Jackson in talks to set late Pope's prayers to music

What a bad idea! For the sake of the Church, I hope this is just a horrible rumor…

Very odd story.

Where would Michael Jackson rank in the annals of sacred music…behind chant but ahead of polyphony?
 
Look, we’re getting out of a pretty dark era with the whole crisis we went through, the last thing I want is Michael Jackson, of all people, singing our beloved late Pontiff’s prayers. That could be a PR nightmare.

Please…anyone but him…ANYONE. I’d rather have Ozzie Osborne sing the Pope’s prayers than that guy…

For some reason I see the late night show hosts having a field day of jokes on this piece of news.

While I am no fan of Jackson, let’s not be too quick to judge. This may be a conversion from God intended to bring him and maybe others to the Lord.

Let’s not forget that Paul persecuted the Catholic faith, until God decided to use this enemy of the Church to bring the message of the Gospels to the gentiles.

Perhaps someone ought to alert the pr department in Rome that this isn’t exactly a good time for the Church to associate itself with a forty year old man who has slumber parties with little boys, shows them pornography, and gives them “Jesus juice”

Talk about putting a gigantic “KICK ME” sign on your own back!

They haven’t been associated with underage slumber parties.
Again…considering that our Church is recovering from a scandal - do we REALLY want a man like Michael Jackson associated with JPII’s prayers?

I keep hearing the liberal comments of “The Church is behind the times.” With respect to this, they may just be right.

You could be right they must still think Jacskon is hot off his Thriller albulm and its 1981 all over again. Michael is irrelevant as musical artist as well the problematic scandals he is associated with. This is not a good idea no matter what angle one could take. Surely there are other artist more worthy of the honor to sign the late Pope’s prayers. Andrea Bocceli or Josh Groban are more rellevant to the music scene does the churc know that such talented artist exist. Oh I forgot they have cropped up since the 1980’s. Yes the church really does need to catch up on the music scene. Considering Andrea is a practicing catholic, that would be a naturual fit. Both of these guys are hot in the music scnene and best sellers in the music charts.
I am sure if well done a project involving these men would sell well and avoid the church associated with more scandal. THis idea with Jackson is so bad its like a bad Jack Chick joke but its err reality.
Scary indeed. I heard Jackson has cooled on the idea since the leak went public I hope the talks go ice cold from here and the project is offered to someone else. Consdiering Jackson was a Jehovah’s witness and is supposed to be close to becoming a Muslim Convert, it doesn’t make any sense for him to be doing it and from the Vatican’s view point I have no idea what they are thinking but they appear to be in a time bubble.
 
I wonder what the Apostles were thinking when they let Paul join their number. After all, he was well know for murdering and persecuting the followers of Christ.

I say again, it is not for us to judge. This may be a stunt or it may be God’s way of bring Jackson, or maybe some others throught Jackson, to the faith.

Didn’t the people say the same thing when Jesus ate and drank and associated with sinners?

And who did Jesus appear to first after He rose from the dead? To one of the eleven or to a former prosititute?
 
Michael Jackson?:confused: :nope: Was that their first choice:eek: ? That is just weird . A really bad idea. What about a beautiful voice like Andrea Bocelli? How about Josh Groban? Charlotte Church? I am really stunned with this one.
 
Sir Knight, why are you defending Michael Jackson? This is clearly a matter of money and power. Jackson has plenty of money to buy the rights to the late Pope’s work, not unlike he bought the rights to other well known artists (was it the Beetles or Elvis Presley?). These priests are shortsighted and greedy, moreover, they try to appear progressive by embracing the likes of Michael Jackson. Instead, they are spineless, power-hungry men who need to get on their knees and ask the Holy Spirit to guide them. Do they believe that the Pope’s sublime work won’t get the exposure it deserves unless a internationally known pervert’s name is attached to it? Thank God this news was leaked before any contracts were signed. Is there anyone to send a protest of this matter to?
 
Lately, I’ve been less critical of people and more willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Past few months, I’ve taken on the role of an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist bring communion to the sick and homebound. Feeling unworthy to distribute the Body of Christ, I have made it a point to go to confession immediately (the morning of) before distributing communion.

This frequent attendence at confession has made me see things in a different light. Christ came to call sinners and He died for all of our sins. When we walk out of the confessional, the slate is wiped clean. If God can do this for us, who are we to hold a past sin, a past fault, a past failing against someone else? Especially, when we ourselves are imperfect.
