I will never refer to God as Jehovah because that is not his name. “Jehovah” is the result of a misreading of the Hebrew text into which vowels were inserted by the Massoretes. It’s a mistake. Any Bible scholar can tell you that.
Even the watchtower has admited that too,

Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures published by the Watchtower Society? On page 23 of the 1969 edition, it says:

“While inclining to view the pronunciation ‘Yahweh’ as the more correct way, we have retained the form ‘Jehovah’ because of people’s familiarity with it since the 14th century. Moreover, it preserves equally with other forms, the four letters of the Tetragrammaton JHVH.”

Another Watchtower publication, Aid to Bible Understanding, says on page 885 of its 1971 edition that

Yahweh is “the most likely pronunciation” of the Hebrew letters YHWH.

“Let Your Name Be Sanctified” freely admits on pages 16 and 18 that Yahweh is the superior translation of the Tetragrammaton. This book has lately been withdrawn.

Pfft read the bible mate.

his name in hebrew is YHWH or Yahweh which in english in Jehovah and it also says in the bible onyl 140000 are going to heaven come arrageddon not all of us because we will rain on earth for the 100 years when the devil is thrown into the abyss.

then after the 1000 years he will be released and then we will live forever when JEHOVAH kills him.

don’t believe me read the bible.
ROFL no Jehovah is not an English tranlation of Yahweh, thanks for the laugh and welcome.

I do have a question about your 144,000 thou

Revelation 14
1And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.

2And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:

3And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

4These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

5And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

Ok, do you believe that only 144,000 single male virgins are going to heaven?

The fact that they have not been defiled by women tells me they are men. The word virgins tells me they have never been married.
The fact that military protocol was used, that being 12,000 men from each tribe also tells me they are men. If they had been newly married they would be exempt from military service and thus would not be part of the 144,000.

I am someone who is reading the whole bible and studying it and no one can give me answers except the Jehovahs witnesses and why is it you can only date the catholic faith back to henry the 8th oh i know because he made catholic so he could have more wifes.
Ah, Henry the 8th started the Church of England ROFL, smile.]
Please go open some history books.

Here is a polite challenge for you, make a list of JW, watchtower theologies, go back to the church fathers writings from 90-300 and see if you can find those teachings there.

It is good to hear that you are reading the The deuterocanonical scriptures: Tobit, Judith, Additions to Esther (Vulgate Esther 10:4-16:24, but see also Esther in the NAB), Wisdom, Ben Sira, also called Sirach or Ecclesiasticus , Baruch, including the Letter of Jeremiah (Additions to Jeremiah in the Septuagint), Additions to Daniel: Song of the Three Children (Vulgate Daniel 3:24-90),
Story of Susanna (Vulgate Daniel 13, Septuagint prologue),
The Idol Bel and the Dragon (Vulgate Daniel 14, Septuagint epilogue), 1 Maccabees and 2 Maccabees.

Sorry Catholics date themselves back to the apostles,

Against Heresies (St. Irenaeus) Book III, Chapter 3

A refutation of the heretics, from the fact that, in the various Churches, a perpetual succession of bishops was kept up.
  1. It is within the power of all, therefore, in every Church, who may wish to see the truth, to contemplate clearly the tradition of the apostles manifested throughout the whole world; and we are in a position to reckon up those who were by the apostles instituted bishops in the Churches, and [to demonstrate] the succession of these men to our own times; those who neither taught nor knew of anything like what these [heretics] rave about. For if the apostles had known hidden mysteries, which they were in the habit of imparting to “the perfect” apart and privily from the rest, they would have delivered them especially to those to whom they were also committing the Churches themselves. For they were desirous that these men should be very perfect and blameless in all things, whom also they were leaving behind as their successors, delivering up their own place of government to these men; which men, if they discharged their functions honestly, would be a great boon [to the Church], but if they should fall away, the direst calamity.
  2. Since, however, it would be very tedious, in such a volume as this, to reckon up the successions of all the Churches, we do put to confusion all those who, in whatever manner, whether by an evil self-pleasing, by vainglory, or by blindness and perverse opinion, assemble in unauthorized meetings; [we do this, I say,] by indicating that tradition derived from the apostles, of the very great, the very ancient, and universally known Church founded and organized at Rome by the two most glorious apostles, Peter and Paul; as also [by pointing out] the faith preached to men, which comes down to our time by means of the successions of the bishops. For it is a matter of necessity that every Church should agree with this Church, on account of its pre- eminent authority, that is, the faithful everywhere, inasmuch as the apostolical tradition has been preserved continuously by those [faithful men] who exist everywhere.

