I was not sure where to put this thread because Jerry Springer’s shock impact runs the whole gambit of topics.

For those who do not know this, Jerry Springer is a possible Democrat candidate for Ohio Governor. NOW he has developed a Radio Talk Show (at least in Ohio). Our conservative news/talk station, WTAM 1100AM, has added Jerry’s program to their line-up next Monday (Bumping off Glenn Beck).

My question it this:
If Springer becomes a ‘real’ candidate, wouldn’t he have to cancel his radio and/or TV show as a way of being bias? His show could be seen as a '3 hour, “commercial”?

I used to like Glenn Beck until his anti-Catholic spew poisoned the airwaves, BUT now Springer!

What do my fellow Ohioians think?
Has anyone heard his radio program? Comments please?
This whole thread is for the discussion about Springer’s radio/tv/political offices.

Can it get much worse? Yikes. I am holding breath that Springer does not get airplay in my city.

I believe Jerry started his radio show, in Cincinnati, either just before or after the 2004 Elections. I know he declared or will declare himself a candidate for Ohio Govenor late last year.
 
I would think that he would have to cancel his radio show once he officially announces (especially with Republicans in control of the FCC). On the bright side, he was mayor of Cincinnati and Cincinnati survived.

I thought he was the mayor of Cincy before. I believe he was off the air when he ran for mayor.

I believe Jerry’s being mayor of Cincinnati was before his TV program took off.
 
Springer Update:

Interview on our morning program today, Jerry stated that his radio program is now in Detroit, Miami, San Antonio and will be in Chicago by the end ot this month. His radio program started 8 weeks ago.

Jerry claims that his radio program is NOT like his tv show. Has anyone ACTUALLY listened to his radio program?
 
I have never hear it but if its anything like his tv show God help you. Does he really have a shot at wining?

It’s been 4 monthsor so, since we’ve had Jerry Springer’s radio program on in Cleveland. Let me put it this way: EVEN whent he station plays the promo cuts (about 15 seconds long) makes me want to throw something at the radio.

Has anyone picked up the book: 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America by Bermard Goldberg. Jerry is # 32.
 
I listen to Jerry’s radio show every morning on Air America…GOD BLESS the LORD for that radio station!

While I found Springers’ TV Show to showcase the pariahs of society and he their Ringmaster, I am blown away by the intelligence, thoughtfulness and respect this man displays on his radio show.

As for Bernard Goldberg. Jerry had him on the other day to plug his idiotic book… Jerry actually encouraged people to read it cause it was entertaining. But in a respectful manner he DISMANTLED Goldberg on the air when he asked him time and time again to explain how celebrities can have power to RUIN the country when its political figures who make and enact laws that have the potential to harm us all. Bernie kept changing the subject. All he would do is ramble about the need for public civility…

The GREAT Al Franken dismantled the goober with the book The Truth About Hillary the other day…with FACTS! This guy was so flustered, Franken actually had him CONFESS on the air that yes…he was sloppy with his chronology, and used MUCH innuendo without checking sources! I was CRINGING! All the guy could say was…he was just a “biographer” and not a Journalist 😃 God Bless this radio station for using FACTS to dismantle the blather from all these extreme right wingers and pseudo liberals who PRETEND to be liberal but in fact are working for the Republicans! AMEN!
 
I don’t care how intelligent this man can make himself seem. The devil is great at making evil seem good and good seem evil. People don’t even realize that they are buying the lies satan sells them. Anyone who could do a television show like Springer’s is on the highway to ‘you know where’ IMO. He won’t be getting my vote, but there are a lot of people who don’t give a crud who they vote for as long as they belong to the right party. 😦 Ever heard of moral character? I don’t think Jerry Springer has. :cool:

If he is, I’d wonder if he is schizophrenic. The way he exhibits absolutely no respect for humanity on that utterly offensive TV show, and then to have more respect for the unborn? It doesn’t really jibe with me. I’d have to seriously question this claim. Although it would be good, since there are a lot of, let’s just say, ‘different’ people in this state who will probably vote for him. If he does end up in office, pro-life would be a good start to offset his other quirks.
 
Jerry Springer is no doubt intelligent. He may also have good intentions. However, his intentions are not as rellevant as results, and the result of Jerry Springer is that he has made a fortune exploiting people, and has in many ways made America a worse place.

Sure, he has the right to say what he said. No one is disputing that. He has the right to run for office, although I have the right to hope he doesn’t. His show has made america a worse place, but I wouldn’t advocate banning it.

But he wants political power now? Worse, he’ll bring some of societies’ least productive and most ill-informed people to the polls if he runs. While I won’t take away the right for those people to vote, I will say that I wish people who will only vote because someone famous runs for office would spare us their vote–this country would be much better off if only people who took their civic responsiblities seriously showed up on election day.

Talk about hateful commentary. Air America consistently mocks those who work to protect life in all stages.
 
A few facts about Jerry.

Yes he was elected mayor of Cincinnati before he considered broadcasting. Yes he did bounce a check he wrote to a prostitute :eek: , yet even with that, the city voted him in. I was too young to vote at the time so don’t blame me.

I am NOT a Jerry fan at all. But with that said, he is a pretty smart person.

His radio show is falling in the ratings. Air Bitter – oops I mean Air America is failing at a fast pace. Apparently they are financially strapped and is looking to take Federal money that would be given to charities, instead want that money to support this ever failing venture.

Jerry does have interest back into the political game. Sad to say, but due to lack of voter intelligence, people will vote for this clown in any office.

And since when is being pro union, anti nafta and cafta and for peace unamerican and un christian? They seem more christian than the republicans do to me and some of of them Jews! Stop attacking what you dont even listen to but yet think Rush and Bill will tell ya like it is.

I may disagree with them on gay marriage and abortion, but on everything else I am liberal and they tell the TRUTH, with FACTS.

During the presidential campaign, he came on several radio shows and I think I found it in print in a couple of places at that time.
