Jesuit College hires Agnostic to run Center for Religion and Public Life

Why would Jesuit-run Boston College hire an agnostic to run it’s Center on Religion and Public Life?
 
Unfortunately, many “Catholic” schools, are no longer environments intended for the faithful.