continued,
  1. The blessed apostles, then, having founded and built up the Church, committed into the hands of Linus the office of the episcopate. Of this Linus, Paul makes mention in the Epistles to Timothy. To him succeeded Anacletus; and after him, in the third place from the apostles, Clement was allotted the bishopric. This man, as he had seen the blessed apostles, and had been conversant with them, might be said to have the preaching of the apostles still echoing [in his ears], and their traditions before his eyes. Nor was he alone [in this], for there were many still remaining who had received instructions from the apostles. In the time of this Clement, no small dissension having occurred among the brethren at Corinth, the Church in Rome despatched a most powerful letter to the Corinthians, exhorting them to peace, renewing their faith, and declaring the tradition which it had lately received from the apostles, proclaiming the one God, omnipotent, the Maker of heaven and earth, the Creator of man, who brought on the deluge, and called Abraham, who led the people from the land of Egypt, spoke with Moses, set forth the law, sent the prophets, and who has prepared fire for the devil and his angels. From this document, whosoever chooses to do so, may learn that He, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, was preached by the Churches, and may also understand the apostolical tradition of the Church, since this Epistle is of older date than these men who are now propagating falsehood, and who conjure into existence another god beyond the Creator and the Maker of all existing things. To this Clement there succeeded Evaristus. Alexander followed Evaristus; then, sixth from the apostles, Sixtus was appointed; after him, Telephorus, who was gloriously martyred; then Hyginus; after him, Pius; then after him, Anicetus. Soter having succeeded Anicetus, Eleutherius does now, in the twelfth place from the apostles, hold the inheritance of the episcopate. In this order, and by this succession, the ecclesiastical tradition from the apostles, and the preaching of the truth, have come down to us. And this is most abundant proof that there is one and the same vivifying faith, which has been preserved in the Church from the apostles until now, and handed down in truth.
  2. But Polycarp also was not only instructed by apostles, and conversed with many who had seen Christ, but was also, by apostles in Asia, appointed bishop of the Church in Smyrna, whom I also saw in my early youth, for he tarried [on earth] a very long time, and, when a very old man, gloriously and most nobly suffering martyrdom, departed this life, having always taught the things which he had learned from the apostles, and which the Church has handed down, and which alone are true. To these things all the Asiatic Churches testify, as do also those men who have succeeded Polycarp down to the present time,—a man who was of much greater weight, and a more steadfast witness of truth, than Valentinus, and Marcion, and the rest of the heretics. He it was who, coming to Rome in the time of Anicetus caused many to turn away from the aforesaid heretics to the Church of God, proclaiming that he had received this one and sole truth from the apostles,—that, namely, which is handed down by the Church. There are also those who heard from him that John, the disciple of the Lord, going to bathe at Ephesus, and perceiving Cerinthus within, rushed out of the bath-house without bathing, exclaiming, “Let us fly, lest even the bath-house fall down, because Cerinthus, the enemy of the truth, is within.” And Polycarp himself replied to Marcion, who met him on one occasion, and said, “Do you know me?” “I do know you, the first-born of Satan.” Such was the horror which the apostles and their disciples had against holding even verbal communication with any corrupters of the truth; as Paul also says, “A man that is an heretic, after the first and second admonition, reject; knowing that he that is such is subverted, and , being condemned of himself.” Titus 3:10 There is also a very powerful Epistle of Polycarp written to the Philippians, from which those who choose to do so, and are anxious about their salvation, can learn the character of his faith, and the preaching of the truth. Then, again, the Church in Ephesus, founded by Paul, and having John remaining among them permanently until the times of Trajan, is a true witness of the tradition of the apostles.

