I’ll ask you again what it is that you are trying to claim? What is it that you feel you are owed that is denied to you? Do you not have food to eat, water to drink, clothes to wear?
Reread what the OP posted.

No matter how you put it, you can’t sue God and no one has legitimate beef with God. 😉 People have legitimate desires for sure, but the reason why those are not fulfilled is never that God is supposedly not good or loving enough. Those “pray and don’t worry” pieces of advice aren’t actually bad - life experience confirms those. I understand why someone might feel bad after receiving advice to focus more on the spiritual when he complains about being single. Same way as when someone is hungry, you don’t tell him to get quiet and pray (not like anyone dies from being single, as opposed to being hungry).

By the way, I’ve been to a wedding today. The pain of certain thoughts was physical enough to meddle with vision and send my post-surgical facial nerves on a holiday on my way back home. Still, I don’t feel entitled and I don’t feel God owes me anything. In fact, I have two eyes, two ears, two legs, two hands, I can speak, I have some skills to earn a living with, there’s no war, I don’t have to fight a street gang for survival, I have a family. There are so many people who don’t have all these things and we generally learn to thank for those when we get a feel of how it is without them.

Please reread what I said or get a refund on your English courses. I clearly stated it was how we react.

I teach English, darling, and you could get a manners course before your next date.
First, I am not your “darling”.

Second, more important than “manners” is to read what a person actually wrote and not try to imply that another poster posted something they didn’t. I repeatedly stated what I was getting at, but you kept regurgitatng the same thing over again as though what I stated went in one ear and out the other without making a pit stop in the middle.

Love you too. You’re making the ruinous mistake of skipping the “first” and focusing on those things which will be added if you seek the Kingdom of God and its righteousness first, invalidating the result by removing the premise, and that *ad hominem *wasn’t quality goods.

*What’s this thread about again? 🍿 😛

My thoughts—> jealousy plain and simple, is a close cousin of fear. When we are envious of another, we deep down ‘‘fear’’ that we won’t ‘‘have’’ what he/she has…could be a relationship, a thing, a house, a job…whatever it might be. It’s really fear that causes the pit in our stomach…So, to milletsmo, remember what Christ told His followers, tells us, about fear. Do not be afraid. Note, this was recorded the MOST times in the Bible. Think it might be important for us to ‘‘get?’’ I think so! 😉

Don’t be afraid that you won’t meet the right person, someday. Or that immoral people seem to be getting what they ‘‘want.’’ But, when we put our wants before God’s wants…we do not get God’s best. YOU are waiting on God’s best…your friends are settling. Just remember that, when you are feeling this way. Remember, waiting on God always pays off…never disappoints. I will keep you in my prayers…:hug1:*

Okay, I’m gonna say it.

Norseman, in the Kingdom of God repentant sinners are forgiven and welcomed with all the love God has to give. He died for them, after all. He didn’t come to save the Perfect.

Seek to be fit to dwell in THAT kingdom (not some fantasy kingdom where no one but you has ever sinned) and maybe good things will be added to you.

No one has a beef with God. God owes none of us anything. at all.

Our problem is we are seeking to fill a God-sized hole in our hearts and souls with people. And things.

Ain’t gonna happen.

That’s why no one is ever satisfied no matter what they have in life. They always want the next thing. As if that will finally top off the tank.

No, the prodigal son’s brother didn’t have a legitimate beef. He has the whole farm and his inheritance still intact and he’s complaining over one goat? The father didn’t give him grief. He just reminded him that everything he had was his. And his brother was dead but had returned. But note, Jesus didn’t say “And the father went and killed another goat and threw his brother a party too.”

Because the older son missed the entire point. Instead of rejoicing that his brother was back and seeing his father’s grief turn to joy over the return of his lost son, all he could do was complain that he didn’t get his own spotless little goat.

He really didn’t care about the Father that much did he? Did he cry tears with his father over the lost brother? Did he seek to make up for the missing son? He did the work. But was his heart in it? Not apparently. Or the return of the lost son would have made him happy, if only because it dried his father’s tears.

He would have been there to run out and embrace his brother. Why wasn’t he standing with the father and running out with him? Did he see the lonely old man waiting every day looking out on the horizon hoping for the approach of his son? Did he join him and keep him company?

Yeah, we’re talking about God the Father also. Are we really happy like Jesus said, who said there is more rejoicing in heaven over the return of one sinner than over the 99 who never left? Do we welcome them back? Or do we grouse and say “where’s mine?” and complain at the Father that we have a legitimate beef. And then remind the sinner that we were better than them all along and throw their sin in their face for the rest of their life.

Sins against chastity are bad. Sins against charity are worse.

Many of us on CAF know we’re not perfect. So maybe tha’ts why there is a tendency to give people grief over what they imagine to be legitimate beefs.

Those who have really felt the loving forgiveness of God in our lives would never deny that to another and would never presume to be better than God by continuing to reject that person. We’d see that person with the love that God sees them.

Just another point of view, Norseman. Since you seem to be pretty harsh with people who don’t agree with you and are annoyed that we don’t share your “legitimate beef”.

There’s a correction to be made here, a BIG distinction between jealousy and envy. They are not synonymous.

Jealousy is an immediate feeling/reaction. Envy is the wishing harm/sadness/etc for the person you are jealous of. 2 very distinct things.

Jealousy as a reaction comes less and less when one grows in maturity in faith, emotions, and perfection of interior life. Recognizing it as a temptation and working on it is a good thing. (Same as temptation to lust, etc). Let’s remember that God is a jealous God. Wishing something for yourself, especially a good, may be the result of your inner desire and longings. The fact that another person is achieving it first reminds one of it doesn’t necessarily make it bad.

