Is there a forum on Jack’s latest rants? The last few weeks Jack has been accusing Origen and St. Augustine in removing words from the books; accusing (?) cathollics with not teaching about rapture and then using the catechism to show prove otherwise and then claim that he was right all along!

why do you even give this man attention? he is (to quote a theology professor of mine) a nutball.

as that great theologian Bugius Bunnyius said “what a maaroon.”

TBN the insane asslyum for us protestants. Finny look what you have done to us! :o

Poor Jack - I’ve caught his program a few times over the years. He’s been wrong on all counts - and has made millions off of it! His wife is a looker, though. 😉

ouch that’s the first time i’ve ever known anyone refer to her as a looker. maybe 40 years ago but i’ve got a feeling that you take off the wig and the 16 lbs of makeup and you’ve got a barker there.

i have watched the impe’s for many years, and yes they are kooks, but he is one of the few tv kooks who actually seems to admire the Catholic Church, and often has good things to say about us. there have been times when it seemed to me like he was so proCatholic that he might could convert someday.

he apparently has memorized the entire bible and can quote directly from it easily with verse numbers and all, which he makes somethng of a show of during the programs. if he ever converts he may have to start over with the NAB or Douay. maybe that is what is holding him back.

I used to listen to Jack on the radio back in the 70’s (he was extremely anti-Catholic back then) and later watched his TV show off and on. After I got into the bible about 20 years ago, I started looking up his “quotes from memory” as I watched. I found that he is very frequently wrong, his quotes are very slanted paraphrases with added words and meanings opposite the cited text, and generally his chapter & verse citations have little or nothing to do with what he quotes.

All show, no blow.

I agree that Rexella was hot in her younger days.

Hey hey hey now - regardless of what you may think if the man’s theology, that is his wife you are talking about. Have a little respect.

i do respect them both. i was the only one, or at least the first one, who offered any defense of them at all. I merely pointed out that i disagree with an assessment of the lady as good looking, i don’t think she is. she needs a huge amount of makeover to even be presentable on screen. so what? being ugly isn’t a crime, I’m ugly, and I’m proud of it. I don’t wear no wig to make poeple think I’m not ugly. I mean no insult by saying the lady is ugly, it is merely an observable fact, which is heavily dosed by opinion. besides, she claims to be a DR so somewhere along the line she got herslef a PhD, so she shouldn’t need to play foil to her fading memory husband, she should stand on her own academic credentials, take off the wig, and be proud.

but i’ll tell you i think the real weird guy is thier announcer. man that guy is strhange looking. but heck they must make a lot of money doing their act. they’ve been at it a long time, and as far as i know they are an independent act, not associated with any particular denomination.

I dont care if Jack and Rexella aren’t Catholic…

I just added an extra 500 years to my purgatory time just by reading these posts. :rotfl:

My Baptist grandmother just loves the Impes. She had a crush on Jack back in the day.

I remember watching a program several years ago on the INSP network where Jack Van Impe was a guest. I was shocked when he pulled out a Catechism and started quoting from it:eek: The hosts (who I believe are the founders of that network) looked shocked! One of them eventually said something along the lines of “we can find truth in that book without having to agree with all that it has to say.” :rotfl:

Oh, it was very respectful. I mean, Liza, c’mon, what would you rather have a guy say to you - that you have a face that would stop a clock or a profile that makes time stand still? 😛

I would much prefer he treated my like a lady, regardless of what I looked like. I don’t see that happening here for Mrs. Impe.

for a long time I thought they were sevetnth day adventists, not sure why. something about their presentation struck that chord in me. a few months ago i decided to check it out and was surprised to find out they come out of a plain fundamentalism strain but toned down the rhetoric as time went by. He has been known to set the date for endofworld several times. here’s a short wiki article about the van impes:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Van_Impe

he went to a bible college after high school. as a child he played accordion for his father who was an itinerant preacher, and has recorded some music with rexella, who has a history playing organ with the billy graham organization. rexella was born in 1932, which means she is now 76(!!!). wow, she sure looks a lot younger than that. do you think it is a natural? i mean, take a look at Mother Angelica before she stopped doing her TV program, now THERE is a real woman.

Yeah, I would not hold my breath for Jack to convert, but, I would sure pray hard, for it is going to take Jesus knocking him off his donkey to get him to see what he can not admit today about Catholicism.

He is making millions off of his books, and off of his fear and trembling that he preaches concerning the Rapture. When he teaches, you can hear the rants against the church, though he often disguises them by not naming us directly. That is how he gets Catholics, by making them think he is pro catholic.

He is a wolf. No question. A very bright, very concerned, and perhaps misguided wolf none the less.

Thanks for the posts!

I watch Jack more for the laughs than his so-called theology. Are there any catholic “watch” groups ( excuse the pun) that monitor the ilk these types spew?

Anyways, I never could understand the format - Rexella reading ‘news’ clips about death and destruction and then Jack ( looking like he’s high on super crack or something) praising the suffering as proof that Christ’s return is near!

Has anyone checked out his last offering about the year 2012? Amazing that such a bible-thumper as Jack would use a program shown on the History Channel as a basis for his end-time blather.

Again, thanks! the posts make my day! :😃

Well he shouldn’t speak against members of The Bride of Christ should he? 😃

The problem is some people watch Jack because they think he’s informative.

I won’t watch him for that reason.

same people probly who would pick up The Plain Truth at the supermarket (back before WWCG went defunct) and actually READ it and actually think they were getting plain truth.

anyways I watched Jack and rexaella only three or four days ago, and studied rexella closely, as she is featured in many very closeup camera shots. I’ve got to say for 76 years old that woman looks amazing. either good genetics or the work of many great surgeons!

I don’t know why you think it’s defunct – I picked up a " Plain Truth" edition back in February.

Anyone in the blog world ever picked up ( or know of one that has) any of his offerings? His constant allusions to Origen and Ambrose influencing St. Augustine’s removal of the word ‘Israel’ is still coming up (btw, if they were removed in Augustine’s time, how would he know from reading his KJV?)

But then again, St. Jerome is his buddy and Rexella still can’t read a news headline correctly

Yeah, I don’t know who is buddy buddy with who, but, they both seem to be pandering to either uneducated or miseducated Christians.

It is really too bad that Jack has not yet found his way to a Catholic Conversion (Lord are you listening?) because he could be soooo effective for Christ if only he had the fullness of truth behind his words.
