James 5:16 the prayers of a righteousness person avails much success.

What do you do to have your prayers be successful?
How do you pray so it is successful?

Some commentators say it is sincerely righteous not absolutely righteous.

It can mean to pray sincerely, pray with your heart. Usually a person who does that is one who believes and humble. Pray with faith.

It is difficult to say what a successful prayer is. I think generally people agree that a prayer is successful if what is asked is granted.

There is always a caveat to that - there are prayers not granted simply because they are not according to the will of God.

I would say, pray sincerely and with your heart and believe that God hears your prayer. Whether He grants it or not, it entirely depends on God’s will, which we cannot decide for God.

Our role is to believe that God hears our prayer, and since He is a loving God, he will do what is for our own good, as a father does to his child.

It does logically follow, though, from James 5:16 though.

No one is more righteous than Mary. To ask for her intercession is a smart move on your part. That is the rationale for why I said one ought to pray to her, or ask her intercession, more precisely.
 
What I have learned is the most complete abandonment of self to the will of God that is humanly possible. Submission and resignation that allows one to be delighted both when prayers are answered in the affirmative, as well as in the negative - understanding that God’s will must prevail for ultimate good to be achieved.

James writes that we do not receive what we pray for because we ask amiss. Abandonment, submission and resignation.
