Jehovah's Witnesses knocked on my door

Please keep me and my wife in your prayers. ( Children can use it to =) ) I had an interesting encounter with a couple of witnesses which kind of turned out in everyone’s favor. Although they would not accept anything I would give them. ( Pillar of Fire, Pillar of Truth ) So I told them I would like to invite them in the near future to have a conversation on what they are teaching. I’m well grounded in my faith but fear that I dont have the verses from the bible memorized or done any real apologetics. I also didnt want to push them away because I want to leave a good impression on them of how a Catholic is. One of the witnesses was really knowledgeable about his Bible but it worked out in my favor as if God had him quote the verses I needed in my defense which worked out pretty good. I even thanked him for basically finishing some of my sentences even though it was against his teaching. So I started doing some more research on JW so that my wife and I can have a chance at sowing some seeds of truth after taking some time in clearing the fog of deceit. We need your prayers in that the Spirit guide us and protect us in taking a chance at opening our home in defense of our faith. I gave them my home phone number and cell phone number and after a little bit of persuasion I was able to get one of there cell phone numbers. They felt I was well versed in scripture but I took that as a ploy to engage deeper which is why they seem quite interested in the invitation to come over. Please pray for us… Thanks and God Bless.

Hi Rob,

Prayers on the way.

They (JW’s) were at my door last week and I expect a return in the next few days.

I have entertained them many times in the last 50 yrs and expect to do so many times in the future. The results are always the same, not fruitful.

Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that St. Michael is Jesus, so your first line of attack is to prove them wrong. They quote some place in Genesis, there must be a solid refutation to this somewhere.

Also ask them who their teaching authority is, how long ago it was instituted (and if they say 2000 years ago, ask them if their teaching authority actually has any documents from even 300 A.D, [they don’t])

Then ‘peter you are the rock you build my church’ , ‘i give you the keys to heaven’ ‘whatever you loose in heaven…etc’

That’s where the church was founded. And there has to be a valid successor that is known to the people, so that people aren’t confused or split over morals.

Scroll down a bit in that, and you can see where they try to predict when the tribulation and all other events will take place. They keep naming a year, and then when it doesn’t happen, they push that year ahead again. Sad, deceived people. Pray for them.

Rob, they are a challenge, as they are programmed pretty well by the WTBTS. But, their scriptural knowledge can be pretty shallow. You will do well to obtain a copy of Catholic Answers’ own “The Essential Catholic Survival Guide” They address the JWs, Mormons and SDA churches, as well as numerous other issues.