Envy is the sinful action/thought. This is a result of stewing over jealousy and/or self pity.
Thank you for your post.
I know there is a difference between jealousy and envy but I still feel bad for feeling jealous sometimes.
I would never wish harm on anyone and I would never wish this pain on anyone as it hurts so much more than anything I have ever experienced or could ever imagine. Having said that in my darkest times I do sometimes question why I am suffering this pain rather than someone else (no one specific and again I’m not wishing it on them etc).
I am trying my best to be strong but I feel like the more time that passes the more heartbroken I become. I keep praying but I’m not sure if it’s working yet. 😦

Thank you for your reply.
I don’t fear not meeting the right person, I fear that I will not get with him again because I feel like I have already met and love the right person for me.
Now I know this will cause some kind of backlash of people telling me he broke up with me so hes obviously not the right one, or he is depressed therefore I need to give up on him etc.
I fear his depression because we’re not really talking at the moment (and even when we do its on the internet so it’s easy to hide true feelings) so I have no idea how big of a hold it has on his life. I fear I will never get back the man I know and love. I fear that this pain will never heal. Please don’t tell me in time it will get easier because I swear it just gets harder and harder.
I am sick of crying constantly. I am sick of wishing I could either rewind of fast forward time. I am trying to enjoy my life now and live day by day but it is so hard and so painful.
I know in some time we will at the very least be friends again but I wish it could happen now.
He is my best friend and I have few close friends, especially who are near to me or I can talk to often so I feel so lonely. I don’t want to upset my friends so I feel like I also have to hide my true feelings otherwise I will be a big downer for everyone. I have lost friends before due to being depressed when I was younger so I know if I express how sad I am people will leave me.
I keep praying for God to heal me but He obviously doesn’t think it is the right time to do so yet.
Thank you again for the prayers

I know how you feel milletsmo. I’m sick of waiting to see if life was all worth it. A couple weeks ago I was a maid of honor at a friend’s wedding. And I couldn’t stop crying, at least at a wedding people assume you are crying happy tears. I was crying because I am the last single friend. I want to fast-forward through this part and get to the good stuff. That’s what I do for TV shows and movies. 😛

*Oh wow, I didn’t make the connection, between your prior posts about your situation with your friend, and this thread…I’m sorry! 😊 I know that this must be hard for you, I have you in my prayers…praying your load gets a little lighter, and that you will continue to follow whatever the Lord has in store for you. :console: *

Thank you, I’m really grateful.
I’m jealous of those who are friends with him at the moment, especially certain people who were more my friend before the break up and now after have seemed to stop wanting to be friends with me and start going out drinking etc with him (they are girls as well which makes it harder to deal with).
I’m scared incase he gets with any of these supposed “friends” and scared incase he is never my friend again.
It is nearly my birthday and I’m also scared incase he won’t even contact me - I’m trying not to think about it to avoid getting my hopes up/getting upset but I keep praying he will not only contact me but he will ask for me back. I know I shouldn’t be praying for this I should just be praying for God’s will to occur and for whatever He plans to play out sooner rather than later but I can’t help it.
I’m also really scared incase my ex does want me back but doesn’t say anything due to his depression and/or pride. I really hope he can overcome his problems so we can at least remain friends as I really miss my best friend and can’t imagine not having him in my life at all.
Thank you for the prayers.

Thank you for the prayers.

I have a question.

I have had a real tough day yesterday and prayed to God and Mary and my Nana who is (hopefully!) in heaven. I asked for some kind of sign or something for me to know things would be alright.

Several hours later I was on fb chat and my old psychology lecturer was online (she was a student lecturer when she taught me and we were a “mature students” class so we all became friends) anyways we hadn’t spoke for at least 2 years and I really felt like she’d be able to help either by giving me some understanding on depression etc or something. she asked me how I was doing etc and I explained about our break up.
She told me she went through something almost identical as my ex, breaking up with her partner due to being depressed and stressed out etc she one day snapped saying she wasnt in love any more even though she was she was just confused and trying to protect her partner etc. She said it took her 5 months to sort things out but they are now engaged!
She is the second person who I hadn’t spoke to for a while and randomly spoke to again who has went through something similar and ended up engaged.
Do you think this could be the sign? I do!
Today is the first morning that I have woke up and not cried. It is still really hard but I am trying my best to stay positive and am trusting in God for giving me this sign.

I can easily see depression causing that kind of result. I think stress, lack of sleep, adrenaline and the whole thing with being a very important and very busy person can make one forget human feelings. And sometimes people say various things to be left alone. Some do think they’re shielding their partners. Don’t know about your girl, but don’t you worry so much about her. She’s an adult.

Don’t feel so bad hon!! I remember getting my heart broken even after our separation from my exhusband and saw him parading himself around with other women I was like “what do they see in him he’s an ***!!! How could he make them happy and he wasn’t willing to love me?” You feel overwhelmed, powerless, frustrated, angry, depressed, and hurt…And of course jealous…Why!!! right!! But don’t be afraid those feelings are all normal…the uncertainty that gets us you know?!

Pray, do lots of praying! LOTS! I am trying to pray lots! Like with everything hurtful or painful-we must find something good and positive out of it…We must try to keep ourselves busy-play sports, exercise more, sing, dance, spend time with your friends, family, play video games, read more books, watch some discovery channel…you know?! Do stuff that will keep your mind busy…and away from the feelings you have…You will heal it just takes some time…

Good luck and GOD bless!

What those girls don’t know is he has attracting power, but he doesn’t have staying power. That’s what you need for a lifetime relationship.
