Number Five.
True Christians are no part of the world.

When Jesus was before the political leader Pontius Pilate Jesus said: “My Kingdom is no part of this world.” (John 18:36.) In 17:16 he said his followers were likewise no part of the world.

True Christians are subjects of Jesus Kingdom and thus maintain strict neutrality in the world’s political affairs. No wonder, check out in Luke 4:5,6 who has control of the political powers!

Rule out all religions that meddle in politics. They are not following Christ.

We are in the world, but not of it! That doesn’t mean a real rock in the head in this world is not going to hurt!

We are not of this world because we strive for the next!..the supernatural one where God dwells! But it doesn’t mean we sit around praying and waiting for death. Life is the breath of God and is a gift. Before the fall of Adam, is where we want to return. The Kingdom of Heaven is, by and large, still a mystery, ACCEPT where Christ describes it and His promise to those who follow Him and persevere until He returns!

Number Six.
Jesus true followers preach God’s Kingdom as mankind’s only hope.

The second statement in the Our Father prayer is “Let your Kingdom come.” (second only to his Fathers name being glorified)
Jesus said “the good news of this Kingdom would be preached in all the inhabited earth” before the end. (Matt. 24:14.)
Why was it good news? Because it would put an end to all the human governments. (Daniel 2:44.) No wonder Jesus wanted his followers to be no part of them!

Yet many religions seldom mention the Kingdom. Instead promote human governments, alliances and organisations (of Satan’s world) as the hope for world peace.
They are not following Christ

Satan may have his lot in this world, but God is the Creator of it all and is still God over this world! Do you think He has NO AUTHORITY here? Or perhaps He has NO POWER here?

He MADE IT ALL! Do you think He just created everything and then made and left Satan to rule over it? Do you think God is no longer here? Of course not!

But this world and everything in it will pass, and Satan knows it!

True Christians proclaim Christ and the hope within us of His Promise. But as St Paul says, we are *to work out our salvation with fear and trembling *… because ‘Satan’ will always be snapping at our feet to turn us from Christ.

Just like he has been doing to His Church for the past millenias.

Wow there are some intelligent answers there. You guys really know your stuff. below are what I understand to be the identifying marks. I have devided them up so easier for people to quote or coment on. there are six. I hope that’s not too much.

Identifying mark of Christians Number One:
Christians base their teachings on the Bible.

“All scripture is inspired by God…” 2 Timothy 3:16.
Jesus believed this. He said in prayer to his father: “Thy word is truth.”
He also constantly quoted the scriptures to support and prove his teachings.
So true Christians, as followers of Christ would do the same. Base their teachings on God’s word.
They would not base their beliefs and practices on human philosophies or traditions.

What is God’s word according to you? Why Paul wrote 2 Tes 2:15?

Identifying mark of Christians number two:
Would worship only Jehovah and make his name known.

The first line of the “Our father” prayer says: “Our father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.”
Psalms 83:18 says “…thou who’s name alone is Jehovah, art the Most High over all the earth.” (King James translation.)

The distinct, personal name of God appears about 7000 times in the original languages of the scriptures. The most common English rendering is “Jehovah”.
Most English Bibles replace it with the titles “LORD” or “GOD” using various excuses to do this. If Jesus thought it so important, would he want Christians to remove it from the Bible?
Many religious people, when you ask what God’s name is say “God” or even, “Jesus”.
Some say “It’s Jehovah. - But we don’t think it’s important because…”

You are wrong. In the OT, original names of God according to the ancient Israelite were Elohim, El Shadday, Adonai, YHWH. Show me the targum of the hebrew saying YHWH = Jehovah.

Number three:
True Christians show genuine love.

‘Excaliber’ picked this one and quoted the Bible to prove it.
Jesus said “By this all will know you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.” (John 13:35.)
Most religions say they show love, and site loving things they do. But there is something that sorts out the true from the false.

1 John 3:10-12 says: “By this may be seen who are the children of God and the children of the devil: whoever does not do right is not of God, nor he who does not love his brother. … Be not like Cain who was of the evil one and murdered his brother…”
So you can rule out any religion that goes to war. They are not following Christ, so it follows they are not Christian.
During the world wars, almost all religions took up arms, often at the encouragement of their clergy. And slaughtered each other by the millions. Often killing people of the exact same religion, who geography happened to have put on the other side.
The same religion! Satan must have been laughing with glee.

