There is absolutely no good reason for Mr. Lewis to apologize. The outrage that those with same-sex attractions might feel over the use of that word is nothing more than a manifestation of the shame they ought to feel over what they have made themselves into. Since the word forces them to confront the grim reality of the disgusting perversion they wish to reduce their entire identity to, the word is an appropriate and potent tool for apologists and should be used more often.

Oh thank you. But despite that you have just boosted me a little closer to heaven. I’ll debate this with you there.

Need I remind everyone that even our attitude towards sinners must be like Jesus’. He quite clearly said prostitutes and tax collectors are getting into the kingdom before you. He didn’t say wh***s, which would be a derogatory word. So why should we accept others using derogatory language about anyone regardless of what their sins are?

I accept the use of derogatory language because it forces the individual to whom it is directed to confront the ugly nature of their sin. Christ did not shy away from throwing people’s sins up in their faces whenever He had the chance (read the story of the Samaritan woman at the well). Using this type of language is nothing more than holding up the mirror so that sinners may look upon the foul things they have consented to in their lives.

Be careful. He did not throw the sins in their faces. He gently corrected them. Your attitude is what concerns me here. I am not sure what scriptures you read. Christ got much angrier at the Pharisees and lawyers who were being self righteous and thereby lived in hypocrisy. I don’t want to risk that. I will forgive and then caution them to sin no more. That’s what Christ did.

Jesus more often than not forgave sinners. Read the story of the adulterous woman that everyone was ready to stone. He gently reminded her to go and sin no more after not condemning her. Remember let he who is without sin cast the first stone. We can correct but with compassion.

Agree with all of the above. But likewise if we allow free speech we can’t shut down the gays comments on Christians.
They can say what they want, christians can say what they want
and everyone can decide.

I know in a perfect world

I just let it all slide. I’m not offended by what the gays say because often there are hateful Christians. I’m not offended by the Christians because they very often act out of emotion rather than compassion. I just am in the habit of ignoring it all.🙂

The 1st Amendment gives us free speech. Why must GLAAD preach about that, but not let you say anything like the word f*g?

They are shameless hypocrites…the lot of em’.

They are not the only ones my friend. Anyone who calls themselves a Christian and denies the fact they are sinners as much as the others by using derogatory slurs can fit that bill. I repeat if we as Christians want to call it free speech to use the word f*g then we must respect their free speech as well. It absolutely can’t be onesided. Instead it must be stopped from both sides. We should all think before we speak. The gospels say we will be judged on how treat the poor and that includes sinners who are poor in spirit. Follow the example of Mother Teresa. She called them friends fo Jesus. Now that is uplifiting.

Somebody call Don Imus and give him his job back. Everyone owes Michael Richards an apology too. They should not have apologized. The outrage that those college women and people of color “might” feel over the use of those words is nothing more than a manifestation of the shame they ought to feel over what they have made themselves into.

Blah blah blah… I love drivel.

Hallelujah. You’re speaking the truth. We are not called to shame sinners just correct them.

So he insulted a homophile, so what?

Catholics get insulted all the time on air by the liberals, do the liberals apologize?

Also what’s wrong with the word he used? There is no difference between that word, the longer version of that word and the word gay or homosexual.

Those all mean the same thing.

Its like saying cat or feline, its the same thing, no difference.

Everyone should have the right to say that three letter f word( and its longer version)which is simply a synonym of homosexual.

personally though i prefer to use the most appropriate word to refer to such abominations, which is homophile.

Dude I have a right to my opinions. It’s high time those people went back in the closet and America became more conservative. So thank you very much.

Exactly everyone is entitled to an opinion. They are entitled to theirs as well. But shaming someone is just not a christian approach. Mother teresa didn’t shame them. She called them friends of Jesus. Remember she is up for sainthood. I choose to follow that example. I like a balanced America. I could never live under a strictly conservative country. If America is all about freedom it must live with both liberals and conservatives.😛

I prefer to be a little more compassionate as Mother Teresa was. Remember friends of Jesus is what she called them.
