Jehovah’s Witnesses are fastest growing

Jehovah’s Witnesses are the fastest-growing church body in the U.S. and Canada, according to the 2008 Yearbook of Canadian and American Churches.

That doesn’t mean they are the largest. Actually, they are far from it, with just over 1 million members. But Jehovah’s Witnesses posted a growth rate of 2.25 percent. The largest church body by far is the Catholic Church with 67.5 million. Next is the Southern Baptist Convention with 16.3 million.

There has to be a way to normalize the data. The smaller the church, the more a single new member affects the percentage. If I open a new Church with four members and we get one more member, hurray for us, 25% growth!

You beat me to it. Those “fastest-growing” stats are always misleading because of course the smaller groups are going to grow faster than larger percentage-wise. It was the same thing when they were pushing the Heterosexual AIDS epidemic in America.

Yes, I guess statistics don’t lie, people do. 🙂

These reports are “SELF-REPORTING” stats tallied by the Watchtower cult of false profit$ themselves. They wouldn’t cook the books would they?

The Watchtower has recently inflated their membership count to include semi-active members (members who ‘count-time’ for 15 mins a month).

There actually are now twice as many former Jehovah’s Witnesses as there are active ones with thousands leaving every month.Baptisms at assemblies is often mostly family member children who have grown up JW.

Jehovah’s Witnesses are LOSING members and are on the decline.Japan has lost over 600 congregations.Witnesses are shrinking in number in many Western countries as of the last few years, as the Internet facilitates the spread of information (much of it critical of the Witnesses).

Jehovah’s Witnesses members are cautioned against creating JW-related websites, largely to prevent their members from discovering the history and dirty laundry of this organization on other websites. There are literally hundreds of former members pages in many languages

Jehovah’s Witnesses beliefs:

A) They are at your door to recruit you for enslavement to their watchtower corporation, they will say that “we are just here to share a message from the Bible” this is deception right off.
B) The ‘message’ is their false Gospel that Jesus had his second coming in 1914.
C) Their anti-blood transfusion ban has killed hundreds if not thousands
D) once they recruit you they will “love bomb” you in cult fashion to also recruit your family & friends or cut them off. There are many more dangers,Jehovah’s Witnesses got a bad rap for good and valid reasons.
99% of the world has rejected the teachings of the Watchtower Jehovah’s Witnesses, the darker truth is they are a destructive and oppressive organization.

Google Jehovah’s Witnesses and/or Mormons google is not biased are they?

Scroll through the first 50-100 links there are a million.

Take note:It is Jehovah’s Witnesses who will ambush you with their prepared two man tag team when they storm your door. You are not ready to debate and they have all the leading questions.

The Internet is not controlled by ‘apostates’
Google don’t lie open your eye

I don’t doubt any of this one bit, but if the truth must be spoke, the Catholic Church counts a lot of inactive and former members too. If you were baptized and you are alive, you are counted.

Ugh.

Definitely least favorite religion/cult… The idea of following some bozo named Charles Russell ‘cuz he said so’, and the twistings of scripture, ugh. In the good old days, herisiarchs like Russell would simply be, err, ‘dealt with’.

I think it’s interesting that among the mainline protestant churches, Episcopalians membership is collapsing the quickest.

I probably have this totally wrong, but don’t the JW’s believe that there are a certain number of “reservations” for them in heaven? (I thought it was around 220,000). If they have over a million members, do they not go to heaven?

First come first served?

they are left here to live as or anywhere they wish…🤷

Close, it is 144,000. I’m told there are only about 8,00 seats left. The 144,00 are the people who are to reign in heaven with Jesus. Everyone else will be resurrected in the utopia that Earth will be after the Armageddon.

I’m not kidding.

I don’t think this could be a good thing. JW teaching on blood transfusions has caused many people, including young teenagers, to die for no reason. There was recintly a case where a judge allowed a young teenager who was a JW to die by refusing a blood transfusion. I plan on asking them about this the next time they ring my bell.

I just don’t find this group to be harmless. I went to their webpage and it seems to suggest that Catholics worship Mary and all other religious beliefs are “figments” of other people’s imaginations. They changed their site because I can’t find that information on it now, but before it was changed it said the things I mentioned above.

Dying because of beliefs in one’s religion isn’t necessarily a bad thing is it?

That’s suprising. I would have thought the Mormons are growing much faster than the JW’s. Besides, I see Mormon missionaries out and about at least once a week while I have never been visited by a JW nor seen them going door-to-door.

And now, the BAD news for the Jehovah’s Witnesses:

“An even more extreme example of what might be called “masked churn” is the relatively tiny Jehovah’s Witnesses, with a turnover rate of about two-thirds. That means that** two-thirds of the people who** told Pew they** were raised Jehovah’s Witnesses no longer are** - yet the group attracts roughly the same number of converts. Notes Lugo, “No wonder they have to keep on knocking on doors.””

This comes from the new Pew Forum study on American religion and the related article from Time.

This is truly a staggering figure. What does it say when 2/3 of your parishoners permanently drop out of your religion at some point in their life?

If your beliefs turn out not to be true you’ve given your life for nothing.

The prohibition on blood transfusions was not taught by Jesus Christ who in fact said that none of the Old Testament dietary laws applied to Christians.

You’re right of course. I was merely pointing out that dying for one’s religion in principle isn’t always a bad thing (St Peter for example).

I think much of this comes down to faith, faith that yours is the true religion: there but for the grace of God go I (I might have been a Jehovah’s Witness if I was born into such a community).
