Jealous at a friend's wedding

Don’t know if this helps, but I spent many years in the same situation, convinced that I’d never find a wife, and getting demolished over and over as friends (and ex-girlfriends) got married. It’s one thing to be lonesome at 20, but 20 becomes 25, then 25 becomes 30 … I was convinced that I was a word without a rhyme (yes, that’s a stolen Ronnie James Dio lyric). As it turned out, I didn’t even meet the woman who is now my wife until I was 34 and she was 33. Even then it took another four years for us to find our way to the altar. Now we’re married with an awesome boy and our second child on the way.

I wouldn’t change it. I’d rather be married to my Sweet Girl with a Heart of Gold, despite the incredibly long and gruelling wait, than to have settled for someone else earlier in life.

Don’t settle, and don’t give up.

I want to throw her a party for celebrating being single!
.
Here’s a question. Do you know any of the people who’s weddings she’s had to go to? Would it be possible to rally the troops and take her out for a nice dinner and buy her some flowers and a gift? Make it a Youre a fabulous girl and we have your back dinner?

Between the years of 2006 through 2009 I will be going to at least 13 weddings, and be in 7 more. That’s 20 weddings in 3 years. I have one single friend left, Aside from being highly expensive, it is a little depressing to not be engaged or married. (Although, if my boyfriend doesn;'t propose to me by 2009 II’m going to pluck his eyebrows out while he’s sleeping. 7 years of dating is along time. I have logged my time, I have sacrificed, GIMME THE DARN RING, I’ve earned it 😃 ) It gets lonely as your girls slowly dwindle down until it feels like the last episode of Survivor )the tribe has spoken, and you are DOOOOOOOOOMED to be single forever), it’s gotten to the point where my friend has told me that not only does my boyfriend have to ask my dad for permission, he also has to ask her so she can be psychologically prepared.

I’m not sure if this is the right forum at all.
My friend is getting married in less than a month, and I am very happy for her. But I also feel jealous and sad too. I just can’t help but think about how unlikely it seems that I will ever get married. What do I do?
Envy is one of the 7 capital sins. ( deadly sins ) i would go to confession, and not go there again.

Be happy for her and move on. your turn will come. offer it up to Jesus.

Hey OldAgeGuru,

Have you hinted hard at your boyfriend? I am sure he will propose soon. Glad you have a man you want to be with forever - that is awesome!

As for the friend, I know lots of of the people whose weddings my friend went to. Mostly all mutual. I really have to put my words into action. I really do need to plan a party for her.

I have set her up with a few friends but it doesn’t work out. I have to admit this friend of mine is extremely picky with men (which is fine, you should be picky). But she is paranoid of many things and takes a lot of what people have to say in a hurtful way.

Plus when you set someone up with someone you know, and it doesn’t work out at all, I feel partially responsible! hah.

Oh I’ve hinted. In private, In public. He knows. I think he’s just enjoying finally having the upper hand for once.
