how we approach others when we see a need to “correct”: forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=77119
However, because many of us are struggling with this, and we’re all human, be careful about judging a religion based on individuals. Especially if you are only looking for negative examples. Yes, some Catholics are Saints or aspiring Saints (literally). Some Catholics are not even close. Many are somewhere in the middle. You will find the very loving, the very not-loving, and the very mediocre in every Christian denomination. Sadly, we are human.
I know that they shall know us by our fruits, but a better measure of a religion or denomination is by the overall fruits. Not the fruits of an individual. Individuals are dealing with their own hangups…let God deal with their fruits!! Instead, what has the Church brought to bear on the world as a whole? It’s been very good on the whole, despite what may be taught in a University history class.
The point is, don’t look for warm fuzzies, look for Truth. There are a lot of questions to cover, and we may never get to all the answers. But seek the Truth on the big questions, and pray about it a lot. Pray to be led to the Truth. I am finding Truth every day in the Catholic Church, and seeing lots of love - more importantly, building Love in myself - every day. Thanks be to God!
Especially since he really isn’t very funny…Laughing and mocking the man will do no good.
It is truly amazing all the weird things people hear and/or believe about the Catholic Church (it’s power, evil designs on non-Catholics, etc.). When i took a history class in college, i learned that this country has a very anti-Catholic past. This is a Protestant country. Jack Chick is the extreme anti-Catholic, but people believe a lot of his ideas…Look no further than Catholic Answers for complete info on this poor crank:
