Judges 11 talks about Jephte and his promise to sacrifice the first living creature to greet him, if God will cause him to be victorious in battle. His daughter turns out to be the first person to greet him on his way back from the battlefield, and so Jephte keeps his promise to God and sacrifices her.
I’m sorry if this sounds like a ignorant question, but why would God allow Jephte to go through with this? If He stopped Abraham’s hand, because He saw that Abraham was ready to give up his son, why did He not do the same with Jephte, who was ready to give up his daughter?
