And of course, a Priest in the comic has to be a child molester. We can’t have Fr. going to jail for jay-walking, can we? Just not as compelling.:rolleyes:

Likely as not, millions. But don’t worry. He doesn’t get to enjoy it and his only child is dead IIRC (see Jimmy Akin’s column). He’s a shut-in, terrified of assassination. Akin is one of the few people who have ever spoken with him since the 70’s sometime.

We still have to be vigilant because there is some circumstantial evidence that he may be back but nothing concrete.

He won’t stop.
This is a hate crime. It is one thing to stand on a street corner and hand these out to people who are able to say “no thank you” but it is another thing to trespass, enter a church (it is private property) and leave them so that they have the potential of disrupting a planned event (Mass). …Hate is Hate and it is not acceptable in any way, shape or form. While these “comic books” carry a totally stupid and unrealistic look at the Catholic Church, they are still not something to be laughed at. Jack Chick has been at this since 1954 and he has thousands of followers and this is is just how misconceptions and misunderstandings are propagated and trouble starts. Not just here in the US but in other parts of the world as well.

Go ahead and laugh at this and other really STUPID messages but always keep in mind that there are thousands of people out there that take what he and other Anti-Catholic speakers say as gospel.

Actually, Chick has millions of American followers and millions more worldwide. And I would imagine few of them hate anyone.
Paranoia isn’t hate, though it can be used, as you point out, to fuel hate.😦
I am a survivor of a cultic Fundamentalist group. Imagine that you’re frustrated by trying to serve God as a soliary person with no resources in a very anti-Christian part of the world. You met some folks who love one another as small children love their friends, despite being every race and speaking many languages and coming from many socioeconomic strata etc. They all enjoy spending their time handing out clothing and home supplies to the poor in the homeles camps and shelters, who smile affectionately and talk about God all day and night, and who want to help you get a job and other needed things. All the repayment they want is some companionship as they pray and do good deeds, and they happen to be on their way to church if you’d care to join them, and you were leaving your church because it had too little teaching and few opportunities to serve, you might go. It’s a great show and everyone’s happy like it’s a rock festival, only with no violence or drugs, and you come out laughing.
Soon these people start letting you know they see the world as threatening and most Christians as not really Christians. You’re surprised, but soon you start to wonder if they’re right;they’re so nice and so effective at helping people. And they’ve become your whole world.
Eventually you feel sick with worry that it might be true, that only a handful of people are real Christians and most are fooling themselves. You are told that warning them is like saving them from a burning building. In fact, you are informed what a bad person you are and how you can make up for it only by bringing souls into your movement. Just about anything can be used to show how far behind you are.
When you talk to people in person about how they have to join a controlling group to be saved, they get angry and scream at you. You have absorbed the idea that questioning the movement would mean losing your soul. So you ask around about how to do your duty without getting hurt. Someone joyfully tells you there is literature that scares people enough to open minds to unusual ideas; of course, you mustn’t believe everything in it yourself, but there’s a whole genre of Christian scare lit – Chick, Alamo, WCG, Watchtower and much more – to frighten them enough to get them off-balance, then move in in person with invitations to events at your church, to get the real story.
People in systems like that have been drilled to consider opposition to be the prophesied persecution of their leaders that proves the leaders are prophets.:mad:
So the answer, IMO, is to pray for the conversion of Chick, Alamo, et al., and of the people who use their stuff or believe in it, and when confronted with the material, throw it away and respond with the truth.

But ALL Catholic priests are child molesters, right? :rolleyes: At least Chick seems to think so.
 
I agree with this guy in one thing, and ONLY one: By faith ALONE we’re saved, and if you’re a Christian, you have assurance of salvation.

But my agreement with him ends there! Jack Chick is a delusional madman, who no one should ever take seriously. Despite claiming the opposite, he shuns the Bible, because he rejects its teachings.
 
Well, that was even more unpleasant than usual…No wonder the guy lives in hiding. With that kind of paranoia filling his head, he probably thinks the whole world is out to get him.
Poor old guy…Really, he’s pathetic. Or he would be, if he weren’t so revolting.
 
Years ago I used to read his junk and took it seriously. Then when I became intersted in Catholicism (again) I read his junk again and took it seriously. Thank God I was still able to find the truth in the Church! When I read this stuff now I laugh but I also remind myself that people take this guy serious. I believe my father left the Church because of this guy! :mad:

I know. That’s why I keep an eye out and keep track of these things and don’t let them slide.

Been there, done that when I was very young and VERY stupid. Pentecostal/Evangelical who loved to point out how all Catholics were not Christians and were going to Hell. Unfortunately, my children still go to a similar church (AofG) and do so because of their father who is Anti-Catholic. My daughter and I have some very intense conversations but she knows where to stop before invoking the wrath of Mom. My son actually married a Catholic so I’m hoping there are still possibilities in his future. He isn’t much of a church goer anyway.

True, but also beware. It is way too easy for one thing to lead to another and many of the followers of these people are confused and brainwashed and truly believe what they have been told over and over. Just remember not to stoop to their level and do it with love and patience.
 
Some of you are doing the very thing you accuse Jack Chick of…only you are making it very personal. If you think it is garbage, which you do, then praying for such a one as Jack Chick would be the appropriate Christian response. I know I saw some prayers here and that is great if they are sincere. I’m just pointing out an observation.

A person’s faith is a very personal thing. Prayers are the appropriate action for these people until they insite a crime and Chick Productions provide a significant amount of material used in real hate crimes that lead to more serious crimes i.e. assault, arson, etc… And I have seen it happen. Throw the garbage away but don’t fool yourself into thinking that will be the end of it. These people may be relatively few in comparison to the “Good” Protestants who act like Christians, but they get around and some can be really dangerous.
 
This is very sad. The idea that St. Paul was really saying you can be “born again” and presume yourself saved is particularly wonky. It divorces one part of scripture from the greater context of the faith.

Pray for him.
 
I like to wonder about the comics he’s produce if he converted.
