The crazy people who shoot Indians or Middle Easterners are evil. But it’s a lot more dangerous to be a Christian in India or the Middle East than to be an Indian or Middle Easterner in America.
No question about that. But that still doesn’t absolve the US in its need to tone down rhetoric against Middle Easterners and others.

If you count hate crimes only that may be true. But if you include all crimes, I am not so sure. Do you have numbers?
Re all crimes, India is lower than US, tho North India is about the same in violence. I imagine Middle Eastern countries are quite low, since the punishments there are rather harsh.

Also I think the corruption is higher in India, where everyone takes bribes. Even nuns running Catholic schools. They call them “donations” (which are very high and on top of fees and make it impossible for poor children to attend), but since they are mandatory for admission, they are really bribes.

I think a lot of post-colonial developing nations have more corruption than what you find in the US, but I don’t have any sources for that.

What we have is “legal corruption.” That is various industries fund election campaigns, then the elected officials make decisions that favor those industries, making it easier for them to make further donations. That goes for both Republicans and Democrats, tho I think it goes more for Republicans, which is generally the party of business interests.

I don’t mind people criticizing the U.S. for something legitimately wrong, but I doubt very much we’re the most corrupt country in the world. There are organizations that compile lists of these things and I’ve never seen the U.S. appear high on those lists. Usually places that are very poor or run by totalitarian governments (PRC, cough, cough) are at the top of those lists.

Jackie Chan took the path of least resistance.

He criticizes the US, nothing happens to him, but if he criticizes China, he’ll be hauled off to re-education camp. He’s just being a good little Communist.

I remembered what happened to a KPop star who posted a picture with the Taiwanese flag in the background. Made sense as she is from Taiwan. China raised such an outcry that she was forced to apologize publicly.