Many Catholics has shown this Genuine Love, naming Mother Theresa as the latest. Name one JW who shows Genuine Love for me please?

Number Four.
True Christians accept Jesus Christ as God’s means of salvation.

Acts 4;12 says: “There is no salvation in anyone else, for there is not another name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must get saved.”
Jesus gave his life as a ransom for obedient humans. (Matt 20:28)
He is the appointed King in the heavenly Kingdom that will rule over the earth.
God requires we obey Jesus if we want everlasting life. (John 3:36)

You are correct. The true way to salvation is Jesus, not the Watch Tower Society.

As a former JW, I can assure you LOVE is not one their strong suits - maybe if you are a tow the line, JW and maybe not even then. I was ostracized by my so-called brothers and sisters in the JW congregation for the simple reason I went to college! I was an auxiallary pioneer, yet I was continually looked down upon for my involved ‘in the world’ via furthering my education because I didn’t want to clean houses for the rest of my life.
One the reasons I was probable pulled-in so much by the LDS was they are all about the love. and that’s a different topic alltogether

of all the hoaky religions in the world, the JWs hold a special place in my heart. its a constant wonder to me how anyone could join a absolutly insane organization as JW is completly beyond me. ive known some JWs as friends. but they were thick as bricks. no kidding. wide is the path to desruction and many there be upon

For Jehovah’s witnesses, I think they feel they have know place else to go.

Just like Catholics canot leave the Church because its the only place that has the real presence.

For Jehovah’s witnesses there Eucharist is the preaching work.
They feel that know other religious group is preaching from door to door as good as they are.
And because of that they feel that its OBViOUSLY them that is the true church.

They are soooooo sure that they are the true church that almost EVERY member will go out and publicly knock on doors…dose that not show confidence?

That’s also because it is a requirement of their salvation. In addition, one could add, the more they fill up their time, the less time they have to think for themselves. This is one charge leveled by critics of the witnesses that lead them to believe that it is a cult.

From my own personal experience, I remember that when my Mother and Father did not go door to door, this was used against them when they were disfellowshiped from the witnesses, in addition to other things. My mother was never really taken in by them anyway. At bible studies, my Mother, who is relatively undereducated, was easily stumping the leaders with basic questions about the bible. For having questions-- she was scolded.

Our family (even when involved) was considered “dirty” and “untouchable”. Witness family members would not come to our house, or even come to the hospital when my sister was born. Contact was limited and, in some cases, broken off all together.

To all: Please don’t ignore the posts here by people who have critical things to say about the Witnesses. There is a lot of truth to what they have to say. I can attest to that personally. They have destroyed my family-- and even if they hadn’t destroyed my family, the assault of Witness theology on my mind would surely have driven me far away from them. It’s truely manipulative, deceptive, and proven harmful to many people around the world.

I personaly don’t buy the conspiracy theory, that the watchtower organization is keeping members buisy to stop them from thinking.

I don’t doubt that those bad things
happened to you, but I don’t think it was done intentionally.

This organization CAN BE dangerous. Especially if someone finds out that they are not THE True church, and that person openly attacks the group in some way.
That only gets you disfellowshiped and turns everyone against you.

The organization is very dangerous if attacked directly…I hope people realize this before there families get torn apart.

hey, rite on. i got chased out of a JW church. i sat thru the sermon, then i caught the pastor or what ever, in the lobby and told him he misquoted the bible. so him and some other goon chased me rite out the front door. they are pure evil. it absolutely amazes me how ANYONE would join that maddness

you have to understand that there
is a cultural difference within christianity. what’s ok in one church may not be ok in another.

questioning watchtower is not ok for Jehovah’s witnesses.Catholics are different in that some can question the pope himself and suffer no counter action from the church.

Jehovah’s witnesses are not that way.

I agree. He probably told an elder what he was doing and was told not to come back. They won’t come to my house either after I show them in THEIR bible were Jesus was worshipped!