You simply don’t realize the word “prophet” is used by JW’s differently than you assume:

From the JW “Insight on the Scriptures”:

"The Greek pro·phe′tes literally means “a speaker out [Gr., pro, “before” or “in front of,” and phe·mi′, “say”]” and thus describes a proclaimer, one who makes known messages attributed to a divine source. (Compare Tit 1:12.) Though this includes the thought of a predictor of the future, the fundamental meaning of the word is not that of prediction. (Compare Jg 6:7-10.) "

“. … prediction, or foretelling, is not the basic thought conveyed by the root verbs in the original languages”

Thus, JW use the word “prophecy” interchangably with the word “preaching”… and the word “prophet” with “preacher”.

JW’s have overtly stated on many occassions they are not “inspired”, and not “inspired prophets”.

Your question is a common misunderstanding.
I thought you said, that you don’t represent the theology of the watchtower. At least now you are honestly quoting them, thats an improvement.

Yes Steve but remember also that the Greek προφήτης prophētēs is better translated as “foreteller” and is analogous to the Hebrew נביא nâbîy’ which is best translated as “inspired man” that is one who is under the authority of the Holy Spirit.

The Greek attempts to translate a word in the LXX for which there was no direct transliteration. However, this difficulty does not excuse misappropriation of the word to mean something else than one who speaks with God’s authority and with absolute inerrant infallability.
Although rejecting spiritism the WTS repeatedly used the writings, of a known spiritist Johannes Greber, as a scholarly support for their beliefs. The WTS was aware of Greber’s spiritistic connections from 1955 but continued to use his works until 1987 (particularly to support their incorrect translation of John 1:1) while at the same time denying that they were aware of Greber’s spiritistic practices! (Investigator No. 24, May 1992.) After being exposed for the use of Greber’s works the WTS apparently stopped using him.
WTS has however found another spirit medium in one John S. Thompson to support their John 1:1 translation! He is listed as an authority in the WTS’s Kingdom Interlinear Translation 1985 p. 1139-1140. Research in Thompson’s book, The Monotessaron, or The Gospel History, According to the Four Evangelists (1829) shows that his inspiration and direction came from the spirit world!
Why does the watchtower use spiritualists?

no 1914 was when satan the devil was cast out of heaven it also says this in the bible and after 1914 we have been in the lasts days because JEHOVAH is being patient because he wants us all to live forever.

It a minor point… Better to be a good Christian within the Chruch then sweat the small stuff.

Dear cascherman,

May be Jehovahwitness has seen posting #20 in thread “Yahweh vs Jehovah”, posted by RabbiAdamBernay. RabbiAdam argued that in Hebrew Jehovah can be interpreted as “God is Destroyed”. Please go to the posting.

the word Jehovah, yes, I have heard that too. But the word Yahweh is God’s name.

mmmmk, what does this mean for this guy not coming back? That argument hasn’t stopped them before.

Henry VIII founded the Anglican Church, NOT the Catholic Church. Don’t believe me? Read your English History.

No, they’re definitely getting weirder…When Henry VIII is:eek: starting the Catholic Church :ouch: ], things are really, really, really:whacky: weird!!!
As a history major, I nearly passed out when I read that! :bigyikes: :whacky: :rotfl: :banghead: :ouch:

Next they’ll be telling us that King George started the Catholic Church…What is it with royalty getting the credit for starting the Church?
I hope they start telling us that Prince Charles started the Catholic Church to divorce his wife. 😛 😛 😛

Yes but people do not they say we are unworthy but we are not and well I want people to know that you should all call him by his name not lord or god because they are titles.

It also says in the bible that we should not call priests farther.
So why do catholics and cristians who go to church call there priests farther and you are supposed to get baptised like Jehovahs witnesses not in the church and it also says in the bible Jesus died on a stake not a cross want proof on all of this read the Holy Scriptures the ones that include Jehovahs name would be a good choice.
So do you Call Jesus Lord Or by his Name?
Do you address you own father as dad or by his first name?
Would you have a problem calling God Abba, Father?

Perhaps your bible translation says stake, but mine says cross. Let me ask you what you think of Galatians 3:1 (O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?) Romans soldiers crucified people on +'s not l’s.
Also John Martignoni does a great job talking about Calling Priests Father, Check out the link
