Jerusalem Catholic Patriarch profoundly resents city's gay pride parade

Jerusalem, Israel, Aug 2, 2010 / 08:41 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- A “gay pride” parade held in Jerusalem last week was met with “profound resentment” by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and opposition from other religious groups in the city. The Latin Patriarch Fouad Twal said that those who support the yearly event “care neither for the feelings of families, nor for the holiness of this City.”

Nearly 3,000 participants saw widespread non-violent protests from the holy city’s inhabitants along the parade route, which stretched from Independence Park to the Wohl Rose Garden, according to the Jerusalem Post. The event was sponsored LBGT community of Israel and has been held annually since 2002.

Patriarch Fouad Twal of the Latin Patriarchate issued a statement on Friday in which he underscored that the Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Druze religious communities of the city continue in their “tough opposition” to the event.

It is sad for the City of Jerusalem. how about when we have such a thing right inside the One Holy Catholic Church of our Lord? this is a Holy Place yet sponsoring this abomination.

As the CNA/EWTN article noted, the parade is an annual event in Jerusalem. However, it is also an annual event in Tel Aviv. The difference between the two cities is that Jerusalem’s has a history of parade marchers being physically attacked, whereas Tel Aviv’s does not. The parade, which is traditionally held in June, was postponed this year specifically to coincide with the one-year anniversary of a shooting rampage that took place at the Bar Noar gay and lesbian youth center in Tel Aviv last summer, claiming the lives of Nir Katz 24, and Liz Trobashi 27.

That case, which left fifteen others wounded after a masked gunman stormed into the center and opened fire with what is presumed to have been an assault rifle, has yet to be solved.

In accordance with that theme, those wounded in the attack marched – and pushed themselves in wheelchairs – alongside fellow participants carrying signs in memory of Katz and Trobashi, with others calling for their killer to be brought to justice.

During the Jerusalem parade, the police outnumbered the marchers 2:1. And it was peaceful. Yet, after the parade…

Two gay men were attacked in Jerusalem last week by two teenagers shouting “Death to gays, all of you should be killed,” one of the victims of the beating said yesterday.

Police are investigating the incident, which took place as a group of friends were returning from the capital’s Gay Pride parade last Thursday.

Fortunately, no weapons were used, perhaps due to the young age (perhaps 14 years) of the assailants. And no injuries were reported. This was a minor incident, but perhaps indicative of the strong feelings in Jerusalem.

An odd detail about attack is that the assailants appeared to be secular, rather than religious, so their motives are unclear.

I think that the agenda of the gay population is going to far. we dont need to see them parading the streets promoting their life style. it is better for them, if they cannot repent, just restrain themselves from propagating what is very offensive to others. satan have no problem in appearing in public to promote which is evil. they are bringing this unto themselves to make it look like they are victims of the morality crowed. they are trying to turn this against what is good, trying to make good look evil and evil look good. dont let them fool you. they do this to provoke people so they claim, they are just inocent people being victimized by those who hold to morals and teachings of Jesus.
this is a very evil agenda. wake up people. always look for the motivation behind the scenes. we must seek discernment, most of us have lost it, and dont even think about it, most are going only by what they see. pray for discernment.

The Western media is promoting what they call gay rights. Newspapers are running announcements for gay marriages and gay commitment ceremonies. There are more TV shows designed to appeal to gay people. The false impression is that it’s everywhere, it’s supported by members of the press and the intelligentsia. The fact of the matter is that gay marriage is part of a social engineering experiment that will include polyamory, and other forms of sexual behavior designed to destroy the traditional family.

we cannot expect anything good from a world that promotes so much evil and when so many Catholics are willing to support it.
